Man.. this is a tough game. Its an interesting twist on tetris. Trying to first identify the optimal place for a piece in the position its dropped..Weighing the damage of two dead lines at the bottom or two self made dead lines at the stop. It felt good having my brain exercised. This woulda went so well under one of the discarded themes.

A fun little tetris clone, unfortunately I do not see the theme that much, but hey. I know how hard it is to actually recreate the tetris feeling, and I feel like you did a pretty solid job on that. You could have added some mechanic that would have made more sense with the topic, like you lose life every time you drop a block, but you gain life whenever you complete a tetris or something like it.

Really cool twist on Tetris as you are fighting the existing urge to rotate the blocks all the time. You have to approach it totally differently. I don't think it quite fits the theme as the rotate function isn't really your life in Tetris but 5/5 for innovation.

I saw this on twitch.tv/z_doctor stream and had to give it a go, lots of fun. I'm wondering how the pieces are deployed though - is it totally random what comes next, or do different pieces have different likelihoods? I think it would benefit from a bag system, like many Tetris games use, just to give the player some kind of strategy they can use.

Well implemented and good for tetris lovers and hard challenges. Thumbs up!

@youpeoples @luis-j-benitez Thanks for the kind words!

@andidebob Thanks! Regarding the theme the idea was: the height of your playfield represent your life, the higher it is, the less life you have. In order to be able to rotate tetrominoes, you need to spend some life, ie. lose one line of your playfield, so basically you use your playfield remaining free space (your life) as a currency in order to buy the option of rotating new tetrominoes. Does it make more sense?

@kodiqi Thank you! Indeed, as mentioned above, we don't see the rotation itself as life, but as what you trade your life for, the new line at the bottom being the actual representation of the loss of life. Regarding the spawning, it is indeed completely random, both for the choice of the tetromino and its initial orientation. We thought about having something more controlled, like different probabilities/round robin approach when spawning new pieces but didn't have time to look into the matter deeper. It's an interesting suggestion though, so we'll keep it in mind if we ever make a new version at some point. :)

Man it's a awesome game!! Give a new face to tetris!! Great Job !

Clever twist on tetris! Definitely forced me to throw a lot of my tetris experience out the window and learn how to play a familiar game in a new way. Art was top notch also. Theme is a stretch, but either way, great stuff. And thanks for tuning into the stream!

Nice twist to the game, makes you think before placing and I think the music fit really well also, good one ^^

At first I found it to be a neat little twist on Tetris, but after a couple of times I realized how deep it actually is. Honestly this is the best Tetris version I have played. You really have to think about every single block, if you rotate the block it has to be for a very good reason. I really enjoyed the thought process that I needed to have in order to get a higher and higher score. My best score that I got is this:

Would be interesting to see what the rest of you (including the developers) managed to reach, I love score attack games!

@castrolol @carlsonandpeeters @kylazaur Thank you for the kind comments!

@simon-rahnasto Wow, I'm very happy you enjoy our little entry that much, I have to say it's very rewarding. The other person behind Lifetris got 206 as highscore, I personally haven't done any yet, I was too busy trying to implement/debug the game itself. ;)

Also, we're planning to fix some of the bugs and add a couple of features to the game on its itch.io page, *post* LD judgment period. So if you encounter bugs or have any enhancement in mind (like keeping highscores), feel free to post them here. :)

C'est certainement difficile! La musique est entraƮnante, et l'art est bien fait. Bon travail!

@ransom Merci bien!
