Nice game, enjoyed it very much. Keep it up!

I think I cannot fairly vote anything gameplay related, as you need two players to properly give it a go. The units look very nice!

This is a nice piece of work. As a fan of both chess and go, this feels like a nice mix of both. The graphics are simple, but that's all they really need to be. Again audio is basic, but that is acceptable for this style of game. The biggest downside is that you really need another player to play this with, but the rule set is open enough for a lot of fun matches between friends.

As a chess fan I found this very interesting. The graphics are really nice. Would love to see AI implementation.

Interesting concept but needs more work. Would like to be able to destroy units and capture them. For example if you capture all the tiles around a tower it should be captured. This way the units can change hands to give a sense of capturing the board.

Hey everyone thanks for the comments. I plan to develop the game outside of Ludum Dare a bit further, implementing AI and stuff. The capturing mechanic is an interesting idea, I'll take a look into that when developing the new version.

It's like a modern turn based game but chess at the same time. I am curious how it would play if there's MP or AI. Graphic and sounds are nice and simple. Good work!

Need graphics update :)

Territorial chess. Some AI and this would be great. Playing local multiplayer is alright though, however it does take a while for any real action to take place. Maybe a smaller board or more than two players could make the game more intense.

I really enjoyed this game. I got someone to play it local with me and we had a pretty good time, although we didn't finish the game because my opponent walked away  This game is perfect for people who love chess and want to try a new game mode. The rules are easy to get used to and the pace is faster than chess. I can easily see this being a game played online with friends in a turn-based style where you log on and make your move for the day, playing over a long period of time. The sprites are cute and work well. I feel like you should have opted out of audio for the jam ratings though! Had a lot of fun, awesome work.

@red-iron I agree. I'm already taking steps towards that.

@jajo I noticed that too. I'm playing with the idea of having different board types and sizes, maybe even some not chess-like boards.

@jern If played like that it might also be a good game for mobile, where you just get a push notification when it's your turn. I didn't opt-ed out of Audio, because as far as I know you aren't really punished for getting a bad score in Ludum Dare. So (because I didn't know how far others would get with their audio) I decided to stay in that category. I did opt out of Humor because it clearly isn't that type of game.

Thanks everyone for playing and giving feedback.

Hey this was pretty neat! I like the idea of having all those chess pieces out there, but with a totally different style of board and game. I thought the upgrading was pretty interesting, and really made you think about how you used space on the board. Nice work!

Nice concept, I didn't understand it very well at first, but after some trial and error found what to do. I'd like it better if there was an option for smaller boards, and maybe change the initial spawn positions or add something to make the first encounters happen faster in the game. Overall, good job!
