| Oct 20 19:25:03 | Fliptober: Retro Edition | ♥ 1 | The classic game of memory with a cute "twist"! I like the introduction where I see the unflipped tiles once flipped. Tbh sometimes it didn't see when it was my turn and what was interactable and what was not. But overall a cute little cozy game with great visuals! | |
| Oct 20 19:57:01 | 31m 58s | Rust and Grit | ♥ 1 | I love the idea of this game! Micromanaging a heavy device that moves on its own and franticly clicking through the menus! But I kinda agree, rotating these wheels really takes a lot of effort and makes movement a bit too restricted for my taste. :( |
| Oct 20 20:10:11 | 13m 10s | Subvivor | ♥ 3 | The atmosphere and setting is amazing! Submarine golfing never felt more immersive! But tbg I could not finish the game. The O2 mechanic felt too unforgiving. I think I know why its there - so the player does not have unlimited tries at "rolling the push". But for me it was a bit too strict. It felt like choosing the wrong path spells doom because I could not recover from swimming into dead ends. Maybe lean more into the golf direction? Where the player has to beat a "par" score? |
| Oct 20 20:21:04 | 10m 53s | The Tester | ♥ 0 | The music and visuals are awesome!! It felt really trippy stepping out of that first room and seeing the "outside"! I love the physics glove the most! Pure hl2 vibes! |
| Oct 20 20:46:14 | 25m 10s | C.O.O.T. 2: Even COOTer | ♥ 3 | Woah, Libgdx! Now that's an engine i haven't seen in a long time! My duuuuuudes! What have I had the pleasure of experiencing?? Perfection! Art, atmosphere and music on spot!! Wowowow! Sadly I could not play this without cheats. So thanks for including them hahaha. But I made it to the end to yet another lovely song (that I won't spoil!!)! Regarding the gameplay: I am not a fighting game / brawler pro. Obviously. But the enemies all seemed kinder samey and in the end a bit health bar spongy. It took quite some time to take them down and with only two attacks maybe a bit more variety in attacks and enemies would have added more interesting encounters? The controls felt a bit clunky to me. Why use shift and enter to throw (which did not work for me or I always failed at it) seemed a bit out of place. Why not Q and E right at WASD? Maybe also add aerial attacks? But overall a lovely entry that I will save in a browser tab to play with my gf later. The highest of honors :) [E] forgot to write: But one more improvement idea: When the enemies approached from the background it was hard to distinguish when they were on the right "plane"? Maybe give them a white flash or mute their colors while they are non-interactable? |
| Oct 21 12:05:36 | 15h 19m | Idle Akademia | ♥ 1 | A cute auto clicker game! I love the sfx for the gnomes! Also, did you implement dynamic music? It felt like the music changes along with my inventions. Cool stuff! |
| Oct 21 15:32:28 | 3h 26m | fishGrinder | ♥ 0 | A really cool and fun game! It oozes style and atmosphere! I like that it has a tutorial! I liked how the interactions are on opposite sides of the boat! Really adds to the tension and atomosphere! And thanks for letting us pick up fish that we have already passed. _(sorry to plug, it seems we kinda had a similiar approach to the player character. in our game with ps1 graphics you also control someone operating machines from a stationary perspective looking around and by pressing them)_ |
| Oct 21 20:19:59 | 4h 47m | Black Box of Light | ♥ 1 | The game always tells me that i burn the film or its black or i did something wrong. :( I really want to enjoy this game but it seems there is something lost on me to make this game click for me. :( Even the hints did not help very much tbh. I asked myself how to do a thing, all these hints tell me what things are. Yea thanks, but how do i operate an aperture or exposure? Why does the "shoot" button not take a picture? Why does it open the shutter, but the shutter lever also does that? Sorry for rambling, I guess I am just mad at myself not the game. Well, beyond me not fulfilling the very first order - i like what i am seeing here. great animation and responsive controls! Feels great! Great art and cool animations! I love how the arms stick to devices! |
| Oct 23 09:45:41 | 37h 25m | B-K1ND | ♥ 2 | A cute little plattformer! Maybe its me, but there was quite a lag in the controls. This made jumps a bit imprecice. But overall a great experience! I really love the flashy effect of the golden tape. Really makes my dopamine go! |
