It took me a while to understand the mechanics of the game. A bit more detailed explanation would be helpful :)

Once I understood it it was actually fun, it is quite complicated. I can imagine some levels with different constrains that could increase difficulty. Really nice idea!

I liked the idea. I didn't quite understand what I was doing for a second. To be fair I didn't take my time to read every information I had. It's a bit hard but entertaining. Overall I liked it, and the art and music was very cool!

This is a cool concept. I agree that it's a bit difficult to figure out what's going on at first. More explanation could help, but IMO what would be most helpful is a persistent display of the current block somewhere on screen to the side of the board. Might be cool to show the block that will come after that too, like Tetris.

FYI the Itch version doesn't work in Safari, though Chrome is fine. It's throwing a max call stack exceeded. I think I hit the same thing when deploying my game, and disabling gzip in the build resolved it. You know, in case you're concerned about the other 4 people using Safari :D

Super cool puzzle game! I agree with others that more explanation and visual aids would be helpful, but I was able to figure it out after a little while.

Funny little puzzle game! I like the fact that even your finished fields can get "upgraded" and therefore destroy your finished field - this makes this even more difficult >_<

Thank you everyone for your feedback so far! It looks like people are finding it difficult to understand what to do, and that's all on me; poor tutorialization seems to be a running trend in my game :(

@paulstraw My HTML versions have been all messed up for the last couple of Ludum Dares. I think I have to actually disable gzip just so it runs on Chrome to begin with lol. Sorry Safari users.

A little confusing at first, but was satisfying to manage to grow some plants and beat the high score. Good job!

This is a cool combination of game mechanics! Feels a bit like solving a Rubik's Cube where every move changes everything around you, and you need to plan a few moves in advance. I also really like the sprites changing to reflect the ratio of sun/water/soil that tile has. You made a great choice to just automatically drop the player back into the next season without a big "game over" screen or anything; that makes it feel more welcoming and urges you to try "just one more round!"

Really enjoyed this once I figured out that I was controlling L shaped blocks that covered 3 tiles and can be rotated. Cute design and fits nicely with the theme. I could totally see this being fleshed out into a mobile game. My highest score was 900. Great work!

This was a fun little puzzle game. As others have said, it's a little overwhelming to start. There is a lot of information on the screen at once and it's hard to take it all in. When the harvest comes, it would be nice to see some kind of visual indication of your score to help explain what you did well. The music and sound effects were well done and fitting. Overall a great concept that is just missing a bit of polish.

Like the music. Showing the "piece" you have somewhere probably would have made it much easier to understand, just getting that you have 3 block piece and each block has a preset effect that doesn't depend on what's under it took me a bit.

The WebGL version, both at the default embedded view (set to 900x600 - easy fix to set this to , presumably, a 16:9 aspect? Manually tweaking it in the .html seems to work, if nothing else ^\_^) and full screen (2560x1600 monitor here, 16:10 aspect) are getting the sides of the screen cut off, making it hard to read the text. Screenshot 2023-01-14 084955.png

Really neat idea, took a couple clicks before I got the hang of it, managed to get a decent score on my third try =). The feedback and telegraphing which numbers would be affected on a click was really nice (and critical to usability ^\_^). I would have liked a little more clear feeling of what my current "block" was - the glowing overlay icons were too hard to read / too inconsistent. Often I'd found myself rotating and being unclear which direction it was rotating (guess the one direction I could rotate was the opposite of what my brain expected ^\_^), and lost track of which color was where. Maybe showing the "block" off to the side of the board, in big solid colors, would have helped, or maybe if the colored outline of the selected blocks weren't blinking, but just constantly solid.

Nice music, and the background art is nice too!

Some very unique mechanics!

As others have commented, the mechanics are a bit hard to figure out - for those reading the comments who didn't figure it out:

1. At any point in time you are dropping an 3-square-piece (In an L shaped elbow). That piece covers 3 blocks at a time and will add 1 unit of water, sun, or fertilizer to their respective spaces. ---> Look at the flashing borders to see where the 3-square-piece is 2. You can move the mouse around to determine where the 3-square-piece should be 3. A plant will grow at harvest if it has EQUAL amounts of water, fertilizer and sun. It's not enough to give more than 1, it needs to be equal. This means that a plant might have 1-1-1, but if you add 1 more of something it becomes 2-1-1 and will no longer harvest until you make it 2-2-2.

Have fun!

I got confused at the beginning, after some tries I got to know how to play it. The concept is pretty unique, I see a little Tetris in it. It has the potential to be a special puzzle game. The elements in the L shape could be more visible, so the players could focus more on the strategy other than observing. Good job!

super cool and chill gmae :)

I like it, got a high score of 1110. I would suggest adding some sort of animation when you finish the game, cause right now it's kinda silly Another thing I would point out is the lack of different shapes and the dominance of water and sun. Maybe it was just me, but I do recommend adding a system which makes sure that all resources are given in equal amounts. But I get it, there was't much time available, and overall the game is really good. Nice job!
