I love this game. I struggled with the first level, but stuck it out and stumbled up the steep difficulty curve. Learning to use the slingshot was a good time. The second level seemed like a reward for completing the tedious first, and I had a blast gunning down soldiers and axemen. Unfortunately after that the game crashed.
@brenno263 Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the second level. Shame about that crash, do you remember what the error message said by any chance? Thanks again!
@welby Thanks :)
I liked it. cute graphics! Stick eyes on it, right? ;)
great gameplay! it's pretty hard to kill the beattles when they reach the plant's base, but the graphics are pretty cool nice game!
a little gameplay (spanish) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUiufRh8-4A
Really a good one. The music was nice. But it would have been better if I could drag down to aim, but the current system is not bad at all. Overall, fun to play.
@incinious I was able to re-create the crash, here's the dump:Capture.PNG
I've also had issues with soldiers continuing to shoot during the growth cutscene post level-2, and the level1 music playing over the level2 music upon restart.
On an unrelated note, how did you make your music?
Very fun! The first level was a bit tedious, but the second level is very fun and funny. As others have, got a crash right before 3rd stage.
Great graphics and audio! Well done!
@brenno263 Thanks very much for screenshotting that! Yeah the shooting issue I've noticed, but hadn't heard of the music one.
The opening menu music I made in garage band, but the other three pieces are just royalty free that I found online :)
@jasonsumm1 Thanks! :) haha that's it, eyes make anything look cute
:( a little hard for me. the game is overall okay, but I think you should consider adding more effects to make your game's feature stand out, like making the ants brighter and polish the game art.
The concept looks simple but it's very easy to get overwhelmed by the number of bugs, and the exploding bugs, ugh, just the right annoyance that'll keep me playing for hours, overall, great time-killer! It seems that there are other levels but I haven't even gone through the first one yet.
This game went from a 3/5 to a 5/5 at a very specific moment that I won't spoil. This game is a very engaging and well-produced version of LD46's "keep the tower alive" niche. The very simple back and forth sway adds a lot more depth to the aiming, but my main quibble would be that the weapon in the mid-game is hard to control when enemies are very close. Overall a great second LD entry, but players be warned, you'll have to sit down and focus to survive.
I died into the victory screen! I really liked the concept behind this game. I loved the hard left turn into the gun scene. Awesome stuff and very funny. I had a bit of an issue with the way the projectiles came from a specific point on the character, which wasn't always able to be aimed at the thing I was going for. The conditions for meeting the next phase were also a bit muddy, and honestly probably could have been halved. Other than that, and a few technical hiccups, I enjoyed your game. Thanks for sharing!
Graphics are cool, game is fun. Nice and simple concept but easy to get swarmed!
I enjoyed this game, it is cute! The graphics look cool and the concept works well with the theme. However I think it may be a little too difficult. Especially when the bug is under the plant it is hard to hit which can make the game frustrating sometimes. Anyway, well done!
I really enjoyed the theme and really liked the look of the plant animating by bobbling back and forth. Unfortunately for me, tying the mechanics of the game to the bobbling made it too difficult to hit the bugs. I think it's already enough of a challenge with pulling back and aiming using the arc, adding the bobbling just made it frustrating. I think for the first level at least just a stationary place to fire from would've made the game a lot more playable for me. As it was, it gave me such an uneasy feeling trying to aim that I couldn't bring myself to try again after I'd lost twice, despite reading that people were having fun on the second level. Something else I might adjust is that it's extra punishing once bugs reach your plant. If I was having a hard time hitting them already, they were extra hard to hit when they're right underneath you. It makes less thematic sense, but perhaps making the bugs go away after chomping your plant some number of times would be less punishing
