Sorry about that, forgot to switch it to public after uploading
The graphics are great, so are the upgrades I'd reduce the "idle time" at the beginning I would love to feel more progression during the waves, maybe a counter, maybe a meter that fills up from kills (that way the player would feel like he's flling a quota or something)
I liked the animation, particularly the player's bendy torso.
I would recommend either revealing the cards before the player makes a choice, or giving the player an upgrade without making them pick. Making a choice between three options but not knowing what the options are isn't really making a choice. It's just rolling dice.
I would also recommend making the early waves very short. If there's not much peril to the player, there's not much tension to keep their attention.
Nevertheless, this was well-put-together.
Really like the graphics and the mood. One thing that I think you could have added is a sound effect to the death of enemies. But anyways Good Job =D
TODO: review game
Love the mood and art style in general. I did find it a little hard to see what was going on playing in a brightly lit room though, so maybe a gamma setting could have been helpful? Definitely glad I checked back on this one. I agree with the comment that a blind choice between 3 doesn't really feel like a choice at all, I think showing the cards first would be more satisfying to the player and allow them to strategize and plan a little more (my first run I got 3 movement speed cards for my first 3 draws). I think your wave lengths are pretty great and the progression as far as I got was solid. I wasn't sure if there was a definite end to reach so I stopped after my second death.
Nice game ! Love the animations, the muzzle flash and sound are cool, I like that recoil effect so much that I was sad when I got the recoil reduction bonus ! =D
The balancing is ok, if you get the right upgrades, you can make it past a few waves and it's fun.
The only thing I don't get is why you used a vectorized background, it goes against the nice pixel art aesthetic you have in the rest of the game... I'd rather you left it black.
Still, nice work !
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I've tried to implement as many suggestions as I could, here is a little list of changes I've made. - Added laser to make seeing where you are shooting a little easier. - Cards are now shown but there are only 2 now. - Platform moves a bit faster to make for less idle time between floors. - Did a little rebalancing. - Brightened it up a little.
Very cool game! I like it very much, but in the beginning when you have to shot a bug twice it got much more difficult if you only missed a single shot, in the time you need to shoot again there is another bug and so in the end i had 4 bugs at one time or maybe I am just bad at the game, other than that it is pretty fun!

Nice game. Love the character art and animation.
@pez4251 nicely done!
Nice little game ! we ask more weapons haha !gg team
I really like the game and I think it has a lot of potential. I think the upgrades are not all balanced. Damage and fire speed is much superior to all the other options. I think an ammo system would go a long way with upgrades such as reload speed and ammo capacity would balance fire speed cards. I can see the movement speed and health cards being useful if there were ranged enemies that you have to dodge.
Gameplay aside, I really like the overall visuals, the lights and the shooting sound is satisfying.
Honestly I would pay money for this game if it gets developed further with more general content. Different weapons with separate playstyles, more enemies with varied mechanics, bosses maybe.
Deserving game. Adding different types of enemies will do more attracive this game) Cool for first jam)
fun game that felt pretty good! just wish that the game progressed in difficulty or variation. couldn't manage to get hit despite being covered by the bugs and trying to deliberately get hit
A really fun game, although the cards can screw you (on my first run I died on stage 2, because of bad luck). I think you can improve some things: differen enenmy types to make the gameplay more interesting (it gets repetetive after 30+ level), maybe add different weapon types that you can pick up via the card system. I think it would also be funny to have boss fights after every 10 levels or so.
Overall this game has potential to get developed even farther.
For your first Ludum Dare game it is very solid (better than my first game). For LD it is important to prioritize a working game and add more features at the end when you have time left. (I still struggle with this part...)
Simple game well executed, the visuals are great but I miss various things: -Sound when bugs die. -Damage card is too overpowered and makes the game too easy by round 15.
Anyway I enjoyed the game and you can upgrade a lot of stats. Good Job.
Nice and fun game!I would have liked to see other monsters a little harder to kill. Also a little background music would have been nice.
I really like the world of the game, it is beautiful. And the game mechanics where you have to choose a card to get a bonus is a good idea, good game
