Hey, the web version on this page does not seem to work. It runs fine on itch tho, but you may want to adjust the canvas are on itch (when the fullscreen is not on the canvas is cropped).

I wished the flower would move in sync with the music x)

I would argue that the rythm of the game is kind of slow for me.

Oh and the amount of money under the clock, confused me. I expected to be able to spend it :)

Sound effects and audio in general is awesome. The story is fun. Congrats on your entry !

This is an interesting idea to have a story game where the main object is the plant.

I really would have liked another font, for me it was partially hard to read which removed some of the emersion while playing.

A good thing would also be to not have to replay all dialogs after restart, I think it would be enough to replay the previous dialog on restart.

Hello @arscene and thank you for playing and reviewing my game!

You can use your money if you don't go to work x)

Sadly, I did not have the time to implement a more indepth use of it.

Synchronizing the flower and the music is a great idea!

mephistase 2023-01-21 10:19

Hello @chlu!

I take note for the font! You grow accustomed to this kind of things so your opinion is especially important.

And also good thinking for the dialogues, I will think about it!

Cool music and sounds! I especially liked the shift in graphics when you pick up the fruit.

Gameplay wise I think there could be some indicator if I am giving too much water, but the rounds were short enough that it wasn't a big issue to start again. I also think the font is a bit hard to read (but I myself also tend to use hard to read pixel fonts in my games :smile:)

Overall a short but very atmospheric game! I liked it

bezbiletnym 2023-01-21 12:53

Very interesting idea on the theme!

maartene 2023-01-21 14:54

Cool and complete game. Impressive that you were able to add multiple plaths in such short time window. Will you continue working on this game?

remco 2023-01-21 15:36

The version on here took too long to load (and got some scroll-bars), so I tried it on itch.io and that worked.

Short & sweet. I got about 4 paths (throwing it out, dying of over-watering, dying of drought, 'addiction' ending).

There are a few grammar mistakes: 'what specie is it' -> 'species', 'it need a lot of attention' -> 'needs', 'feed us and be feed' -> 'be fed' (yes, the first 'feed' is with two ee, the second is another tense, so only one e).

Nice restricted use of color! One nitpick though: I'm decent-to-good at seeing color-changes, and it was clear to me when the plant needed water and when I would over-water it by clicking one more time, but I think (maybe?) it might be a bit too subtle for a lot of people. Especially since it's mostly the outlines you have to pay attention to.

Weird and pretty fun. Well done.

I liked the mood in this, and played it to the end. Some parts felt a bit slow with how little happened and so, but I also get that it was intentional and it definitely was within my tolerance. Fun story, but would have been nice if one had some pets and perhaps kids too, to prolong the story a bit.

wendy222 2023-01-23 19:03

Weird but somehow cute!

flying-dog-fish 2023-01-23 19:34

Nice game. I especially liked the hallucinogenic effect of the fruit.

betovf 2023-01-24 10:06

Very original entry. Good job!

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:45

@oadt Thank you for your return!

Yeah, you are not the first one to complain about the font, I will be more careful in the future!

For watering, you are supposed to wait until the leaves change colors, but it is hard to spot.

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:45

@bezbiletnym Thank you!

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:47

@maartene I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Making multiple paths isn't easy indeed, even if I planned a lot more ^^

Maybe not this game, but the work made during this jam will help me build similar games.

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:50

@remco I deeply appreciate your dedication to try all four endings, so thank you!

And thank you for pointing out my spelling mistakes, I need to improve my grammar ^^

Especially when you don't have time for playtest and rewriting!

Your advice on the colour change is noted!

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:51

@jk5000 Thank you! glad you liked it!

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:53

@local-minimum Glad you liked it

This pace was what I researched for building on the atmosphere but I'm happy you did not find it boring!

They were suppose to be a lot more interaction, with your job, colleagues, your companion, your money, etc...

But I had to reduce the scope to make it to compo.

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:54

@wendy222 Cute in the "you're going to die" way perhaps? x)

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:55

@flying-dog-fish Thank you!

It is just a turning rectangle but I liked the result!

mephistase 2023-01-24 12:55

@betovf Thank you!

n0va 2023-01-27 21:29

I liked it, the atmosphere is nice and it was very charming, and mesmerizing ending. The hallucinogenic rainbow effect was nice. I liked how it was visually was keept simple including the color palette, cause it did not feel like the different aspects where fighting for my attention, but playing together as one. Less is more as they say.

More or longer would have been better sure like a bit more to the endings or during the middle of the game (cause I enjoyed it and wanted to continue), but it got a lot to it already and one can only do so much with so little time. It is really good for your first one to be honest. Great Work! Looking forward to see what you make in the future or next time. :smile:
