Dec 7 17:01:13 Limbs are Limited! ♥ 1 Really fun game! Nice core mechanic with challenging levels built around it. It feels overall really nice to play and especially the feel when you pull the guy apart is very satisfying. I also love that you can jump around as a head :) The difficulty spike was however quite steep. Got stuck at level 4 pulling his head off by mistake. I felt the two levels after where easier, but it was maybe just me. I also feel that the canon should have an indicator of whit how much force it’s going to shoot. I also accidentally keep holding down the mouse button expecting to charge the cannon, so for me at least this would feel more natural way to charge it than the distance thing. Other than that, it was a super cool game, and I enjoyed playing it. Well done!
Dec 7 18:14:24 1h 13m The WeeZard ♥ 1 Really cool game! The art is fantastic, and the general game feel is really nice. The music is spot on and really funny as well! I agree with most others here about the mana. In the original version I ran out of mana quickly, and then ran around trying to find more without luck and eventually dying. In the new version on the other hand there were plenty of mana, and the cap was just a slight annoyance. I think having limited mana doesn’t really contribute a lot and just having it unlimited would have been better. Alternatively, it could be rarer, but you’d give the player a weaker non-mana using attack as well. This way you’d have to choose in when to use the mana. I’d also love to see more variety of enemies as the two types there are now are basically doing the same thing and it gets a bit boring after a while. Overall it’s a really solid entry! Well done! Also, the pug paintings were awesome :D
Dec 7 18:16:39 2m 15s Wildfire: Forest Containment ♥ 2 Really cool game and I ended up playing it for a while. I don’t think you could have implemented the theme better. It fits it perfectly! The game seems simple at first but there is quite a lot of depth there. It’s an easy to learn and hard to master kind of game, which is a balance that is hard to hit, so awesome job there. The way the tools in the post jam version were introduced makes it even better. I got a bit frustrated at the start because I really wanted to contain the fire quickly at the most obvious choke points, but the tractor wasn’t fast enough, and the fire spread out of my control. Eventually I made peace with the fact that some sacrifices must be made and started planning ahead more. A really cool “realization of the theme” moment. After a while I also started to get a better idea of how quickly the fire spreads and could better judge the areas that had to be isolated and when to use the right tools. In other words, the learning curve is super nice! There is also a really cool element of risk and reward with judging how close you can make the isolation zones to the fire. Some suggestions on improvement. I think it would be helpful to show the tractor on the minimap. Since the tractor targets the closest marked tree to itself, it’d be useful to know where the tractor is when its off screen to get a better idea of when the tree that you mark will be removed. It would also be nice to be able to “priority mark” a tree to make the tractor target it immediately. Right now, if you notice that there is a tree that needs to be removed quickly that isn’t next to the tractor, you’ll have to unmark all the marked trees closest to the tractor, which is a bit annoying. Some sound would of course also have been nice. Overall, it’s a super solid entry and I enjoyed it a ton. I love that you are taking the opportunity to raise awareness for an important cause at the same time. Super awesome!
Dec 16 09:51:12 207h 34m The Expendables ♥ 0 Really cool game with a really clever implementation of the theme! It’s really fun to gather your army and be surrounded by minions. Something that I noticed when playing is that I wasn’t using the abilities that much. Especially the the bomb felt a bit hard to make any significant impact with and you just ended up wasting a minion most of the time if you tried to use it. I figured that the best way to get something out of the bomb is to use it with the shield, but even then it’s was only somewhat useful if you only had a few minions. This because in order to place the bomb next to the enemies behind the shield you basically need to move all your minions close. If you have many of them they tend to run into the enemies and kill them, and then placing the bomb becomes unnecessary. You could of course try to place the bomb first and then the shield, but I found this to be too difficult to get right to bother. So for the first part of the game I ended up just running around collecting minions and running them into enemies. So basically I think at least the bomb should be buffed in some way. Maybe decrease the time before the detonation, or alternatively make it fire like a projectile that explodes on impact. The shield was still good I think and I used it more in the later stages when the shooting enemies appeared. A minor issue I also had was that I initially thought you were to collect something to get points, as I didn’t understand that it was the enemies that were scrap. Adding the score to the UI would probably help to make this clearer. It would also probably be a good thing to have some distinction between the boxes that fall from the sky. Because the minion and enemy boxes look the same, I started to associate all the boxes with minions and ran into them right away and died instantly when the enemies spawned instead. Overall really good and I enjoyed it a ton! The sound effects are funny and I really like the art style as well. Feels a little bit like don’t starve. Also, thanks you again for playing and improving my game!
Dec 18 20:04:55 58h 13m Sacrifice Knight ♥ 1 Really cool game! I had a lot of fun with it and kind of wish there was more, which is a very good sign! The progression was very good, and it felt very rewarding when you upgraded your character. Some very minor issues I had was that the music got a bit annoying after a while, but since it’s compo, just having music is a bonus. I’d also like it to be clearer what each upgrade does. For example, I just assumed the jump upgrade increased my jump height and didn’t notice until a lot later that it actually made me able to double jump. I’d also liked if there were knockback on your attacks. Overall still super good job! Well done!