| Oct 23 09:49:51 | 4m 10s | Illegal VHS Dubber | ♥ 0 | A fun little experience! Like you said, more a graphics concept. But for what I saw, I really liked it! Smashing the device felt good and had great "feedback". |
| Oct 23 10:12:10 | 22m 19s | Rewind Rush | ♥ 2 | Holy Polish! You can put this game on steam as is and noone would know it was done for a jam! Huge congrats to the team! So much variety in the weapons, art, levels, enemies. And so many polish features, like hit stun, attack indicators, etc etc! A shop, achievements, difficulty levels, and what not! Even a whole credits sequence! Woah! |
| Oct 23 16:17:44 | 6h 05m | Grassland | ♥ 0 | A cute and fun game! I did it! At first I was a bit lost, but then I learned the rules about the glasses and then pieces fell into place! Fun game and fun ideas! Some thoughts: - Try keeping pixel sizes consistent. I saw you had some "mixels" and some people get wound up on them. I kinda am one of those people, haha. - Sometimes I did not know what could be interacted with and what not. Maybe add outlines or other hints for the player? I liked the layers of glasses! Really cool idea to hide some mirrors. But I saw through them haha. Literally. I had only red glasses but could still rotate "invisible" mirrors to solve some lamps fore aquiring the blue glasses. ;) |
| Oct 23 16:23:16 | 5m 32s | Switchboard Operator | ♥ 0 | The style is really cool! And woah does it take a lot of focus to play. At first I was like "haha just connect the dots" but the true difficulty came after the first round of calls. Disconnecting dots! I didn't think it would be so hard, haha. Keeping in mind what calls are still active and what can be safely disloged is a task in itself!! One thing I'd have to nag is the font, tbh. Sometimes I had to double check if the characters are correct. Took a lot of mental effort and maybe a more eye friendly font would help here? |
| Oct 23 16:30:23 | 7m 07s | Floppy Disk Orienteering | ♥ 0 | Reminds me of the old Slender games from way back when! Takes a bit to load but when it does, it's perfectly playable. |
| Oct 23 16:42:14 | 11m 51s | The Last Rewinder | ♥ 1 | What a cool and atmospheric game! Love it! The movement reminded me of Inscryption. Was this an inspiration? Also I love how the game is like "you cannot leave". What a metaphor for being literally stuck at work hahahaha. One little critique I have are the movie titles themselves. It kinda requires real world knowledge of where to look. With movies like "Die Hardware" I could infer that it's an action flick because I understood the reference. Maybe add a "non-cinephile" option that helps me find the movie on the shelves? I missed a lot of orders because I spent a lot of time searching. :( Also it's a bit punishing to drop the order when trying to submit a non-rewinded tape. On day 2 someone ordered a tape from Day1 and I was like "ok gonna grab it from the return shelf and send it away" but I guess that customer refused the order outright because it was not rewinded. Meanie. :( |
| Oct 23 16:47:01 | 4m 47s | ten-pin memory | ♥ 0 | It's the Hii simulator in a game in a memory! Love the idea! Great voice acting and what a cool concept! I got to the ending and now I wanna go back to the Hii days! I love how the ending is an endless loop that you cannot go back from and where you are literally stuck at work! Great stuff! |
| Oct 23 16:49:36 | 2m 35s | Ancient Brick | ♥ 1 | Did you actually go out and take pictures for the jam?? Nooo way! |
| Oct 27 22:00:11 | 101h 10m | Air Defense Bunker | ♥ 0 | A cool game! A bit like Papers Please? I like the idea of having to call HQ to check for errors. But it kinda also makes it a dominant strategy. I found myself always calling HQ but this eats into my time (and score). And it feels like I HAVE to call HQ otherwise I risk loosing to RNG. So maybe the call could be a bit more involved, attached to a ressource or some other skill expression? Just food for thoughts, I feel like the mechanic could be explored a bit more. Lastly, I got a bit confused regarding the altitude. So the controls only mention LMB and the interaction was abstracted to a classic "button". Naturally I assumed I can exclusively click on it as the only form of interaction. Took a bit of experimentation to find out RMB is also a valid input. Maybe some kind of dial or a pair arrow buttons could help here? Looking forward to your next game! This one was fun nontheless! Keep up the great work! |
