I can definitely see big improvements in your games! Even though the sound was quite loud, it fit the game well! The movement was pretty good too, I liked the creativity of the levels :)

Well done, congrats on finishing a very polished game within 3 days!

Damn Ezekiel can jump! Pretty cool platformer with lots of variety. If the enemies were a bit bigger I wouldn't ignore them so much though.

Speedrunable game

Excellent variety of levels and obstacles! All the more impressive when I know how much you had to fight the engine to get this made. Can't wait to see what you make when that's no longer holding you back!

very fun platformer. Got some nice polish on it and I appreciate the 1.1 version with quality of life fixes.

I gave you my feedback during my stream earlier, but I just wanted to congratulate you again on getting this all done with a good level of quality in just a weekend!

great little platformer, enemys a little small when we want to jump on it, or maybe to much speed in the air :p But I had a lot of fun playing it, GG!

I promise to write out a more thorough comment, but in the meantime, here's a recording of my live-play-through: https://youtu.be/8_LZxCDpWIE?t=6869

Aside: the recording is really bright because I have an HDR screen. Since that doesn't stream well, I've applied an HDR-to-SDR LUT filter, which...isn't a perfect translation.

Great game and variety of levels! The characters were charming (especially the lil pink dudes with their different outfits :D) and it felt like a polished game. The music+ sound effects fit really nicely with the art style and gameplay. I didn't notice this when I played on stream, but its pretty awesome that you can kill the enemies by dropping blocks on their head! Makes me wonder about what other interactions I might have missed

Suggestions: -I think the camera in the updated version moves too fast and the camera feels jerky. If think slowing down the transition will help would be a good middle ground between the 2 versions. -enemies are too small for how fast the player moves. Sometimes it was hard to jump on them

On second re-watch of my playthrough, I failed to realize how many subtle, yet incredibly helpful animations and details you've added in that gives this game an extraordinary polish to it. I thought the controls in the game were really tight, and the clever level design helped me learn and understand the main mechanic of each stage. I'm really impressed by it all.

Personally, a few main negatives that stood out to me were the size of the enemies, dealing with enemies in underwater segments, and the camera positioning. For the enemies, I personally thought they were too small when in the regular platforming stages to feel worth killing. At the few points where it was necessary to bop on a few of them, the lack of volume made it difficult to get those interactions right. It also doesn't help that by default, Exekiel moves very quickly, so I often overshot my jumps.

I also had a hard time dealing with enemies during the underwater segments, mainly because it didn't feel like I've had a way to defeat them, nor get away from them in an expedient manner. It would have been nice to at least have a boost to swim in other directions besides up so evasion would be easier. And lastly, I would have liked to see a look-ahead camera implemented: that is, if the player is moving right, also have the camera pan to the right of the character. Given your firm understanding of platformers, though, I assume this was more due to lack of time than anything.

Had a lot of fun playing this short experience! Would definitely like to see more, even if it wasn't made in GDevelop!

Very well polished game, I don't think I saw any bugs at all that's amazing for a jam game. The audio was perfect as it has a sound effect for every single action or reaction on an object or event. The theme was well incorporated into the game as kind of a background story and worked as a stage change so well done on that. I did have slight troubles controlling the character but it's a minor issue because all it did was made me die more. My personal feeling about this is this feels a bit close to a Mario Clone I saw the implementation of the bullet bill mechanic, where it travels in a straight line and destroy blocks, I saw the movement of goomba but a lot faster, I do have to say the underwater enemy felt pretty nice. But yea, congratulation on finishing the Jam!

Great little game! I liked the opening of the game to illustrate what was happening to the character. The music was cute and fitting for what was going on. I was able to clear the game, and I enjoyed the different platformer mechanic for each stage. Well done!

I don't know why you opted out of the Mood category, it's the game's strong point. You created really a great mood with neat graphics and cut scenes. Even though I'm not a platformer person (the last one I played with passion was Commander Keen 4), it felt good to hop around as controls were fluid and everything was well drawn.

But if I may give you an advice, you should avoid punishing players for playing your game. It's ok if it is hard, but it shouldn't be punishing. What I mean by that is making players redo walks across the level when they make a slight mistake towards the end of it. I know we all feel our game deserves attention, but the folk on Ludum Dare usually can't give much time to a single entry. In this case, the part where you have to bounce over three flying purple things to cross the spikes, I failed it a few times (not very skilled at that stuff) and almost gave up, but then when I managed to do it instead of a reward I got an unexpected collapse and got sent back to start. And after failing the jumps again I had to give up, which is frustrating as the rest of the game is cool and I wanted to see more of it.

But good job in overall, keep going at it. Btw I played the original version, which I tend to do when rating (unless there is a clear statement about what was changed in patches, perhaps add this statement).

skvader-418 2021-10-13 22:10

@kr4ft3r oh crap, did the cnanonball kill you at the end of the collapse? that wasnt meant to happen, that is just a trick, when you fall down the bridge, you get sent to another level. i forgot to remove the fact that the canon ball kills you. But thanks for your review and advice :D

Good level design and the aesthetic is simple but very beauty and unique. I realy enjoy your game! Well done!

This was fun game with quite classical platforming mechanics :) ...there were some bugs, for example taking damage sometimes when crushing an enemy. Still nothing game-ruining.

The game was a bit short and ended quite abruptly but you got alot done in that time as a one-man-team. The sounds were fitting to the whole game and I liked the song alot!

The 'glitches' were also nicely made with both visual and sound and they played well for the overall mood.

Good job!
