A well done game! Congrats guys :)

starvingindie 2019-10-07 18:42

I enjoyed the wave based combat and that after each wave you go to choose what your upgrade was. I feel like that keeps the gameplay fresh. I think a little music would go along way in upping the mood. The graphics are really spot on. Great work!

danferb 2019-10-07 18:58

@los & @starvingindie Thanks for the feedback, :D! Yeah, we didn't have someone who works with sounds / music this time so we did what we could with some simple sound effects made with bfxr. It would really improve the feeling with some added music on top, right? We overscoped a little, as always in this kind of jams, there's like 2 types of enemies that didn't get through the implementation pass and some mechanics that one of the devs (myself, xD) broke at the last minute and it was a bit too late to fix them. We are nevertheless proud of what we managed to get out, <3! Once again, thanks for your time and hope you enjoy the rest of the games!! :D

Interesting Game. Good Job.

pietptr 2019-10-07 19:06

Large variety of different spells, well done.

allan-urique 2019-10-07 19:07

Good job, I just got instantly damaged once when the round started. But overall good game :D

danielhamngren 2019-10-07 19:19

This was a fun game! It was easy to want to play another round after a defeat. "I wonder what I will get next time" I got to stage 6 after a number of tries.

When I really enjoyed the mechanics of the boomerang.

theseusinabottle 2019-10-07 19:19

Really good my only complaint is that I wish there was some way to know where the enemies where gonna spawn for the next round because I ended up standing right on top of them and getting damaged at the start of the round. Outside of that a really nice game with really nice graphics (Seriously whoever gave the Slime sunglasses needs to be given a high five for his top shelf enemy design).

danferb 2019-10-07 19:25

@theseusinabottle & @allan-urique Yeah, the whole spawning process of slimes is a bit rough, just a WIP thing. First time spawns (e.g: starting a round) should be easily fixable. Spawning from killing a medium or large slime it's a bit trickier, personally I would love to make them spawn from the splatter left after killing them (so they should fly a short distance) but my coding experience says I'm not able to do that (yet, xD). Thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it!

@danielhamngren, @pietptr, @toxiccomputer Thanks for your comments too! As for spells, there's a total of 9, some offensive, some defensive. As for rounds, there's a total of 10 rounds, the last one being against King Slime (with some special mechanics for his slimy majesty). Hope someone gets to beat it! :dove:

Liked the game! It is a little difficult without some way of getting more health. maybe an occasional health drop? I really like the different abilities and that you can only have a set amount! It makes it fun to have to decide which power up to choose.

A fun little combat arena. Having the different spells was a good way to keep me trying a couple more times just cause I was curious what powers there were.

A few times monsters spawned directly on top of me instantly doing damage, which felt a little unfair. And I would have liked to have seen a clear indication whether I had enough mana for a spell. From what I could tell they weren't greyed out or anything when mana was too low.

There were some art assets scaled differently from another. Some x2, some x3. From the look of the spell frames at the top, some even x3.5 or something like it? The player character also suffers from that. That's one of my major pet peeves that I always seem to run into.

But all in all, an enjoyable entry!

sharbelfs 2019-10-08 14:48

nice game, monsters are quite nice, I liked the killing effect, the only thing I missed was some way of recharging life/mana after each wave.

Nice game, I liked the general gameplay idea, the fluid movement and the spell variety!

However, I think it suffers from having weak spells / a low mana regen: you should feel more powerful after getting a new spell, but all of them (except maybe the fireball) feel a bit underwhelming, having lower damage than your primary weapon or having high resource costs (mana, cooldown), forcing you to keep relying on the Spirit Fist...

Yeah, I liked the map spells theme. And I second the difficulty without health bars. I have worse than average reflexes but I didn't make it past level 2.

danferb 2019-10-09 18:18

Sorry guys, been having a couple of rough days at uni, I'll promise I'll get you all an answer in a couple of days + some updates on the game with some features added in, :D! Have a great one!

arzi 2019-10-10 10:37

Nice work! The gameplay worked well and I liked how the spells mapped to the keyboard. The size of the canvas was a bit too large for my laptop though.

hajden 2019-10-12 18:34

Really good, a lot of fun combinations with all the various abilities. Wish I knew which spells were castable with the amount of mana I have in a moment

dimesto52 2019-10-18 16:50

this game is rather hard but very fun
