It crashes when I press play :(

In general its quite nice and the particles make for a pretty good fire effect, though i found hit detection to be a bit wonky and sometimes it snaps back to a fire i wasn't even aiming at.

azakharov 2021-04-26 06:24

What the goal?

ryan-romero 2021-04-26 06:27

The game is meant to be relaxing with the goal of survival. You can upgrade your player by pressing E!

I love those fire particles! I wouldn´t add chromatic aberration tho...

Relax game.

Nice chill game :open_mouth: Bug found : I can upgrade even with 0 to spend (it goes -1, -2, -3 and so on). So... UNLIMITED POWER !! :fire: :fire: :fire:

Interesting idea. It seems the buying system lets you spend ashes you don't have. Some SFX would really juice it up!

Overall a simple little game idea. And I really liked the music. The game could perhaps need some more gameplay, but it's not too bad for compo game.

What a unique concept! It’s definitely got a meditative vibe. The guitar music is pleasant; I think some fire crackling sounds would have been a great addition, but I have no idea how I’d record those sui generis for a compo game. I did find myself wrestling with the camera a lot—some more smoothing on it might have helped. It’s a lot of fun for such a straightforward idea, though—nice work!

Very unique and innovative! Took me too long to realize that fires I left off the chain go out. It was sometimes a bit hard to navigate and tell where I was. But I would love to see this expanded! Well done!

Looks pretty, wish I could test it cause Mac build isn't working :D It just says "Can't be opened". I had similar problem before with my friend's game. He said i can fix it by running in terminal this command ||| chmod -R +x app_name.app/Contents/MacOS |||. It worked then, but your app doesn't work after this fix anyway Screenshot 2021-04-29 at 00.52.44.png

Good game. I love the fire particles and the music. Maybe later you can add a fireplace sounds :D

congrats on finishing! that mechanic is super unique, very fun to play; and the graphics/audio is just the icing on the cake. simple, yet very effective!

my only gripe really is that it is kind of hard to control the game properly with WASD; if you're going to make a post-jam version, I would maybe change the main control to using your mouse instead so the player can aim better.

otherwise, this is a pretty solid entry! great work ^^

A very unique idea! This is quite nicely made, the music and atmosphere work well together. The visuals are also very well done, especially the effects/filters of the fire and near the edges of the screen.

The controls are quite hard to use since not all fires are in the 8 directions that you can use using WASD. Making it use the mouse would have helped with this. And the camera is quite jerky when moving around.

Thank you to everyone who has played my game so far! I appriciate it!

good game, very interesting

This was a pretty nice relaxing game. The controls with the keyboard are a bit challenging. It also wasn't clear what things I could do in the game or what my goals were, but I still found the experience enjoyable. I think adding some crackling fire sounds would have gone a long way to improve the mood.

It was a relaxing, chill experience! It was a bit confusing to figure out what I was doing - but the gameplay was simple enough, and I think I got there in the end. Having the upgrade system for the fire was a neat addition, and helped add some progress to the game. It would've been nice if the upgrades were a bit clearer though, since they didn't seem to be doing anything for me, and I'm not sure what upgrading heat or size really achieved for the gameplay. The camera did feel difficult to use too - it jumped around, sometimes seemingly randomly, and also might've rotated at times? It was a little difficult to use.

On the other hand, the graphics and effects were great. The lighting and shadows, the RGB lighting effects, it helped make the game feel very atmospheric, and it looked very nice because of it. The way the camera smoothly moved around with the WASD keys was also good, and it made the game feel that bit more polished. The music was fitting for the feel of the game, although some sound effects would've been a great addition - some faint crackling noises, a whoosh or something when you lit a new fire - it would've helped make the game a bit more engaging.

It was a nice experience, regardless, and I enjoyed this entry - well done!

It's a great game with amazing music, lighting and nice effects. However, it is confusing when you start and from my experience some of the camera movement is jittery when you switch from one campfire to the other.
