I've been trying... Couldn't work out how to do it. If you can spread any light on that it would be a great help.
Okay I found out how to do it now :). I was passing the wrong arguments to pkg-config.
Fun game, I like the mechanics of it.
It's kind of hard to tell that that 1px black line on the side of the screen is a hole.
And it's a bit frustrating that the ball can't orbit a green dot into the hole, but has to bounce into it, this sort of thing should be explained or something.
Love the Linux support, with 2 binaries even. Wow. :D
This is cool - I think you're on to something with this mechanic.
I like the concept and the mechanic is really cool, but being on a laptop I have no middle click and so find it hard to complete a level if I mis-click.
Interesting concept that could be taken much further. Needs more gameplay description in-game. There is very little control of what you can do with few dots so levels are very repetitive and trial-erorrish. But, hey, you finished it!
I can easily see this being expanded to include more complex challenges, maybe the exit point on different areas of the screen, maybe even a mobile exit point. I could finish plenty of levels by repeatedly clicking and 'drawing lines' of green dots, not sure if that was intent.
Rudy, I realise it's very repetitive and lacking, I mismanaged time and got my priorities wrong more or less throughout, so by Midday Sunday, my only goal was finishing and having a few levels.
Andrew, I might expand it a bit, the limitedness of what you see is a result of me not thinking through my priorities well at the start. I am aware that some levels can be done using lines of green dots (I think one level requires it), but by the time i realised you could do this I had forgotten how many green dots I had given people on some levels, so that aspect is easy to abuse.
"I'm new to this so my only goal was to have SOMETHING that could technically be called a game by the end."
And with that goal in mind, I think you've succeeded! This is really innovative and fun. I made it to the level on your screenshot and found it pretty impossible, though.
Like others have said, nice mechanic and simple enjoyable gameplay.
As for a few criticisms, the fast movement made me feel like I didn't have a lot of fine control on what was going to happen, so a lot of the time I was just clicking and seeing what resulted. Also, as the top half of the window is rarely used, you might want to explore using a narrower resolution. I liked that it was entirely mouse controlled, but I did find myself trying to click near the edge and accidentally clicking out of the window a few times. Might be better to have a bit more of a border between the gamespace and edge of the window.
