Cool idea of gameplay also music is very good
Minimalism done right. Love everything about this! Only took me 5 minutes to realize I could summon more than one demon.
Fits the theme super well, very polished for a jam game and really liked the simple graphics. Audio very well done also!
Very cool idea, on theme and fun to play, but it would be nice to be able to select multiple summons or have a way to quickly switch between them (perhaps with tab) as once as it gets quite hard and annoying to manage all of them when there is more than 2. The castle is also comically easy to destroy with the bigger demons. Other than that, graphics are very cute and well done overall!
Loved it! Great little game loop of destroying towns to earn new structures. The first one that gives you waypoints is such a smart little in-game tutorial like design choice, made the game super clear. I did struggle at first to realize that the arrows moved the camera (I read all the sprite based hints on this page, but missed the controls section right above it! My bad.) Loved unlocking the firebreathers at the end. I kind of wish the end had been a little more difficult, because my army was pretty big lol, but what a great game. Congrats!
Great finished game.... loved the music/sound effects... a little challenging to catch the little dudes... I spawned one too close to the portal and wasted all that blood, poor me
@ulziton Thanks for playing! I enjoyed making the music and had been wanting to make a rts-lite game for a jam for a while!
@drahmen Thank you for playing! I tried to dial it back this year in scope and I'm glad it worked out.
@violetdreams Thanks for playing! I loved making the audio! Sitting in my closet recording myself growling for the demon sounds was the best part.
@kenguin Thanks for playing! Tabbing between demons is such a good idea! Yes the castle is weak, since it was difficult to control multiple I wanted it to be destroyable with just a big demon, but obviously that makes it trivial. Thanks for the suggestions!
@ronn-fever Thanks for playing! Yea I'm happy with how the waypoint tower worked out, since exploring the whole map would have been very tedious!
@pwrs Thanks for playing! Yes the overlapping demons and portal was an issue, I should have made the demons take selection priority.
Loved the art, loved the sounds, loved the concept of the unexplored map. Game of the year. Controlling a demon running around, eating people, great fun
@dobrila Thanks for playing! I think the unexplored map really added an RTS/retro game feel to it that I'm glad is appreciated.
Great job making a polished game! I thought a bridge would lead to the castle at first, and I kept clicking and dragging to try and move the screen faster. I also like how the land across the water gives the illusion of a river to feel like a larger world.
Really polished and quite fun! Controls felt good, looked great, and the visuals and audio meshed together very well! :D
Also, I think I found a little "exploit", as you can hover over the dark areas of the map and the cursor will still change if there is a building or person there, haha.
I liked the art and it was quite fun! point for the demon's design, I love it.
@nbumgardner Thanks for playing! I definitely should have made the scrolling faster
@kaedalus Thanks for playing! Yup! I did not have the time fix that...
@helinatan Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the designs
It would be nice to be able to choose more than one unit. But overall it's a great game. Good job!
Great entry, good jobs to do an rts for a ludum. Would have love to select multiple unit at one and to moove the camera.
But great artwork, good animation. Nice job
Very nicely done! Like a mini rts game, changed in a way that it fits the theme! Really good art style, animation and sound for a game jam, also fits together. Good amount of content, played it to the end! One of the best games I rated so far! One thing to improve would be the controls, I think copy a bit from rts'es, maybe a mini map and or arrows to the side of the screen to move camera, also auto follow the active one, maybe select multiple. But I like it that you focused the game jam time on the whole experience from start to finish, instead of focusing on those "details"!
Great pixel art! I really liked the look of the game. It felt great moving the demons and killing peasants. I think the camera was a bit slow, and I was missing an option to play in fullscreen. I think it would be really nice to be able to jump between the demons, maybe on the mouse scroll. So scrolling the wheel would move the camera on top of one demon. It was also a bit hard to understand the objective of the game. I think that maybe it would be nice to have a health bar below to city to really hammer in that your suppose to destroy the houses. image_2024-04-20_155721123.png
Anyways, cool game! Well done.
The arrow on the spire of the first plundered/rebuilt village that points to where to go is a really good idea. I really liked the vibe of the music when it got going. It was very fitting. Unfortunately it was quite laggy on my old laptop with only 4 or so demons summoned but i still managed to defeat the castle with the big ones :) Great game!
I really like the concept and the art style. The game looks really good and is extremely well polished. The only bug I found was that I summoned a demon in the same space as the portal, and couldn't actually control it as the game selected the portal as the demon was 'underneath' it.
However as an army building game, it is very tedious swapping between units and directing multiple demons in a direction, so a feature allowing for multiple selections at once would be a strong addition. Buffing the castle would also be recommended as you can technically play the entire game with only 2 demons needed as the big demon can 1v1 the castle. These two things combined left me a touch frustrated after spending longer gathering my army on their doorstep than the actual fight took.
But overall, I do like this and as a jam game it works pretty well and could definitely be expanded further into a fun game.
It's an interesting concept, nice game. Good job!
Great idea. The audio really fit the artstyle. Camera movement could've been a bit faster or maybe the option to select all demons at once (unless I missed it). But it was a nice, short experience.
