yeah what the person above me said ^^^
is the hitboxes for the first set of spikes off??
and after that 'K' looking thing theres just blank space but i kept dying even though theres nothing
The hit box from the spikes are 8x8 although the sprite is smaller @mechanizedit.
Hit box for the first spike only tigers if you fall over them @paperaeroplane555. There is a very small sprite of two squares with a 8x8 hit box that you may be killing you.
Although it is possible to venture even further in to the unstable reality we will take in the feed back and remake the level and sprites to make it more user friendly!
I fond the game is quite hard. Or maybe there is something I missed?
I also found it very hard to make progress. Especially the two-pixel sprite was barely visible with the emulator. I find it a very interesting idea to make a game boy game though. It just needs to be a bit more obvious where everything's hitbox is.
The game is a bit hard we have remade the first level hope you like it! @dekajoo
We have released the final version of the game please give it another try! @mechanizedit @paperaeroplane555 @dekajoo @gerox
Well, when I think of "unsable" gbdk is one of the first things that comes to mind
I just grabbed the game in the past 5 from the main branch on github (the link provided here) and gave it a shot. The sound is interesting - it feels like it's coming from a boss level at the end of a game, but glitchier. That was pretty cool.
The glitchy graphics and graphic swaps are a cool effect. I'll admit I still had quite a bit of trouble with the platforming though. With the glitchiness it's kind of hard to tell where is solid and where isn't, or why you die at a certain point in a jump.
Still, it's a fun game, and I always love seeing entries made for classic consoles! Thanks for an interesting game.
@cppchriscpp Its awesome that you liked our "easter eggs"! We must admit that working with an SDK for the Game Boy is hard, even more when the team had 0 or close experience in game development :D
@cppchriscpp Thanks for mentioning the background music. I was in charge of writing it since I sorta do music as a hobby. It was my first time using tracker software to write 8-bit music, really interesting experience! It was really tricky to compile it to C files and link it to the game, the process is not very obvious.
With regards to the music itself, I just started to play a bass line using OpenMPT and kinda went with what I came up with on the spot. You are definitely right, it sounds like a final boss track  . I had to import the .mod file to the huGETracker app though, because we faced some troubles in using gbt player to play the music. The sound would come out extremely corrupted, which in a sense was interesting, but it ruined the listening experience quite a bit. So we switched to huGEDriver and there it is!
Never thought I'd be playing a gb game jam game, but I had a lot of fun with it. It was pretty difficult, but the art and music kept me going. Nice game!
Like the idea but hard to understand what you need to do to progress
Played it on a 3DS and had a lot of fun with it.
The platforming is hard but ultimately feels fair. I love what you've done with the graphics too!
The game was pretty hard but it was really cool to see a game boy game made for a jam!
I love the style! I feel like the platforming could have been a little tighter ('twas a little floaty) but it was a very well executed and cool idea! For the GameBoy, no less!
Playing an actual GameBoy game was super neat, and I liked the implementation of buggy garbage stuff. Controls did not feel very nice, and the intense flashing from the glitch mechanic was brutal on the eyes. Nice music!
