Unique concept for sure. Nice job!
This is a cool game! I would suggest making the jump button space but other then that it is a good game!
I liked the movement, was nice and smooth. The lazers are pretty unforgiving but that just made me want to beat it more :D Well done
This had me going "Oh No! - Yay - Oh No!" throughout. Thanks.
Truly a good entry if you ignore the theme. It would be nice if there was some visual indication that the edges of the map were impassable.
Great game! I thought it controlled really well and the level design was clever. My only real issues are that the music gets repetitive and the pixel density isn't consistent between sprites.
smooth introduction. just took me a little long to pay enough attention to the lazers
I was only able to make it around half way through the second level, I'm not very good. But it was fun memorizing the patterns of the white blood cells, they really made it tricky.
Excellent graphics and gameplay. Great intro to the controls while in game. A game that is easy to pick up but hard to master. Well done.
Very nice, it was very fun to play! I just have a small issue with the moving platforms, you do know this is not how physics work, right? When you stand still on a moving platform, you’re supposed to move with it :D
@fractal Oh yeah! You're right I should have implemented that.
Good idea to have include control help at the beginning of the level, it's usefull and it's allow the player to enter quickly in the game. I like the laser animation, it's very nice.
Maybe the main character is a bit too small, and it missing a support for azerty keyboard.
@fractal, you're right, character should move with the platform.
Overall, a good job.
@duck-reaction Sorry, i didnt think about azerty keyboards when making the game, I hope it wasn't too problematic for you
@atinybean don't worry, I still enjoy the game :smiley_cat:
I had fun! The music was pretty funny and the platforming was nice. A thing that could be changed is to make the first enemy you encounter be able to detect if he's walking on ground or not, because it looked odd when I opened the gate and the enemy was walking on the air. Good job!
@spadekhemoglobiny Oh actually the first enemy is a flying enemy. Thanks for the feedback though!
@everyone Thanks for the feedback!
Pretty solid idea. I liked dodging the vertical lasers the best. I think you could have taken out the flying enemies and spent more time on the laser patterns, and it would have been a bit more engaging. Having to decide whether or not to stop or go based on the terrain would add an interesting element of decision making.
The movement speed in the air was much faster than the movement speed on the ground. In general, players expect to have the same speed. I was bunny-hopping my way through most of the levels in order to go slightly faster.
Good job!
Very good game. I knew exactly what I needed to do and had no problems getting through the game (no bugs I mean). good challenge and variation as you get deeper and deeper. Good job!
@andrewkennedy Thanks! I was thinking about making a rhythm game for this jam so I might expand on the vertical lasers and incorporate rhythm aspects in the future.
That would actually be a really cool twist!
Nice solid game. At first it wasn't clear how to know the laser beams are coming but after a being hit a handful of time I figured it out.
I liked that you had to find the DNA strand on every floor before you could move down it created a nice mini game loop inside the overall game loop. I also love the little tutorial text in the background in the beginning (i'm stealing this idea for my next jam game)
The controls of the character felt a little stiff and I felt like i was fighting the game trying to make my character move the way I intended. I would work on making those feel a bit smoother and easier to control. This is something you just get a feel for after you've played alot of platformers and try to implement their movement styles. There is definitely a "way" we are all used to a character moving in platformers that history of gaming has impressed upon us.
Good luck with any improvements you make and in the next game jam if you participate!
