You really captured the old school 2d shooter vibe here. The music, movement etc. Was hyped when I figured out I could double jump. Well done!

Pretty good game, i think the death anims and the falling speed is too fast imo
Really tough game, I was able to make it up the second must-dash jump but after trying that for a few times I had to give up. The animations look very awesome! Well done!
the art and sound effects are amazing. i found some of the platforming to be tough, but it generally like to use UP to jump and i dont think most players are like that. the auto aim feature also works really nicely.
this is actually REALLY great, especially for your first game jam.
first, please add in your description that there is a double jump. some can figure it out but, in a game jam... don't count on it. i've had ppl not actually realized that wasd was how to move in my game even though it's the defacto move buttons now.
Also, can you look at your double jump code? some times, when I try to double jump, i'm holding it down but it's a teeny tiny second jump but some times it's a huge second jump. You are allowed to fix bugs btw so it's not cheating to fix that and re-upload
wow, awesome style, graphics and music and sound fx!
I had trouble trying to dash with WASD combined with E, maybe SHIFT would be better, but not sure. I'm sure on controller it's great.
Really cool with the homing shots, automatically shooting at enemies so focusing on doing the platform jumping is easier.
Cool simple little game. I liked the design of the character
Love the art and shooting, very well done. It is very difficult for sure.
At first it was hard to figure out the dash mechanics, but after the 7th try, I was able to reach a meaningful distance. I really liked the aim assist mechanics, however the seer number of enemies was overwhelming. I think it has a lot of potential and could be made a bit easier at the start. Overall I enjoyed playing with it, Great Work! :)
I loved the graphics/art style the most! And also how polished it is as an overall game.
Just a note...I wasn't sure if you wanted to be rated in the theme category as I couldn't see anything written about being related to the 'Limited Space' theme.
Anyhow, excellent job! Very impressed :)
Congrats on finishing your first game jam! Great work!
Engaging graphics and speedy gameplay. I found it very hard to progress with the controls how they were - very easy to die even from the second jump. Took me a while to realize the shots were auto-aimed. Very nice looking and complete, with a cool soundtrack.
I loved the death screen, the music and visuals of it were perfect, I also just saw it a lot cause I was rubbish. Good platformer :)
it's a pretty difficult game but I enjoyed it :D the controls are a bit hard (dashing with E). The art is really good and even if you didn't make the music, you chose one that gives a nice atmosphere to the game
@germdog53 Thank you for your kind words, means a lot to me, I'm glad you had a good time
@teejio Yeah, after a few playtests I kinda think the same. Thank you for playing it.
@devedse I think i made it a lot harder than I should, maybe I could add a progress saver, so when you die you don't start over from the beginning, but just before you die.
@bo-dangles yeah, i think i should've added W as a jump option, my bad on that. I think the controls for keyboard were not that good. E for dash as an example. Also I should make it more obviou that you can wall jump to complete some jumps.
@matt-swieboda for sure, I think not being able to jump with W, and the dash on E are the biggest flaws with the controls, also, gameplay-wise. i didn't make it obvious about the wall slide/jump feature. Thank you for your time
@rogue-snake Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you had fun with the game
@larrymartinjr thank you for your words. and yeah, i guess i made it too difficult. my bad on that
@greenpig thank you for your words. Everyone seems to aggree that the game was too hard in multiple ways, i'll definitely look into it. I'll polish some things and do a better level design on this game just to make it a little better.
@simbishy thank you for your words. Yeah, i think the game verges the theme slightly with the forcefields. but i guess i didn't really followed the theme that well.
@thelastslowpoke thank you! it really means a lot to me.
@dob thank you for the compliments, yeah the game feels too hard and very punishing. the idea was to feel a bit stressed out to do platforming while being chased by enemies and running from the forcefield. but i think i had some issues with it, like the dash mechanics, the damage the enemies dealt, also just overall platforming was too hard
@osh-studio thank you for playing it, i'm glad you enjoyed. Yeah i also made it very easy to see the death screen. Maybe i've liked it aswell LOL. Definitely gonna improve on that one
@castitatis thanks for the kind words. and yeah, what was I thinking when I setted E as dash? LOL. thank you for playing the game, i'm glad you had a good time
I really like the music and art but the game was too hard for me. I like it!
Tricky game, but looks and sounds awesome! The death animation was really cool too. Lucky for me, I saw it quite a few times!
Hey thanks for sharing! I think this was a pretty ambitious goal for a jam game, given how many different inputs and mechanics there were. I really appreciated that you managed to fit them all in (shooting, running, jumping, double jump, dash, wall slide, wall jump) though I did feel like the game's difficulty curve was too steep to introduce these things with friendly pacing. The level design let you down here a little bit, being so punishing that a missed jump forced the player back to the beginning. I did like the way that the force fields retreated when enemies died, giving the player incentive to not just run away from enemies.
I liked the music and some of the polish touches in the camera movement on death and the retry button, making it tempting to jump back in on a loss.
Thankfully, I did have a PS5 controller on hand because I found the keyboard controls quite prohibitive. Dash, in particular, would be a far better fit on the shift key than E, as would be the typical control scheme for a game like this.
Overall, a really solid effort with potential for improvement with small adjustments.
