fun game, really like the simplicity but the mechanics are intuitive and work really well

Sound needs to be turned right down, absolutely destroyed my ears hahaha.

Super good use of time as the main mechanic between the combo system and speed of travel through different stones. It gives the gameplay quite a bit of depth and strategy through planning based around the constant of time. I did find it difficult to lose however, so decreasing the rate gas appears quicker or more spaced out would help increase the difficulty and potentially give the player more direction to their choices.

TODO: review game

pixelhurricane 2021-04-26 05:15

@corbeng as you drill deeper denser stone becomes more common and the thickness of hazards increase, between those two things I figured it would make the game difficult after an appropriate amount of time but perhaps I increased it too slowly. Thank you for the detailed review!

Fun idea, always enjoyed motherlode. I really like the different densities in the earth. The sound is really loud and quite grating after a short time. how to play screen could be more readable

fun, I'm not sure I understood every mechanic. I liked the fact that different colored block took more or less time to dig. In terms of art, I think a more restritive color palette could've made the sprite really come together. Overall: great idea !

Cute game. Definitely on brand with the theme. My one cricitism would be maybe the slowing down shouldnt be SO drastic. It really slows progression quite a bit. Other then that great game and great job! :)

blackopsben 2021-04-27 00:29

That was really good! I love the interesting mechanics and decisions you have to make because of the various dig speeds as well as inability to to back up. Nicely done!

I think mechanic of combo should become main power of gameplay. Faster you dig to "shinies" means longer combo and bigger score. That means you need to dig through easier soil! I think all the gameplay should be rebalanced while keeping in thought that combo is prior. That means less tough soil, more distance between gold and silver - and overall faster gameplay. Overall great game and solid base to improve on to!

I really had fun playing this XD.

Nice tutorial

icefallgames 2021-05-10 22:33

Ok, this is actually pretty neat. It felt buggy at first (with how quickly I was moving, making it hard to position myself), until I understood what was going on - the tutorial screen didn't help when I originally read it. It's so fast paced it's hard to develop a strategy for though! But pretty impressive effort for a game jam.

euler-moises 2021-05-15 03:32

Congratulations! A solid ideia! Continue to develop the project.

It's just so fun. I played a lot of games with this “digging” theme, including my own, but I feel this game is one of the most interesting.

monkosum 2021-05-15 12:38

This game is really polished for something made in 2 days. There are some pretty simple mechanics that work really well together. Pretty solid entry.
