is it possible to provide an exe that can be run without an installer? installers suck for this compo.

A nice attempt, but in need of a lot of tweaking before it shows its full potential. Would be nice to see some sounds and maybe some explosions, and the beam would be nicer if it moved faster and gave you more control over bouncing the bullets.

Still, good try, and a very appetising journal! :P

@ sfernald - The installer helps with all the XNA prerequisites and so is the easiest. It's also a minimal install. But, I'll see what I can do.

@alistar - Thanks. I completely agree with your assessment. Unfortunately, I lost too much time dealing with some physic engine issues.

The installer does not seem to run under Wine.

I'll give it a try sometime after I've rebooted into Windows.

I concur with sfernald, I do not like games that require installation for a compo.

Welcome to LudumDare, I hope you enter again!

I can win the game with almost perfect health by just keeping z button down.

mrphil 2010-08-24 17:17

Okay guys, I put up a zip that should let you play without the installer.

@JDruid - yep, it's a feature! :D

There wasn't much to this one, so not much to say about it. Very easy to beat and not much variety.

The installer didn't both me, but perhaps you should call your game something other than 'LD18'. :)

Great food photos though. :)

Could it be possible to provide a zip for those who have the frameworks and such installed?

stqn 2010-08-26 18:00

I liked your food photos and motivational posters! :)

Looks like the start of something good. I like the weighty feel of the of beam. If you spent as much time on your game as you did on preparing awesome food, you'd have a AAA title. ;)

Heh, a neat game, although I expected the deflector beam to act a bit more like a deflector beam rather than a baseball bat. :-P
It also seemed like the end bit didn't really act like a proper arc, but a two-edged polygonal thing?
