I like all rhythm game, and yours was also enjoyable! The fastest speed is definitely fun!

I had a lot of fun with this one! I played for 11 waves and 107100 points before I stopped. I wish the beat of music lined up more with the timing of the key presses; my foot was tapping to the music and throwing off my timing on the keyboard, ha ha

Yeah, I know but I couldn't do that in 72 hours. Thank you guys for playing with it. It already worth making this "game".

Cool idea that could be a good game if developed further with some polish. For some reason I don't think the notes really hit the beat in this game and therefore it was not as rewarding as it could have been. Another problem was that hitting the notes did not have a direct impact in the game world - which made the two genres feel a bit disconnected.

But overall, pretty good for a marathon game!

The music was v cute! I think overall this is a rhythm game first that is mostly wrapped in the _context_ of a tower defence that mostly works to represent to the player how well they're doing. But I think it works well nonetheless and is still an interesting and novel way to visualize a rhythm game. Some of the hit detection felt wonky and unforgiving at times but I might just be bad at it.

Good job!

Does the music and those notes have something to do with each other, or are the notes fully random?

habeeb-mohammed 2018-04-23 15:31

Really fun! I would like to choose where to place towers down. I agree with @Nash that it didn't feel like the notes had any effect on the game itself.

positive7 2018-04-23 15:35

@jani-nykanen The notes are random. @nash It does have a slight impact when upgrade point reached +1 ball is added to all active tower the default value is 3 and it can be increased to 10, so the towers don't have to reload that often. Which is pretty handy at levle 10+. I'm not sure why my feed didn't get updated with the description.

EDIT: Updated description (Sorry for my English, I hope is not much mistake in it and it makes sense)

Oh , onother rhythm tower defense I see :p this one is very good but graphics doesnt rally fit in this kind of game. But after all I enjoy it :)

jaime-paz-lopes 2018-04-23 21:47

i liked your game, but it started too slow. you should add a level selection so people could go straight to the good part.

evil-as-shit 2018-04-24 18:34

Great game! But the notes didnt match with the music which made it a little more difficult : D We also did a rhythm tower defense! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/orcs-must-jam

@evil-as-shit Thanks for reminding me to your game. It was on twitch today morning (GMT) and I wanted to play this

dartictheunic 2018-04-24 22:26

Agree with jaime, would like to be able to go on a more advanced level at the beginning, to skip the first 4-5 waves which are too slow for me but otherwise pretty good ! Well done

thelucky 2018-04-24 23:47

It very enjoyable, but i think there should be more feedback for button presses, for example, if the corresponding buttons are pressed, the ui should pop, or glow. Also more feedback for right button presses, not just having the bullet.

seaham 2018-04-24 23:54

Nice work! I had a bit of trouble with the note hit detection but I think my computer might just be slow.

I’m not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.

Sadly, I found this difficult to play. The layout of the keys didn't feel natural and the background behind the arrows blended too much in, so it was hard to see which keys I needed to press. And the key presses were not tied to the beat of the music, so it made it hard to get the timing right. I would recommend fewer arrows so that players could watch the battles and not have to focus solely on timing. I would also recommend using the DDR key layout if you use the arrow keys because it is the de facto standard which many people will know.
