Can not install the game but your description was fun :)
@mathis-bressaud What does "avec" mean?
@derwenzl What was the problem? Do you have a newish version of Windows?
This is such a great game! I always loved minecraft, but there is no blood in that game...
Movement is brutally slow for me, maybe I'm doing something wrong? Cute premise and the retro graphics are neat (crossed with the hand-illustrated stuff makes it kind of creepy though!). Let me know when the vegetable farming gets implemented. :smile:
@rumor I had someone else experience that as well, not sure what is going on... on some machines it seems to move at the right speed, and others not. To be honest, I have no idea what could be causing this. I am multiplying all movements by the time measured using std::chrono in miliseconds between frames converted into seconds ( system clock specifically ) maybe this only works on certain machines for some reason, not sure why it would though...
@rumor I tried changing it to a different method of time measurement, would you mind downloading the "Bugs Fixed Edition" to see if the problem persists?
Of course! That works *much* better, thanks. I got a lot clearer look at it. Still like the retro graphics. That decaying body effect was sick! It's actually pretty fun, and I even managed to win and take down that rascal Elon. In terms of gameplay it's a little too easy to just spam attack and rack up kills, and the enemies don't fight back enough to make it very challenging. If you could up their attack rate that would probably help. And add a bit of instruction so I know how many kills/points/etc I need to move to the next phase. But yeah, it works a lot better now. Pretty cool!
@rumor Thanks for the feedback, and glad the fix worked! It's always hard to get the difficulty right... in the past I've had a few games that took 30+ min to complete if you were fast, and I was told those were too long ( note that one was on the old site so it would be hard to find for anyone reading this ). Ever since then I've tried to make them go a bit shorter, but I do agree that this was a bit too easy. I'm currently working on revising and porting my engine to C++ and I am going to re-do / update a lot of my LD games when that's ready ( I've really never updated them with anything but bug fixes, but I think it would be good experience to implement the feedback and come back to some of them after a long time ). Probably won't get back to this one anytime soon and I will probably continue work on other stuff after doing a few, then come back later so there is a decent chance that you won't remember asking to be notified when the vegetable farming gets implemented when that actually does happen!
Nice story. It would be nice to be reminded that there is a goal in the game (6000 blood), so those who skipped the instructions would know, or even display it so we know our current progress. I also think 6000 blood was a bit too much of a requirement but that's just me.
The instructions should also be toggle-able by a visible/clickable button since I forgot that there was a shortcut to re-enable it and had to restart the game to re-read the instructions. These are just some improvements I feel could be made to the game to make it so much better! :)
I liked the death animations. It's wonderful to see the enemies bleed when they get hit so you know you hit them, and it was a nice touch to have the bodies decay and leave a patch on the ground. I think they could be made smaller though, as their death sprites seem to have grown larger in proportion to when they were alive. I understand it is a perspective you drew to make them look like they are lying flat on the ground but it made it look like they grew when they died XD.
One improvement you can do is to have the enemy weapons be of a different colour since they are the same sprite projectile as the player's grey sword and easily mixed.
I read that you ran out of time, but I hope this doesn't discourage you from making more games! Keep it up!
Fairly easy, quick action, and easy to understand controls.
I loved the concept, so funny! The movement speed is too low tho, or the map too big :)
Decent little game. Has nice gameplay, though its kind of easy. I didn't get any additional weapons, though I'm not sure if that's on my part or because only the throwing knives were able to be implemented. Some basic sounds or animations(even sprite flipping so you know which way the character is facing) I feel would've added a lot to the overall feel and mood.
Cool concept and sense of humor, but needs more combat feedback and faster pacing. Other than that, good job!
I won! :) Nice little game.
