*the game does not load for when I have ad blocker enabled*

I really like what you did with the playable intro and the cinematic cutscenes, it really helps creating a good atmosphere for your game.

👍pretty nice concept!

It doesn't work..

peto184 2020-04-20 11:19

I liked: - the colors and the art - gameplay was simple and controls easy to grasp

What was missing: - movement animations for the main character - any score indicator or indicator for when (or if) the night was ending

The game did not work in firefox for me. Nonetheless, congrats on finishing a great game :)

ege686 2020-04-20 11:22

You should add some animations.

majadroid 2020-04-20 11:37

Works on my system, also with ad-blocker. Fun little game-mechanic. The mood in the night is also good. Unfortunately games without sound tend to feel a little bit "empty".

xeke-death 2020-04-20 11:44

The intro sequence was cool. I like the character design.

Shame you didn't have the time to write the wood gathering part. How long does the night last? They never stopped coming!

klaus-peter 2020-04-20 12:11

@jonah Good to hear that you liked the cutscenes :D I was already a bit afraid that it was too much talking and too little action.

@peto184 Thanks for the feedback. Personally I would have liked to add animations but I spent too much time on the trees xD

@majadroid I agree that the feels empty without sound. I just have very little experience in making music or creating sounds.

@xeke-death The night is 2 minutes long. I wanted it to be a bit challlenging :P

tom-cumpsty 2020-04-20 14:03

I like the concept, it fits the theme well and the mood is great. I like how you used lighting. It would be good if it got harder faster and kept track of the number of monsters you kill.

wet-band-aid 2020-04-20 14:34

Simple and very enjoyable. The intro made me care about the objective

spthiel 2020-04-20 15:13

I think the speed is too slow now :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: but might be cuz I'm used to your debug speed hehe

gonzo13 2020-04-20 21:24

it was interesting to protect the child, but this is endless game?

klaus-peter 2020-04-20 21:42

@gonzo13 the attack in the night ends after 2 minutes

kultisti 2020-04-21 14:26

"I have no time to code this!" Best line ever, thats pretty much every gamejam in a nutshell :D But hey good work!

gquibao 2020-04-21 15:07

I liked your idea here. I think animations would be great addition for your game. I wasn't able to survive the 2 minutes in the night attack, so I don't know what happens after that. The child's position made a bit hard to protect her from attacks from the left, when the enemies reached the bonfire. But nice entry! I really liked what you did. Great work!

purpledartfrog 2020-04-22 11:44

cute  so I'm a kidnapper

:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

hhsaez 2020-04-22 21:29

I like the concept of this game. I couldn't save the kid, though. Controls are ok, but sometimes I get stuck with either the fire or the kid himself. Congrats!

kate90 2020-04-30 15:27

Hi, Great game! Pity that without sound. I was really stressed to save the child, unfortunatelly I failed twice already!

ryzy27 2020-05-02 11:01

I had to open the game in incognito mode (Chrome), otherwise I get error:

Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT collidable.js:6 Uncaught ReferenceError: Hitbox is not defined at new Collidable (collidable.js:6) at new Player (player.js:6) at setup (sketch.js:69) at _setup (p5.js:63237) at _runIfPreloadsAreDone (p5.js:63175) at p5._decrementPreload (p5.js:63184) at Image.img.onload (p5.js:79666)

Game looks really nice. I looked at the code. It's very impressive that you chose to use p5 for it.

Some sounds would add a lot, as other parts are well done and complete.

Great job. Cheers!

emil0227 2020-05-04 09:46

Very impressive! I like the design of protecting others in the game !!!

I like the start of the game. The tiles are a bit too big, which makes everything seem so empty. I didn't manage to beat the night and it got very repetitive. I wish it had more exploration and such and the action parts would be shorter in between. Graphics were nice. Good job :)
