Pretty fun. It took a little work to figure out the button triggers for the doors, and eventually got stuck on the cannon. Enjoyed the sounds and the variety of sprites though.

Hahaha was für eine idee. Ich dachte anfangs das spiel wäre nicht ganz durchdacht als es nicht weiter ging bis mir die idee kam eines der kleinen zu opfern. Richtig schlaue und lustige idee. Das ende ist auch genial. xD (don't want to spoiler here). what is the oval element after the cannon for? I thought it was necessary but in the end it was not necessary.

dusho 2020-10-05 05:48

wonderful game.. brilliant idea and nicely done. The art is pretty, controls are smooth. The blades are really touchy, the levers could use some sound. Also that game window size for web is a bit too much for my 1080p, so I had to switch to full screen..

kyle-spence 2020-10-05 06:01

@mikelovesrobots You can interact with the cannon. Wont tell you more than that :). Glad you enjoyed it!

kyle-spence 2020-10-05 06:03

@rakowu thanks for playing the game. The oval element was our placeholder character before we could complete the pixel art. Decided to leave it somewhere in the game as an easter egg. Glad you enjoyed the game.

kyle-spence 2020-10-05 06:06

@dusho Thank you for the feedback and glad you enjoyed the game. Yeah we noticed a little late on how we set up collisions for the spikes being a little too aggressive. unfortunately we did a poor job of setting up our UI so the smaller resolution in itch.io doesn't come out well. Definitely plays best in full screen.

That was great! Nice little game. Puzzles are fun, decent use of the theme. Must've been fun figuring how to save those inputs... Good job!

protocap 2020-10-06 02:34

a really solid game, the pixel art was awesome too and the ending me me laugh pretty hard, my "cost" was pretty high (trying not to spoil it lol) also really liked how each "life" had a name, that was a pretty cool idea, only improvements to be made are fine-tuning the character's jumps, because he gets stuck on corners sometimes

charlotte-raymond 2020-10-06 02:39

Really liked this, beautiful art and cool concept. I got confused as heck trying to enter the building but overall thought you did a great job.

puncherbear 2020-10-06 04:11

That's really fun and really unique One problem is when your walking into the side of a block it keeps you from jumping, other than that the game is amazing.

batovski 2020-10-06 05:09

Wow! The core mechanic is an amazing! I like how you build levels and use your logic to make more FUN!

marc-antoine-girard 2020-10-06 05:15

Really liked the end. The hint you gave in the comment became quite handy when I got stuck

doctormozart 2020-10-06 05:20

That ending! :heartbeat: This was very cute and very fun. Really enjoyed it overall. Great work to everyone involved!

sarenei 2020-10-06 05:53

Thank you to everyone for all of the kind words and constructive criticism! We had a blast making it and it's amazing to see it be well received. I definitely see more jams for us in the future. 🥳

mitobattousai 2020-10-06 14:22

Amazing game! That twist in the end is magical. Thanks for this game.

sefan 2020-10-06 17:37

Nice game, I like that you need to die to complete the puzzles. The cannon was hard and I didn't figure out how to get past it.

noakishere 2020-10-06 18:00

Really cool ! I really enjoyed the graphics and the gameplay. One thing to improve could be the collisions? (unless it was intentional) cuz some spikes can get a bit much annoying. Apart from that, good job ! Be proud of yourselves people :)

projectaroid 2020-10-08 17:25

Nice play on the theme. I like how you have to use deaths and loops to move through the game. Cool game.

eden-shazar 2020-10-09 10:41

It's a nice little experience, and a good, straightforward interpretation of the theme :)

Two small nitpicks:

- Knowing there will likely be several characters on the screen at once at any given time, I would have either toned the copies' sounds down or changed the characters' sounds altogether to something that would be a bit less obtrusive when played so frequently. - My machine is getting pretty old now, but it probably still shouldn't be running a 2D web game at a low framerate (also making the game slightly unresponsive). Maybe you have some heavy calculation done in the update loop that you could be doing less frequently, or updating something that doesn't need to be such as inactive copies of the player?

Other than that, I enjoyed your game - good job making something that polished during a jam :)

turegrappa 2020-10-09 10:44

Awesome game! I love the gameplay, good job!

kamennsq 2020-10-09 10:46

The game is interesting) The idea of using previous body actions to complete the level is pretty cool for me. I'd like to have some sort of music on the background to make my experience more complex but still great game and great job!

kyle-spence 2020-10-09 17:46

@eden-shazar Thanks for the review and feedback. Its odd even for an old-ish computer to have a low framerate. We have noticed a small number of players seeing low framerate on chrome specifically. One of the players seeing this issue did not have the framerate problem on Firefox.

Well damn. I realised I was wasn't very good at platformers but thanks for making me realise I'm terrible haha! Really loved this and having each robot named was a great touch and really added to the ending. Nice puzzles that didn't get too samey as a lot of puzzle games will use the same button mechanism for the whole thing but your game made me think harder since you had to figure out what the buttons did and what sequence to use them and for how long. That cannon really had me stuck for far longer than it should have as well!

Anyway, really nice graphics and cute animation. The audio was cute too but maybe make it quieter for things happening further away since the cannon firing all the time did get a little distracting. Nice mood created with the lighting as well and just an overall great atmosphere!

As a couple of improvements, you could put a little "E" symbol or intruction for the first button as it is quite small and I didn't notice it for a while as I wasn't looking for it. That first door had me stumped! The other thing would be to just poligh off that jump mechanism that doesn't quite work up against a block like people have said already.

Really awesome game though! Well done!

I absolutely loved the ending - I don't want to spoil anything for anyone reading the comments, but it was perfect. It was a great payoff for the journey.

One small gripe that I had was that the first spikes were very hard to see against the gray background of the house - I died several times to those spikes without ever seeing them, and it made me assume that I didn't understand something about how the looping mechanism worked ("Do I die whenever all of my previous lives are dead?"). Once I saw the spikes and knew to avoid them, there were no other areas where I got stuck - The difficulty curve was not too steep or too shallow; I never felt completely lost, but still had to pay attention as I beat each puzzle :)

Overall, I had fun with the game! Good job!
