not sure what I was supposed to do and dies and could not play again I really liked the art though and it seemed like it could have been good

cool take on the theme! I wish there was a little more you could do when the lights actually do go out, though. When the screen fully goes dark, I feel like I'd be better off just restarting the whole game. (also, impressive lighting effects! You def. nailed that part of the game)

That ending is very abrupt haha but cool dungeon crawler! Definitely a cool concept, the tension of managing matches was very stressful (in a good way) Great adventure design, very good for a short dungeon game

Very nice graphics and lighting effects! Challenging gameplay as well. It's pretty brutal with how quick you go through matches.

I'd like to see some more feedback on when my buttons do or don't do anything. Didn't know chests needed keys, so I was humping and mashing buttons with no success. And that attack doesn't do anything without a sword. Would be great to somehow communicate that to the player, I think.

@frib Thanks for the feedback. Time got the best of me and I just didn't have the time to solidify the user experience.

@paroxysmal I feel your pain lol, there's never enough time to develop everything. No worries!

Concept is great. Immediately panic inducing - find more matches!!! But fumbling around in the dark actually wasn't that fun. I felt like the matches should give me more light to make searching less random - maybe if I could see more of the level I would have a choice to try and remember the layout and make my way in the dark, or light another match to see further. Then the danger might not be running out of matches, but avoiding traps and other dangers within the level.

I couldn't find where to go once I got the sword :( really cool game :D

What really put me off was recognizing the main character art. Looks very similar to the one you see in a Udemy course - and basically everywhere. Thus, I question the rest as well. I feel this game doesn't belong to COMPO, where YOU produce everything yourself. Because if you don't - it's unfair to others who follow the rules. Please take a look at the rules for COMPO entry and derivative work.

But as JAM game this is quite fine. No problems if the game would be in that category.

Besides the conflict above, I think the game is nice. I like the delving and using the limited light to navigate through. The game could use some feedback, as others have also stated. Adding at least some sound - torch flickering or echoing steps for example - would enhance the immersion. I didn't get far, but I hope you get more matches along the way.

I appreciate the fact that you give instructions in the first room, but I could barely read it and then I run out of time and it all goes dark. Maybe consider keeping the light for the first room on.

The first time I was reaching for a controller, the game had ended and I wasn't able to try again. Every time I "play again" the game is already over, receiving the state from previous run.

I won't be rating this until the category changes. Let me know if you do that.

Well done.

That ended so quick haha ^^ I really liked it, I wonder if you run out of matches do you just have to let yourself die? haha thankfully that never happened. Wish it was longer I wanted to keep going :) great game!

Very cute entry ... although if @coderaurus is correct - it's really unfortunate if you used existing graphics for a compo entry. The entry itself was very moody and still a good job :thumbsup_tone1:
