Oct 5 01:12:20 the Bar ♥ 3 Hello, congrats to your game! :) It looks good and the sound effects create a nice mood. Some things to improve, in my opinion: - For me, the game window is very small. First thing I tried was to maximize it or to zoom in, but neither option is available. - I think the connection to the theme is a bit weak. The tutorial says "Be careful, it's an unstable environment" which made me expect that something might blow up any moment. After playing the game, I would imagine that refers to the randomly switching scenes, but then I see no reason to be careful because there is no punishment for not uncovering items in time. - The controls could be more intuitive. I tried to move items by clicking and pulling them to the side, until I found out that you're supposed to just click and hold. I also don't think that it is necessary to use the right mouse button to move around, I think the left mouse button or just moving the cursor to the edges would work equally well. - The first round is fun, but after that, you know where everything is and I don't see any replay value. Maybe you could have multiple places for each item and each round, they are randomly hidden in one of them? Or maybe add a timer to see how fast you can find every item? - I don't know exactly which sound effects you use; and if they are all made by you or licensed under CC0, ignore the following. But if you are sourcing from freesound.org, I'd imagine that at least one of them might be CC-BY or similar. If that is the case, "from Freesound" is technically not enough, you have to credit each author individually. See [here](https://creativecommons.org/use-remix/attribution/) for the official suggestion on how to give credit properly. I for one really like the sound effects you used, but I can't easily find out who made them and where I can download them. Greetings from Germany! :)
Oct 5 20:08:01 18h 55m A Hard Pill to Swallow ♥ 1 The bubbling acid looks great! I like how the difficulty progresses and new elements are introduced, it encouraged me to try again and get better. Managed to get through with 46 :)
Oct 5 22:48:17 2h 40m In Search Of Water ♥ 1 Incredible that you created this in three days. My only wish would be a longer version :)
Oct 5 23:01:43 13m 26s Space-Fix-Attack ♥ 1 Very nice mood! I agree with @hiisileiri that it looks more like the deep sea than deep space, which is by no means a negative though. The repair system is very interesting as well. What I would like to see is some sort of score to see if I get better over time.
Oct 5 23:31:34 29m 51s Fickle Frontiers ♥ 0 Congrats to your game! I found the gun, the knife, some money, killed two guys and rode the horse :) Regarding you MacOS port: I heard (but haven't tried myself) that Godot can export to WebAssembly - that would avoid all the problems with builds for different platforms. Some things I noticed: - The music could use an upgrade - a proper loop would be good, and I think the shot at the end really makes it noticeable that the track is quite short and quickly repeats. - I didn't see it mentioned anywhere that you can switch your weapon by scrolling - I unlocked two endings, but when I got the second one, the first one was locked again. Greetings! :)
Oct 6 02:05:20 2h 33m Above the Void ♥ 1 Great game, it fits the theme perfectly and I really enjoyed it! The levels are well designed, but the last four were quite hard and I had to think them through for a while. Also: Maybe a puzzle game like this could be a good idea for a mobile game? Apart from praise, these are my thoughts while playing: - I really want to put the window in fullscreen mode! - I thought the start button was broken because I couldn't click on it. I almost gave up before trying random keys and hitting space. - For a lot of the time I just stood still, looked at the level and planned my path. After playing for a while, I didn't want to just try out different routes, because even if you know exactly how do a part of a level, actually walking through it takes some time. I think it would be a good idea to accelerate the movement, but **especially** the grappling hook, so it doesn't take quite as long to redo parts. - I also think I found a bug: In the "four corners" level, I grappled onto a wall with no tile directly in front of it. By panically smashing W and S, I managed to get from the void to a neighboring tile and not die. - I'm unsure what the intended solution for the prison level is, but I just want to let you know that I didn't need to collect both keys. Instead I collected only the upper one and then used the jumping stick to get across the second lock. - I think saving progress so you can quit the game and continue later and also redo individual levels would probably be the most urgent improvement. Also, after quitting the game, the remixes weren't available anymore, which is a bummer :/
Oct 10 02:15:46 96h 10m Farmers' Market ♥ 2 I agree with @papabirb, background music would be nice. I did see the buy price drop to 0$ though, and that really was a nice feeling :D
Oct 10 22:46:01 20h 30m The Unstable Ball ♥ 0 Good thing you can switch to fullscreen, the window was a bit small 😉 I would have expected the ball to be a little bit more... unstable. But other than that, nice mini game, I like the graphics and the music!
Oct 11 12:30:37 13h 44m Unstable Tables : Tales Of A Super Hero Waiter ♥ 1 Impressive game for three days of work! It's a good thing the hotness bar resets after each level and cools down with time! ^^ I like the music and the sound effects are pleasant. The kitchen items also look nice. No major criticisms come to mind, just that some other games are more innovative and have stronger connections to the theme.
