Congratulations on completing your first LD  The game worked (which is already very good for a first-timer) and the gameplay was good. I feel that being able to aim the gun with the mouse would be a good addition to the game mechanics. Maybe make the level a bit brighter too since some of the aliens were hard to see (unless, of course, that was on purpose . Anyways, great job!

One thing this game needs is clarity. It's hard to tell exactly what's going on. The bullets are hard to see, can't tell who's taking damage, and not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do.

Overall it's still a good game. The concept itself isn't too innovative but you did it well enough that it's still pretty fun. I would recommend adding brighter colors to objects that matter so they stand out from the background, add more sound effects and particles to show what's going on, and an explanation of the game inside the game. Great job on getting this done in 3 days!

congrats for your first jam! Just one thing: I think you built it just for 64 bits. It would be nice to build it for 32 as well.

Overall, good game!

A 32-bit version has now been added to the itch.io game page. Thank you all for the feedback so far! It has definitely helped us with post-jam discussions.

Nice, interesting game. It was fun and it worked. a few suggestions would be making the enemies pop out of the background more by making them brighter and an indication of if you hit an enemy.

Congrats on a your first Ludum Dare!

Some tips: You need more player feedback for health, and like, what enemy Graphics could use more contrast, the enemies were hard to find. Perhaps pick a color palette (or looking at screenshots of games and seeing what colours they use) could help

This is a decent game, with easy to understand mechanics. I liked the art style especially on the aliens.

It was hard to tell which objects the player could stand on, as I thought they were just part of the background. I also think an indication as to when the player or aliens took damage would have helped with knowing whether I was doing something right. The first few seconds of the game were manageable, but when it got up to around 1700 on the timer, it got much harder. I like this and it fits the theme well, but I think the aliens were too big, and it was just luck if you managed to make it that far and not have a massive alien spawn on to you directly. I did finish it once, by spamming the left mouse button and hoping for the best.

Good entry!

Good job on your first entry! Awesome! We think that for shooting, a keyboard key would have been more optimal.

Congrats on completing your first LD. My only issue with this seems to be the confusing visuals, independently i like the look of everything but most of the enemies blend in too much with the background, so its hard to tell where they are or if i even hit them, since the bullets blend in as well.

remco 2017-12-18 10:55

I like the little bit at the beginning, when there is a crash-sound and the force-field goes down  The art is decent anyway, despite the darkness. Other than that I agree with most other commenters; why have shooting by mouse at all when you can't aim that way?

(Not sure I can see the connection to the theme very well?)

Keep up the good work!

Well, I did understand from be very beginning what I had to do and how to play. Apart from 'shoot with mouse - aim with keyboard' it was intuitive vor me. A bit to easy though, since shoot rate has no cap (for me) and a bit short.

toccs 2017-12-22 12:38

Congrats on your first Ludum Dare.

The shooting rate 100% needs a cap other than that well done!
