Space games are my favorite. After getting a handle on the controls, I had fun flying into the sun and seeing different planets. There were some objects around the world that you could interact with, but whenever I did I just got and error and no effect. Still a cool game.

Thanks @thedevatlas for finding the bug! It must have happened during export, we will fix it asap.

enad96 2022-04-05 09:53

@thedevatlas Should be fixed now

WOW!!!!! In a game jam??? This is hella impressive

sagiii 2022-04-05 16:57

Hello! I had issues the first times I played the game but I could experience it a bit. I didn't know what to do but I found the game super chill and I liked to explore.

gandelianna 2022-04-05 20:47

Space games have some special atmosphere:3 Soundtrack is great!

jeremy-selwyn 2022-04-05 21:38

Really enjoyed the music and general feeding of being in vast space! Playing your game was inspiring. Wasn't able to find the lore, but might return later.

pierre-baudoin 2022-04-06 12:51

I didn't play Outerwilds and had a hard time moving. But this looks quite cool if you master it. Big up for the music !

c64gamer 2022-04-06 22:07

Space Games <3 <3 Thumbs up :-) Good work.

dingledorf 2022-04-07 01:37

@gandelianna @jeremy-selwyn @pierre-baudoin Thanks so much for playing! I'm really happy you like the music, it was a lot of fun to make :D

Nice chill game. The music was great. The movement took a while to get used to, I spent a lot of time stuck inside the planetoids. Fairly sure I found everything. I enjoyed the stories.

I'm not sure what I was supposed to do but I just explored some planets while listening to the masterpiece of a soundtrack. Nice and relaxing experience

caladrius 2022-04-09 11:01

This has been my favourite entry into this current jam so far, so I feel I owe it to you to give some detailed feedback from a a place of love: - Adored the soundtrack, wouldn't change a thing about it. Nothing better than comfy music during space exploration - The atmosphere was phenomenal, caught myself flying around for way longer than I thought I would just because it was so lovely to do so - Controls were actually pretty intuitive once I got the hang of them. I feel that "Jetpack" may have been a bit unclear in the instructions as it took me a while to realise how it was impacting my movement. Felt great to fly around once I had that down. Maybe an auto-reorient button would've been awesome as I did find myself holding it down for the most part - Your low poly planets looked great, but I think this really caused a noticeable mismatch in the skybox style. I reckon if you hand-drew a cartoony space skybox and fixed the UVs on the model it'd look fantastic - I think the logs were fairly contrived, I feel I was reading books but giant books placed along planets. Something a bit more techy to match the tone and atmosphere would probably have fit better here. The writing was great though, it's a shame there's no score for writing in Ludum Dare because I would've absolutely handed you a 5 for that - I really had no idea what I was trying to do, but I'm assuming there's a log I missed somewhere that provided a username and password for the log-in screen? If there's more to the game, I'm truly sorry I didn't get to see it. Let me know if I was missing something and I'll definitely go back and check; though I didn't account my own shortcomings into the score I gave you, so don't worry about that

This is an incredibly ambitious project for two people, and I think you really nailed the core of what you were trying to do. Props to you!

dingledorf 2022-04-09 12:24

@caladrius It makes me really happy to hear that you liked our game, and thank you so much for your super detailed feedback!

- You're totally right, the auto-reorient would've worked much better as a toggle. Will put it on the TODO list for a possible postjam build! - The skybox idea would also be an excellent thing to put in a postjam build, thank you! - Your comments on the logs are totally fair. From the outset we knew we wanted some kind of interesting storyline and lore, but in the end we were a bit too ambitious with our scope and the presentation of the logs suffered a bit as a result. I'll pass on your praise to our writer, however! - The vagueness of the login screen is totally on us, we had a kind of 'ending' mapped out but due to the approaching deadline (and all-nighter delirium) the implementation ended up being pretty poorly-communicated. [*Spoiler for how to get the ending*]: The idea was that through reading the logs, the player would eventually figure out (or guess) that they are playing as one of the named characters. By entering that character's name in the login screen, they would get the ending.

Thank you once again for the incredible feedback! However, in fairness to the others, I should probably dispel the impression that we're only two people -- we actually had three others in our team (one who created the splash screen and otherwise functioned as our 'ideas guy', one who wrote all our data logs, and one who collaborated with me on the music). They just haven't created accounts haha.

Outermilds :)

tcoder12 2022-04-10 10:48

HOLY SHIT! AMAZING GAME! Loved the concept and I felt really relaxed while I was playing the game! Thank you for making my day!

noobhereo 2022-04-10 23:16

Gotta love the space background with those low poly renders that feels so out of place but still works somehow. It almost felt very nostalgic to me. Great audio by the way. Really impressive for a game jam project as well!

noobhereo 2022-04-10 23:17

It actually reminds me a bit of FTL if you are familiar with it, even though its so different.

dob 2022-04-10 23:23

Great music, nice visuals. I enjoyed exploring, but I don't feel like I accomplished very much of the intended story.

neilkleistgao 2022-04-15 10:48

Great music and graphics. I love exploring in the game. :)

musaspacecadet 2022-04-15 18:56

i'll try to re-plicate this , where can i contact you ? instagram ? twitter ? where

dingledorf 2022-04-15 23:23

@musaspacecadet I'm glad you like it! Unfortunately we don't have any socials for you to contact us on, but if you'd like some pointers, here are some tutorials that we followed:

We also have our project files and source code up on github if you'd like to check it out (though it's a bit of a mess, sorry!)

musaspacecadet 2022-04-16 06:13

thanks I'll check them out

rewzu 2022-04-16 14:00

Quite a relaxing game with great music. However, the movement could be a bit more intuitive and you can easily get stuck or clip through objects. Overall it is a neat game. Great job!

flogames 2022-04-20 22:19

I really enjoyed the relaxing music's Space Oddity vibes, but the controls got me slipping and sliding through the galaxy. By accident I stumbled upon the right journal and logged in as M***. There's probably some epic lore hidden inside the text journals, but I didn't have much patience to explore them all and piece them together. With more casual controls I would have played longer. The graphics have a trashy retro-charme, interesting, but it wears off after a while.
