Expected the game to be in close-up like the intro scene. Still fun to play though. For some reason my spell selection kept changing at random. Try to rate some games if you want some extra exposure.

@lex-randea Hi! Thanks for the feedback. Did you by any chance use mouse scrolling? Haven't noticed anything like random spell selection change till now.

I guess you haven't watched the embedded youtube video till the end? There you see some seconds of the level. But yeah we decided against a close up game play, because that wouldn't fit very well with the spell system. Atleast i think, that it wouldn't fit that well

Yeah, we haven't had time to play & rate other games yet. Will do that tomorow, when i have time again :)

It looks really good! But, jumping and combat is a bit clunky. It is hard to do that though in 72 hours.

team-on 2019-04-30 23:45

Graphics really good, but I cant get how to cast spells. Sometimes they cost multiply(especially teleport), but usually it doesnt cast at all

nerzal 2019-04-30 23:58

@skalex thanks for the comment. Can you explain what you mean by jumping is "clunky"? :)

@team-on You have to click on the ground to cast spells. Spells should have a max range. The first three spells can be casted while moving. But you have to stand still for the fourth spell. And you should stand still for the soul leach spell, but there's a bug, so you can cast it while moving xD

jk-studio 2019-05-01 11:53

 nice game... but it was a bit unclear to me that you need to click on the spot were you want to cast the spell

b33thr33 2019-05-01 15:03

Very cool visuals, kinda clanky gameplay, love the intro sequence!

maxkyckling 2019-05-01 15:09

Good idea for a game! Controls felt a bit off, and I had no idea what any of the spells did. When scrolling to switch spells it just felt like it chose at random. Had no idea what was going on.

nerzal 2019-05-01 15:16

@maxkyckling did you read the Spell explanation beforehand? :D Next time we'll add explanations in game. There was just no time left. But thanks for the feedback!

nerzal 2019-05-01 15:17

@b33thr33 thanks for the feedback :)

neowedge 2019-05-01 15:46

Very ambicious game for a jam! Graphics are great, but maybe controls could be improved. The result is very nice. Good job!

maxkyckling 2019-05-01 15:56

@nerzal yes I did i still have no clue what they do or which one is which one

enjoy-the-tale 2019-05-01 16:33

That intro it's very funny! Nice writting and sense of humor!

nerzal 2019-05-01 16:38

@maxkyckling From top to bottom: SkullExplosion - casts a little explosion. Can be casted while moving Poison - casts a poison. Can be casted while moving Teleport - teleports you to cursor position (idk the name) - Need to stand still while casting, does a lot of damage LeachSouls - Leaches the souls out of enemy bodies to heal yourself

historymaker118 2019-05-01 16:56

This was great! Really simple concept executed well - exactly what a good jam game should be. I loved everything about this game and I really can't think of anything I would say negative about it except that it was perhaps a bit on the easy side and could do with some more challenging levels, but this is certainly something you should consider developing future. Excellent, excellent game.

I can't rate games at this time, because I couldn't participate, however, here's my feedback:

1. I enjoyed the art. I think it's fairly pretty. The characters look like they are suffering from substantial aliasing, whereas the environment is much more elegant. There are a few bugs with the environment art as well, for instance, platforms that extend too far, or lights that disappear into the wall. I really liked the shader on the health bubble, however, it did make it hard to read when you were using health.

2. For some reason, the game performed really poorly for me. I played the Win installed version, and frame rate was low and the game felt pretty slow to respond to commands. Especially jumping at the right time was difficult. I had to jump well in advance to get where I wanted.

3. There is a problem with the UX when casting spells incorrectly. They play the sound, but nothing happens. This made it difficult for me to understand if I was doing things right or not.

4. I initially used the purple spell a lot because it was pretty clear what it was doing. I then changed to the green spell that comes from the ground up, and found it to be much more effective at dealing damage. From that point on I considered the game "solved". I only used that.

5. Sound effects have a few bugs (like loops that don't actually loop), but that's minor. The crowing SFX is repetitive, but I think this was part of your intent to deliver humour.

6. The game's writing was attempting too hard to be funny, in my opinion. It's more a question of tone than it is one of joke. In essence, there weren't many funny jokes in the game, just many "dudes" and "mans". I didn't find it particularly funny myself.

Conclusion: I appreciate the polish in the art in particular, but, unfortunately, between the performance being choppy, the controls, and what I perceive to be try-hard-humour, the game fell a little flat for me.

@mike-inprinciple thanks for your honest feedback!

wolf-flare 2019-05-02 17:23

Why the fuck is the zip downloading when I click HTML5?

nerzal 2019-05-02 18:58

@wolf-flare try again now

wolf-flare 2019-05-02 19:35

@nerzal ok

pcoridan 2019-05-05 02:07

Definitely some bugs to work out on this one that made it difficult to play. I still don't know what half the spells were doing or if I only had to click or click and hold. I think the art looks pretty awesome, especially the main character. Sound was great for the game I think it matched it well. Humor works on some levels, going to be an age thing for sure. I got a chuckle. Wouldn't mind seeing some tweaks and fixes and I would give this another go. Keep it up!

nerzal 2019-05-05 10:06

@pcoridan thanks for your feedback! Yeah the game has some bugs, but fixing them would be to much i guess, as they are not game breaking. We'll definetly add explanations to spells/skills in the next games :D

Interesting entry with a lot of neat ideas! :) I love the art style and the little intro cutscene at the beginning. The humor in this is very amusing as well, happy y'all went silly with it!

The gameplay itself was rather confusing to me, though. I had a hard time understanding what spell did what at the beginning, because there wasn't much feedback as to what each one did. Once I was able to figure out (most) of them though, I felt as though the combat was a little sluggish, and preferred to just jump over enemies and outrun them, which is not ideal.

I never could understand what the bottom spell slot did. It LOOKED like some kind of healing spell, but it didn't really do much when I cast it...

Regardless, I like the ambition behind this entry. If y'all plan to polish it up in the future, I'd very much look forward to seeing what you're able to churn out. :)
