So ... and WHY is this light grey on white? Seriously, why is this light grey on white.

I THE ENTRY

- I had a birthday in the middle of this and it involved beer, thus jam - This is very silly. - It basically just was the 'Obvious' game to be made. So I made it. - I am making gameply now. GFX mostly done. SFX/Muzak: OMG BECKY LOOK AT HER BUTT

- I don't know if these are to be blog entries or not. I submit actual game SOON.

So, here it is, and I'll write up the postmortem part 1 (how to play / what is missing) in a bit.

Right now, I had better get the GAME file online. source is up. It's wildly ... yeah more on that in postmortem 2.

- this edit box is STILL light grey on white. WHY?

Could you list the controls somewhere?

Also you probably want to remove the `s` from `https` in the game link (errors).

Aha! That would explain it, I forgot to get the certificate! And yes, the game controls are... yes. letÅ› do that. Wanted to put them in game, but, will cover in postmortem.

Nice art, and idea, and good effort using PICO-8.

The ui is quite esoteric and could use some explaining. All round, the game needed more visual/audio cues - I had no idea what I was doing for the most part. Perhaps starting the player off with just one worm/hamster would have made the initial interactions more intuitive.

Can see what you were going for though. Better luck next time!

I love the idea, and good job on the graphics! I couldn't QUITE figure out how to play though, maybe you could give a more detailed introduction, I'd be happy to come back and try again. So when I go to the merchant screen and buy something, nothing seems to happen. I don't know whether I successfully bought some critter food or not. Likewise, trying to drop food on the critter didn't seem to do anything... What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the feedback, especially on the graphics - sadly some of the graphics you cannot see due to running out of time (the ferrets, for example, are rotating 90 degrees in the wrong direction, which I thought was ... well _I_ liked the joke.)

Starting off with money and needing to buy an animal - that is a good suggestion, that would definately reduce the learning curve. Of course, that would MAINLY be due to having that code in the game and working!

I will be definately adding a 'sound' cue in the next game for such things as dropping food on the critters - that would help. Essentially you do get a visual cue when it works, but it was a very last-minute-rush "ok just take 20 pixels from the center of where it is that's good enough I only have an hour" so it really is very hit and miss. When you do succeed, the 'food' in front of pov dissappears.

Unfortunately, buying critters only subtracts the money - it doesn't actually trigger an upgrade, as you should have also been able to carry a critter, not just food.

I'll detail this more in the post-mortem. And I'll ... I think I'll release a final after this coming weekend (the Assembly demoparty in Finland.)

Again, very much appreciate the feedback. Glad you liked some part of the game, means I did the right thing releasing it 'as is' and not 'hiding it until finished' (:

The graphics look nice, if a bit busy. I'm having trouble differentiating between things that aren't in the game and things that I just don't understand. As such I don't feel able to give any useful feedback.

It was a bit hard to determine what to do. The art is simple but I liked it.

If this game worked better, I'd have so much fun with it. It's fun at core, and it's PICO-8 too. :) If you polish this, I'm certainly gonna play again.

I WANT TO UPGRADE MY CRITTER PLEASE D':

Ok, I seem to need to get this darn thing back up, and... finish it.

Sadly the server is offline, because we moved it physically. Luckily, source! So I put it online soon.
