Eat doggo, eat!
Great little game. I loved the use of music. I liked the premise. My two biggest problems would be camera control was a bit tough and the game was a bit short. All in all, great game.
Wasn't really clear on how to transfer the food from box to cage, then it just kind of rained down on doggo! Loved the exponential growth. Went from "Wow this room is huge" to breaking out.
@wrimo Haha yes! I hoped the help menu in the top right would be enough to stop people being confused, but it seems that was just the bare minimum. Early on in a game, which is the entirety of an LD game, you really need to hold the player's hand, and it's hard to know how far to go with it.
About it being short: I think that's because Feedrun has something in common with my previous and first submission, Rainy Day. I wasn't sure on the end game until the last day. The difference here is that I had thought of this ending initially, but then tried to go for something else.
Did you experience any performance issues? What are your computer specs?
Thanks! :lemon:
It was fun feeding that little doggo, the music was nice, everything was cool. only 1 problem though, sometimes it glitches and I have to make a new game or restart the application, it's sad seeing the doggo so small again, but other than that it is a great game!
@wfmg I didn't have any performance issues. I have a fifth generation i7, a GTX 980, and 8 GB of RAM>
I had an issue on Linux where the mouse cursor would disappear after I switched to the doggo control view and back. Cool premise though, and I like the music. Not really my preferred graphical style, it would have been really nice to see the dog animated.
@agwblack I believe you encountered functioning gameplay. There are three modes in the game. Frying, where your cursor is not visible, and you can move the frying pan. Selecting, where you can pan your camera within a range horizontally, as well as selecting different food types to cook. Feeding, where you control the doggo and hop around.
When you press V, you toggle through them, so starting at selecting as I've programmed it to do, it would go to doggo mode, and then to pan mode. You would need to press V again to get back to selection mode. I'm not saying this was the best solution; it was just how I ended up programming it.
Nice entry and I dig the concept! I think that unfortunately it lacked on execution of the game design. What I mean by that is that the controls and user experience (the UI for example) is a not as polished as I would like. It also seems to be a little buggy at time (I got stuck in doggo mode and couldn't break out from it). I think with some practice in game design and more a robust bulld this idea could have been really interesting. Keep up the work!
@mambojambo The idea is that once the time is up, you can only be in dog mode until you collect all the food you've cooked. Sometimes, this doesn't work perfectly, and the game doesn't end, but for how many scripts this all required, I'm happy with the results.
Great game! Love the music and the graphics this is just a little bit short! Nice Job!
@fammy Thanks! I agree. To be fair, I wasn't really sure of what should happen for at least the first day of the jam. I appreciate your feedback! I'm glad people like it! :)
Definitely an interesting take on the theme. I like the idea, the controls were a little weird for me. I liked the music. Maybe a little more interaction with the dog while you're cooking would be fun.
The music is neat but a little repetitive for me  It would have been great to find another solution to explain the controls than a big **?** menu, but for a jam game that's not a big issue. At first I thought the game was broken because the first screen I saw has half a button displayed in the upper left corner. Awesome game. I was pleasantly suprised with the overall mood of the game. Hope you develop a post jam version for this!
nice concept
Loved the music! It was a fun game, and I would love to see a fleshed out version of this!
I give this game one incredibly large doggo out of 1000 kcal ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLytdAQ0Ig4
