Well done boys! We are proud of you!
Hm, Interesting mechanic for the robots to randomly stumble and die when they are near a rock, seems like it needs more work though, the gameplay wasn't very predictable (or intuitive, if you failed to read and completely process the instructions). The robots are indeed really really stupid.
Music is nice, The graphics individually look good, but they clash a bit together. Overall nice work and congrats on building a game :)
I played this on stream at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/163569305 - timestamp 00:20:17
First of all... are those really the ages of the developers of the game? The game artist really has 10 years old? If it is so, wow... maybe I don't have to tell my boyfriend because he is an artist and he will suffer knowing a 10 years old boy can make such a great art xD
Ok, now talking about the game, the art is really nice, I like how the robots and the main character looks. But it was a little hard at first to know how to beat the robots, because I threw the rock and they don't fall with it... so I had to run in circles around the rock and in a random moment, they died. You can't predict if they will die when they pass over it or if they approach for some angle.
I also missed a "victory" or "next level" screen, because it looks a little abrupt when you start the next level, and there was that big badass robot that I surrounded with rocks and he just passed over them and over me xD But it is a nice concept, with a really good art and good music and sound FX. I hope you can fix those things that I mentioned because it is a nice game.
Really good work, team :)
Excellent game guys! I had a lot of fun playing this game, the concept of setting traps so the robots would fall is very innovative. I would love to play a bigger version of this game, with more enemies and more kinds of traps, and a nice final boss fight! Congratulations and keep making games!
I wasn't expecting such a simple way of defeating the robots, but it made the game quite fun (and funny at the same time). Simple to play, hard to master.
While the source of the in-game graphics is obvious to anyone who've followed Unity tutorials, I quite liked that you didn't use the assets "as-is", and tweaked them to be more theme-appropriate. You could have used pre-made buttons as well, but you made your own, and I liked that you made them look like batteries.
I also like how the difficulty ramps up. The game would definitely benefit for Stage transitions, though.
Overall it's quite a solid entry, and it's amazing that it was made by such a young group of people. I was making stuff at that age, sure, but with way simpler tools. Something like Unity, Fruity Loops or Photoshop would've been like rocket science to me.
Congratulations, hope to see more games for you all in a future!
It is funny to imagine a badass cyborg robot hunter fighting killer droids by laying down rocks in front of them so that they lose more energy having to travel on rough terrain. Even describing that takes much more time than the simpler alternative: Pick up rock, throw it at robot, robot breaks down. The combat is not very interesting, is what I'm saying.
The graphics are derivatives (not sure about the robot, care to elaborate?) of Unity tutorial graphics, which is technically fine in the jam. The problem is they are not very good derivatives. The environment tiles are straight up ripoffs, while the main character simply has an added robotic eye patch. You did disable the ratings for graphics though, so ah, why am I complaining about it again?
It works, just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You should have gone with something even simpler. The tried and true formula: Man has gun, man shoots robots, robot uprising foiled; is yet to fail any dev, honest guv.
The robots and the dude look rather cool. (Edit: so apparently they were reworked sprites from somewhere)
There are a few spelling mistakes in the intro.
I gotta say the falling over rocks mechanic never really works reliably for me, sometimes they just trip for no reason.. (but the intro said they were dumb robots so that part is kinda neat)
The textures are a bit muddy, and the big robot is just scaled. You could maaybe make an enemy sprite really large next time, and downscale it for the smaller enemies.
The music is an odd mixture of edm and a choir, it doesn't really work out.
yeh ! it's very fun game graphism are good. Nice work !
Nice Game, pretty good work.
Awesome for that time. Nice Job
It could have been more interesting if the assets were not copied sharply from the unity tutorial:

The game concept is really nice, I enjoyed it a lot. The idea of placing rocks in front of the robots was intriguing. From the description, I initially thought that it would be like a tower defense game where I put rock to make robots move in a longer path that will drain their power. However, the actual idea was more fun and I had a lot of fun.
The main character seemed familiar, then I realized he was from a unity tutorial. I like how you edited his face, just a simple touch made him feel robotic and blend well with the game concept. However, the enemy robot sprite didn't mix well with the other assets since it was high res compared to the pixel art style used by the other assets.
Overall, good game and good job :D
Nice job!
Well done on original game idea and music
I wish there were "Exit" button on the main menu
