Short and sweet. I liked the story and the enemies.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD49 → Half Summoned

Dammit, Geoffrey! Nice little dungeon crawler.
I really like this take on the theme! I feel as though a little more juice would really sell the player's actions, though. It took me a while to figure out what the life drain ability was doing. Otherwise though, a really nice little jam game!
Tell Geoffrey I forgive him
I like the mood, the humor and the cute graphics the most 😁. Its cool you were able to fit in a little opening sequence. It would have benefitted from more content, though. People don't play LD games for long but it was a little short. I like the idea of a player character who changes shape like that. :O
I hope Geoffrey gets well! ;) I enjoyed the physical aspect of the game. It's nice to see enemies pushed around and respond to your attacks and move around and away from you instead of simply charging. I always enjoy such things in games. I agree with Tom, that life drain could be more emphasized, as I didn't realize what that form was doing until my second run. Good entry! :) And thanks for playing our game!
Digging the different states the beast can take a lot!
Other than that, a short but very competent game at what it does. I actually thought of a very similar game when the theme was announced :D
Something you may consider: On my first playthrough I just walked by the enemies, not interested in any rough-housing and it worked exceptionally well! If you didn't expect the eldritch horror to be a pacifist, maybe introduce some factors of exploration so the foes actually become a hinderance?
But like I said, other than that very competent, and very respectful of my time! Thank you for your entry!
I think this is the best game I played so far at LD. I love the graphics, there is a small story and a good amount of content. It's similar to mine, so that's why it's great :) No in all honest it's amazing what you did in such a short amount of time. Gratz. I love the enemy types. In honesty I would rather have had fewer enemies but more polishes because some of them seemed a bit rough. I would also have loved more animations on the main guy. But I mean this is minor things, your game is amazing.
Great little game. Would love to see it expanded with more states. the cutscene at the start was great and game all the story that was needed. I would have liked a state that would but you on the defensive, Maybe something like a state that does no damage but heals over time. Overall a great little game, Love the artwork and sound design
Cool art and overall game. However I felt just avoiding enemies was the better option throughout the game so I think giving the player an incentive to kill enemies would be better
This is a really cool concept, and if fleshed out could make a super sick game. I loved how you randomly changed forms. I wish each form had a completely different playstyle though. For the most part I just had to hold down click to kill the enemies. If you were to make this into an actual release, that would be something to consider. The possibilities with this are endless - especially if you do some procedural generation. I also really liked the first cutscene. It was funny. I would recommend a bit more player feedback for when you got hurt, but that was about it.
Thank y'all for the feedback. :D
@tom-robson good point about the life drain feedback. I could probably add some plus particles or animate the healthbar. :) I'll keep that in mind.
@trexxak lol, yeah. I had wanted to do locked doors. Like you enter a room and have to clear the enemies first. Though you think the knight's would've been running to the door to get out. xD
@dev-dennis For the longest time the game didn't have but one enemy, the tiny archer knight and imo it was a little boring. It wasn't until the other enemies were added that you had to be mindful of your position and who was attacking.
@mateu Fantastic point, I agree. I think expanding the player's actions would be the greatest benefit to this game. So that they'd have to more rapidly adapt to the changes. Thank you. :)
solid entry, the art and the music were well done! i did end up running past every one, they were too cute :^(
Very nice pixel art and great controls. The hp draining form seemed like it was a bit too strong or easy to work with, since you could just click and hold, then circle around enemies until you change forms, so sometimes I just waited until that form showed up to keep attacking the enemies.
Great but short experience
Cool game! Like the different monsters and having to maneuver based on who you're playing as. The bombs were kinda weird, I wasn't sure how big the radius was and whether I was getting hurt by it or not. Having some explosion animation or sprite would help that a lot. Was pretty short and sweet otherwise.
That was definitely cute, and the core idea is solid. I can imagine a much deeper gameplay experience where you don't have control of a shifting character. I think you did a nice job in the time though! Particularly like the little knights.
My main criticisms are that the tentacle ability and the other large, flying one (soul sucking?) are essentially identical from a gameplay perspective. Also in the last room I was basically able to just zip by all the knights to the exit.
Fun little dungeon crawler, though. Nice work!