Oct 11 16:47:48 4h 17m Boomsheep ♥ 2 Great game! It's easy at the beginning, but on day seven there are just so many sheep and they all explode :D
Oct 11 17:46:44 58m 56s Kessler Controll ♥ 2 Great game idea, fits the theme, good music and sounds, fun to play. It is very unintuitive to exert thrust in the inertial frame of reference, rather than in the satellites coordinate system where prograde/retrograde and radial thrust would always be on the same keys - but I think that adds a very interesting element and learning curve to the game. I also had to learn to intentionally sacrifice satellites. Very interesting! I got to 130358 points, here are some things I noticed: - The game got quite laggy after a while - Regarding the fuel bars: It was not obvious to me which color meant "fuel" and which color meant "no fuel". I also needed a few minutes just to figure out that the bar shrinks symmetrically from both sides, which added extra confusion. - I activated caps lock without noticing and spend a couple minutes wondering why WASD didn't work anymore. But I didn't loose, because... - It turned out to be a bit hard to loose. After some while I wanted to intentionally deorbited my satellites to end the game. But some didn't have enough fuel or were out of fuel and they just did not collide with anything, albeit there was a lot of debris in orbit. Also, new satellites spawned so often that I couldn't easily get the total number to zero.
Oct 11 22:50:57 5h 04m Unstable patient ♥ 1 Cool game, I wrote mine using SFML, too! :) Here is my score: 2021-10-10-050836_screenshot.png ## Things I Like - Your settings menu with the volume bar is really nice, I'll have a look at your source code :) I wanted something exactly like this, but didn't have time to do so. - The music is simple, but fitting. - I really like the icons! - It's nice that your game saves progress - I played some other games whose levels took way longer to complete and after exiting, every progress just vanished. - The concept of going back to previous levels to score better is really interesting. ## Things to Improve - Your readme on GitHub says that you want the game to be Open Source; as of now it's not yet, you have to [add an Open Source License](https://choosealicense.com/) :) Without it, I am technically not allowed to reuse your fancy volume bar in my game :) - More levels! :D ## Compiling So first of, I compiled the game on Linux without any problems. The command in the description doesn't quite work though, I needed two additional wildcards: ```bash g++ -c src/*.cpp -g -I include && g++ *.o -o bin/main.exe -lsfml-graphics -lsfml-window -lsfml-system -lsfml-audio ``` Regarding the "works only on my computer" part: You include a main.exe file in your repository - I thought that was a Windows executable. But after having a closer look at it, I realized that it is a Linux ELF executable, not a Windows EXE executable. Just in case you don't realize this: this will never run on Windows. Now, you are still allowed to upload new versions of the game to fix bugs, for example if the application only runs on your computer. It's not too late, get yourself those 20 ratings! :) If you want a Windows build, you can copy the build instructions from [my GitHub repo](https://github.com/Jeinzi/ld49) - just look at the Readme and `make.bat`. Basically, you just have to download SFML, adjust the include directory in `CMakeLists.txt` and copy to DLLs next to your executable. For me, this game jam is the first time I have to build a program that runs on other computers, so I had to learn a few things as well. I compiled my game in a Windows 10 VM, but other people didn't have the VC++ runtime and SFML DLLs installed and just could not start the game. After including the DLLs in my ZIP file, there seemed to be no problems anymore. If you trust me... it wasn't difficult to adapt my workflow and compile a version of your game that should run on almost all Windows machines :) If you want, you can [download it here](https://storage.jeinzi.me/ld49-3ac61985c8/unstable-patient.zip), test it and add it to your description :) If you have any questions regarding the Windows building process or something else, let me know! Greetings!
Oct 16 20:55:06 118h 04m Enhanced ♥ 1 The Linux version runs fine for me, thank you for providing it :)
Oct 19 23:13:08 74h 18m Radioactive Horse Escape! ♥ 0 Beautiful graphics and music! A small improvement would be to allow for WASD control instead of the arrow keys :)
Oct 20 00:02:59 49m 51s Ludens Fortuna ♥ 1 Very cool, slightly addictive game! I suggest you publish it on mobile and make bank :P My highscore is 15571 at Arcana Level 18 :)
Oct 20 00:22:12 19m 13s A Druid's Day ♥ 2 Very relaxing game :) I agree with @fusionnist, aiming is a bit difficult. But I ran it without lag or other bugs through Wine on Linux. One major criticism: I was sad the game suddenly ended. I really wanted to continue playing and turn all of the land green :)
Oct 20 21:49:09 21h 26m Block Balance 3D ♥ 1 My highscore is 90.55 :) I agree with the others saying that the controls are a bit odd. A short description and a screenshot would have helped as well - I didn't go to fullscreen immediately and really did not understand what was happening and that I am missing part of the GUI. A bug I noticed: the game resets, even if the timer hasn't run out yet. Anyway, theme is spot on!
Oct 20 22:09:20 20m 11s Animals Island ♥ 2 Tested the Linux version, it runs fine! Except the missing .pck file, I had to get that from the Windows download :P I find the game really difficult, it often ends after only a few seconds - it's a good match for the theme, but if development were to continue outside of the jam, it may be good to add a bit more stability - maybe slow the game down a bit or decrease the cooldown. :) Anyway, I had fun, my highscore is 90!
