Sorry, but can not run your game. Trying to press "any button" - and nothing happens

yellow 2024-04-15 23:12

@promzona  Oh! Thank you so much for helping me discover this very serious issue! Now it's working properly!

locksmitharmy 2024-04-15 23:47

this is gonna give me tetris nightmares

michael-macha 2024-04-15 23:50

Neat idea. I could see this as an epic arcade platformer, or having a versus mode where one player is the blocks and the other is the little guy.

mxbi 2024-04-15 23:52

This is an awesome little concept, very fun and works well :) Great music too, fits perfectly. Unfortunately I am too bad at it, and couldn't even get any score haha.

Could be fun as a two player game, one person trying to escape and the other trying to kill them?

yellow 2024-04-16 01:12

@locksmitharmy It's said that there are some issues at the plumber's house next door. Let's go there next time! mario.png

yellow 2024-04-16 01:14

@michael-macha This is indeed one of my ideas! I will find time to improve it. Thank you!

yellow 2024-04-16 01:19

@mxbi Of course, it would be fun, and I indeed plan to do it. But I can't find any friends to play with me. :pensive:

rolferm 2024-04-16 08:44

Relly nice idea! Super hard though, but great work!

promzona 2024-04-16 08:47

Tried your game once again. Everything works super good. Gameplay is quite unique - really liked this idea on avoiding blocks from tetris. Music and is nice fit here too. Thanks for submission!

jhax 2024-04-16 10:50

Couldn't tell if I was missing something with the score counter, but fun to just see how long you can keep going! Feels well put together, movement in particular feels really good. Seems like adding in a wall jump thing might be fun, but equally might shift the difficulty a bit. Would also have liked a bit of a clearer cooldown on the Super! ability.

Nitpicky things though - had a fun time playing this!

scoobydoo 2024-04-16 10:51

Great game, I'm in a digital design school and we had the same idea for an asymmetrical multiplayer game where one plays tetris and the other has to avoid the blocks. I'm really happy to be able to see a game that looks like it, since we didn't choose this project in the end. Very nice work and the fact of controlling the 2 gameplays adds a crazy strategic dimension for the player. really impressed.

amarokczukay 2024-04-16 12:07

wait are you telling i need to be good both in tetris and platform jumping? hahaha this a seriously good idea. my brain doesn't follow my hands or the opposite i don't know, but this game looks very hard to master!

konstantinreed 2024-04-16 15:46

Absolutely love the concept. I suggest experimenting a bit more with the control buttons. Thanks for the work!

yellow 2024-04-17 01:13

@rolferm @jhax @scoobydoo @amarokczukay @konstantinreed Thank you for playing and replying! I do have the idea of creating a two person battle mode! And there are also some other things that haven't been done yet, which would be more interesting if completed. When using a block to delete rows:

blocks3.png - Mist, only Dachi and the blocks have a little view, everything else will become dark and dark

blocks1.png - Water, the venue will be filled with water, and there will be resistance to Dachi's movement

blocks4.png - Spikes, randomly generate several spikes on the ground

blocks2.png - Ice, the ground turns into ice, making it difficult to stop when moving

blocks5.png - Wind, there will be wind blowing you in another direction

blocks6.png - Flame, there will be a fire inside the venue! Dachi's movement speed has increased, making it difficult to control

blocks7.png - A prop, such as invincibility, penetration, flight, climbing walls, smashing falling blocks, etc

But unfortunately, my time is limited. And I also planned a hidden ending. Finally, thank you again!

Fun game! Reminds me a lot of my submission for Ludum Dare 54, [Pixel Piles](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/pixel-piles). Overall it's very fun, and the movement feels nice. Good job!

doctor-zeus 2024-04-17 05:51

Dachi did it, he finally escaped:

Now he can be free of from his eternal torment

doctor-zeus 2024-04-17 06:16

Also, a strange discovery: it seems that the arrow keys can move tetris blocks independently from Dachi after they flash and "lock" right before falling. I figure this is unintentional, since WASD + Arrow keys + JKL isn't a very hand-friendly layout of controls.

I found (relatively) good success by hunkering down in a little box I built in the bottom, then playing tetris normally (more or less) with the remaining space. No piece hold, randomized pieces, and no (or almost no) wiggle room to tuck pieces under overhangs is still pretty tricky for me, though

It's a fun concept to see put into a game. Playing it was very difficult for me until I figured out my "advanced" strategy, but I figure that difficulty's the point. Nice work!

yellow 2024-04-18 02:11

@gabriel-chan Oh! It's really amazing! Good buddy! Great minds think alike! I'm following you now! Let's meet LD56 again!

yellow 2024-04-18 02:21

@doctor-zeus Thank you for playing so seriously! I did set the platform for scores and the next one! The marker in the picture is actually another ending I set, but I didn't implement it due to time constraints. It is the door to the real world, and then the game officially ends.

Also, you guessed correctly. The arrow keys were moved to test the two player mode, but I forgot to turn them off.

smidgens 2024-04-18 13:36

This...is pretty awesome. It's such a simple but incredibly effective concept, and surprisingly hard (almost feels like I'm trying to shave and brush my teeth simultaneously).

patrick-pang 2024-04-19 03:46

An extremely awesome game! Two familiar mechanisms combine to create a new and refreshing gaming experience, which deserves a 5-star innovation rating! BTW this little character always reminds me of Big G in the cartoon Doraemon hahaha

foursay 2024-04-19 05:50

I like how you made this "Tetris with a twist" and how this coincide with the summonging theme lol! The only thing I wanna complain is the tricky input I need to handle with and it occurs to me a lot that I trap my self between Tetris piece and I can't move at all lol, but overall this is a solid entry!

gobigredfan 2024-04-21 18:58

Very clever and challenging! And cool to see an entry with no wizards OR demons - top marks for that!

thomas-gelman 2024-04-24 06:08

Clever twist on Tetris! Simple idea that is executed pretty well. Surprisingly challenging too! Congratulations on finishing a game solo too, that takes effort. Overall, well done!
