Graphic are pretty good and the UI is impressive. The game feels clunky but otherwise it seems to play pretty well. The enemy's seem to spawn really quickly though

benburgh 2017-12-05 01:36

I find it very unclear what's going on, between the ships shooting at you and the asteroids and the guy over the radio.

seththefirst 2017-12-05 16:52

I was not sure what I was supposed to do.... Anyways... I've liked the graphics, and sounds.

savepoint 2017-12-06 06:23

Great soundtrack lol incredible graphics! Of course running this on my macbook I have trouble with "right click" controls but congratulations on knocking this out in such a short amount of time!

masadow 2017-12-06 13:27

Graphics really good, gameplay has good potential too.

However, there are few things that should be polished to get a high quality game (and you're not so far from that imo) :

- Game should pause when you're in buying menu - When I grab an asteroid, I should be able to mine it - There should be feedbacks about whether I'm mining or not. I mean, it was not clear to me that mining an enemy would just kill him and not give me any resources. - I don't really see what's bad in dying, it's even better sometimes so you get quicker to your base

Besides those few points, game's already good so good job guys !

sebastian-m 2017-12-06 13:31

You need to make the game more clear. Like what it's tool 1 and 2, and how are you supposed to use it. I lost every time :(. The graphics are awesome though and the idea was good.

Also, the way is setup I feel like everything is moving except me, you could fix this with some movement in the background.

Anyway, great job!!

royoyo 2017-12-06 13:33

Everybody, Thank you for feedback!!!

Masadow, Thanks, these are good points.

'Not pausing' was intentional, but I guess it didn't work out...

As of other ones: just lack of time ^_^

kciwsolb 2017-12-06 13:44

I like the feel of the game. Maybe it was just me, but WASD moving you on the global axis instead of local to what direction you were facing was a bit confusing. Overall neat entry! :)

royoyo 2017-12-06 13:46

Kciwsolb, Thanks! I've created local movement at first, but then found them confusing :)

ehnne 2017-12-06 13:48

Very good game! Would've been great if we could see the enemies' HPs and could repair ourselves (but since we just respawn all the time, it's not a big deal anyway).

arturasd 2017-12-06 16:25

The concept looks very cool. I also really liked the art.It really gave me the feel that I am in space! However, at the start its not enough time for the player to understand what is his objective and what he can do. But nonetheless amazing creation!

criggles 2017-12-06 19:11

Great graphics and music! As mentioned before, pausing in the buy menu would be nice. Fun game overall!

donvermo 2017-12-06 19:19

Not sure if this is just me but the itch.io version loads but the 'game' screen remains black. I just see a radar and the cutscene UI but that's it. How do I play?

cyberpunks 2017-12-06 21:20

Nice game. It took me a while to figure out what I nee to do, but after than it was nice :)

As an improvement, try to make the movement of the spaceship more obvious, as in which direction is going.

Cheers. (Morco - CyberPunks team)

Thank you for feedback, everyone! :)

donvermo, What is your browser? I've tested it and all seems ok to me.

mynameismow 2017-12-07 09:13

Great graphics and concept :)

Never really understood what I was doing though...

matthias-schedel 2017-12-07 09:28

Great game, but I find it hard to figure out the mechanics of destroying other ships - do you have any tips?

knexer 2017-12-07 09:32

Enjoyable game! A few points of confusion: - it wasn't clear that the mining tool could be used to attack the enemy ships - I assumed I'd get an upgrade for that instead, and that did sort of happen with the turrets. - it took me a while to realize that I could switch tools with 1 and 2 - I enjoyed grabbing and launching the asteroids. It wasn't very clear what was happening when the asteroid struck something, though - does it do damage to enemies? Does it do damage to the station or turrets? Does it give resources to the station? Is there a difference between the two types of asteroids?

These kinds of problems are inevitable when making a game in a weekend, of course, but it does seem like your best avenue for improvement right now is in usability. Great job!

royoyo 2017-12-07 09:58

Everybody, Thank you for feedback!

Matthias Schedel, yes. It's very unclear, but you can attack enemies with you Drill('1') or place turrets, other thing - you can grab enemy and throw them at the station(station destroys everything that hits it)

knexer, Great points! - I should provide some visual feedback to attacks. - Also, I should make some sort of soft tutorial for tools switching and grab mechanics. - At first, asteroids damage everithing based on their speed. But before release I turned this off because it was making game a lot more chaotic(even now it's pretty chaotic). - Station is designed to destroy asteroids on collision and gather all the resources. - There are 3 types of asteroids, based on their 'richness'. The bigger it in size and the more bluish thing it has, the more resources it provides.

Thanks again, Feedback helped me realize what I need to improve the most.

gnihad 2017-12-07 10:58

Well though-out concept and nicely polished for a jam game. The controls have a good feel, the graphics are nice, the sounds aren't annoying. Impressive.

The fact that the station menu doesn't pause the game adds to the time pressure, there's hardly time to read.

I got to the end screen kind of suddenly though, not sure what happened there. I had 4 stations and then it just ended?

djeycreations 2017-12-07 16:54

I didn't understand the final objective but a nice one! Cool graphics and funny mechanics. Just the controls disturbed me a bit. The W must make the ship accelerate instead of jsut going up. Good job anyway =)

sosonyamuchhon 2017-12-07 20:00

Great demo, but may be a bit easy?

donvermo 2017-12-08 17:42

@royoyo I tried it in safari. Just tried again but same effect, the 3D models do not seem to show.

royoyo 2017-12-09 09:08

@donvermo, Thanks, I'll try it.

fangzhangmnm 2017-12-09 09:14

Really solid game mechanics. Good programming skills and artwork. However, it seems it's your first time for the game jam, something of your game seems unexperienced: - I was thrown into a crowd of enemy spaceships and there is no time for me to get familiar with the game controls and mechanics. - When I was happy building my empire, it tolds me that the game ends and thanks for playing. Lack of game goal. I didn't know the win condition

You've got the gift, I believe you will be a great game developer as you gain experience.

Expecting a post-jam version

royoyo 2017-12-09 09:39

@donvermo, There might be 2 things: 1. Check if WebGL enabled in your browser. 2. Check this build: https://simmer.io/@Royoyo/mining-empire . It may be problem with later WebGL version.

royoyo 2017-12-09 09:45

@fangzhangmnm, Thanks for feedback and kind words! I'll try to pull off something :)

ryan-temple 2017-12-15 05:46

This is my avorite game so far this LD!! Very nice job!

2018-01-08 14:16

Neat game! Wish I was better at defending myself. I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qheLSmToOo
