Really cool little game! I liked the exploration aspect. Maybe each tower could work as a spawn point so you don't get sent back to the start?
The enemy bullets seem a bit fast but I eventually got the hang of dodging them. I don't think the retry counter is incrementing. All in all, decent 2D shooter.
That's a pretty decent game. You've taken the base concept of a top-down shooter and extended it with some additional quirks like the tower bosses. The primary loop feels a little off, I think it needs some polish with how the shooting actually feels. The map also lacks variation in a way that makes it less replayable, which is a problem since this is a game where you die often.
That said, I think there's something to be said about how cool it feels once the initial difficulty ramp is overcome. I think the running and gunning is relatively fun. The art is simple but gets the job done. Overall, I'm glad I played it.
(I couldn't figure out what the Reset thing was. I get that it's an easter egg kinda situation, but worth considering how cryptic you want it to really be)
@vektrus since i wanted to join both gamejams but didnt have time to make a game for both i used the themes of both jams and made one game. The game was only made during the time of ld jam and i might update it but not sure maybe after a few months or smth if im free to update it.
When you get the hang of anticipating oncoming enemies firing bullets at you, it's actually quite enjoyable. Bosses break up the pacing well. Very difficult though!
There's something here, but lots of small things get in the way. The rate of fire is fast enough I wish I could just hold down the mousebutton, especially since there doesn't seem to be a downside for shooting. Also, I wish the screen would focus on somewhere between the mouse and the player, so you could see further in the direction you were going, the little men came at me so fast I rarely could relate. Fullscreen on itchio would also be nice, since my movement stops if I accidentally click outside the screen. I enjoyed the look of the game!
@steve-dragon thank you for that comment it really helps when people tell me what i can change, yes the reset button is actually quite imporant lol you can honestly just kill all enemies and then have nothing to do but when you reset it increases difficulty so as to play along with the theme death is inevitable so even if u succeed now you will die at some point although the increment isnt a lot when you reset it just adds 2 to the enemy damage and health (every reset so 2 resets would add 4) and 1 to the player damage and health guess i should have made that number more. the reset button will have some exploring to be done to find i probably should have made some markings for how to find it. Thanks a lot for that comment it gives me a lot to think about the game
@goat srry to say but that idea wouldnt work because whenevr u reset the difficulty increases so making it so u spawn at the tower after a reset ould mean instant death and to fit with the theme the death had to be a full restart but yes i could make respawn points at some point and make levels randomly generated so that even when u reset you still have the same sense of adventuring that you wouldnt have if you just memerised the map but i didnt do that because i simply didnt have much time. @sammot yea the increment is too less to notice at start game but ye its actually wayyy too low i didnt really have time to playtest a lot i shouldve definitely made it wayyyyy more. I do realise it now when people point it thank you im learning a lot from these comments.
@ferociter yes it is probably very difficult since i am the developer i know where the enemies are coming from and other factors that can help so yes i forgot to account for difficulty ty for the comment
Would love a screen shake or color change when bullets hit you to really "feel" the hit. Had a lot of fun playing! Good job!
@lohii thank you for the comment i tried almost everything you mentioned but most of them didnt work because im too bad at fixing other problems that came with them as for the shooting while holding down i just couldnt figure out how much the delay between shots should be and stuff like what i could do to stop the person from just holding it down the entire time since there is no ammo and reload. tysm for the comment
@gravityflip lol ty i didnt expect many people to like the game lmfao im so glad people did. yes i did think of color change but making those simple (trash) animations took up like most of my time so the rest was a full grind
Really nice game, altough i didnt like that i got shot by the towers when i cant see them
@phoenixofforce yes the camera is actually quite small i couldnt make it bigger because then you would just be able to see the entire map and that would ruin adventuring but yea i shouldve added some indicator that enemies or bosses are coming ty for the feedback
nice game, it feels good to play, maybe you could add some screenshake or some feedback for when you get hit
Don't be worry to say in the description that the jam was for the black & white too ! I think it would be interresting to let a way for the player to avoid bullets (active shield or dash, less speed on bullets) I thought that the parralax was pretty

@gravityflip another thing i forgot to mention was since its for black n white color switching wasnt possible but i thought of a like opacity change and then back to full opacity to show it
