I got the hang of it after a while, I got through a couple of levels before I unfortunately dropped the farmer too many times. Very fun gameplay loop! There's just something inherently satisfying about seeing pachinko balls/and or farmers fly around. I think the sfx were great here at getting that right pachinko feel across too. Collecting the falling vegetables was a good idea to keep the player invested more than just looking at it while the ball/farmer does its thing. I liked this a lot, great job!

As CaptainDreamcast said it is a quite a satisfying game. I would wish for a bit more friction on the "basket" for better control. Solid game, great work!

Very fun take on pachinko and really well done with the physics and controls. Some more polish is really all this one needs. More levels, more variety in the vegetables, some music and background graphics, etc. Obviously all that is hard to get in for the Compo, but I think some extra work could make this one shine.

Good old classic game of pachinko. I'm impressed you got all what you did done in pure CPP in the time limit. Nice job!

I enjoyed playing it. Had a few goes at it :D

A game from scratch in C++ and SDL2 within 48 hours? That sounds crazy! :D Love the concept, really satisfying to play.

Very fun and satisfying little game. Good job!

Smart twist of the breakout game, it's really effective ! I think you don't need a lot of additions to complete the game creation, except for the visuals, you already have a solid concept. I can totally imagine levels with diverse bonus/malus effects

I found it a little frustrating when the ball literally crosses the screen from left to right and vice-versa really quickly, as you can't follow anything that falls, but maybe I can avoid the situation when i'm launching the ball

Very fun little game! After I finally found out what I need to do (sorry, i'm dumb xD) I got the hang of it. Super cute graphics, love the sounds. Well done!

Cudos for your own engine with C++ and SDL! Mine is the same :)

I tried the game on Linux under Wine and unfortunately it lags a lot (runs at about 2-3 FPS), then it crashes, Wine debugger wanted to attach and then my desktop manager froze :D Haven't seen anything like that before :)

Very cool concept! Would love to see what this becomes with a bit more time in the oven.

Like others said this is a clever adaptation of the classic breakout game. I had lots of fun playing this game but maybe you could add some visual improvements. Other than that, super fun!

this was so cute and fun! good work for doing it all yourself. I liked the simplicity of the game, everyone knows how these games work and it does not even need explained. The combination of catching vegetables while trying to keep and eye on the farmer bouncing everywhere was the perfect amount of challenge! The "basket" controls felt a little too slidey, and made precision a little more difficult. Otherwise, it was fun!~

As Peggle and every pachinko machine its great fun.. But as every pachinko machine i struggle to win more than once! Its tough as nails but a fun one, good job!

C++ and your own engine? Well done! The physics are so smoooth and I totally love the aesthetic. I wouldn't call the art just programmer's art, it has a vintage aesthetic and the color work really well together, gg!

Well done hard way programmer job. Funny game. I would more like to control the pad with the mouse, that gives more control. Thanks!

This was fun and I liked how everything bounced and moved. Thanks for the great submission!

This sounded like such a cool idea that I actually decided to compile it on Linux because I don't have a Windows PC. Luckily, it was pretty easy since you were using SDL, so all I had to do was slap together a CMakeLists.txt and conanfile.txt for deps. The only issue was that you were using some non-portable Microsoft IO functions (fopen_s, fscanf_s, etc) but those were easy to replace with the standard versions.

Here's the source + Linux build: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P0uvWrCEOC6Pkw_3S9RGakT8TLvSvrhC/view?usp=share_link

As for the game, it was pretty fun! It's kind of like peggle, but being able to control the basket/paddle at the bottom reminds me of brick breaker too. I wonder if it'd be fun to experiment with the break breaker idea a little, maybe by making it so that you can reflect falling seeds to replant them? That might also make it too complicated though.

Anyways, nice entry, and congrats on finishing a compo entry with a custom engine!

Awesome work @ale I didn't have enough time to do any ports unfortunately, thanks very much.
