Dec 16 04:07:00 Slower Than Sound I like the idea of the game and the background artwork. I think I got glitch-stuck in the game but I made it through some levels. I not sure what Q did however, there didn't seem to be much of a difference between weapons if there was one. <br/> <br/>On a more technical note you probably want to turn off fullscreen in your unity player settings for building next time as your sprites and central line aren't placed in their correct places on fullscreen.
Dec 16 04:13:00 6m 00s Little Big Dash This is a cute little game. I like your idea of growing and shrinking but I don't think that the player has enough control over it. Growing takes a long time. Additionally I don't think that the game gives you enough lead time to decide how to proceed. Also whilst I'm glad you went with a pattern of obstacles I think your difficultly curve needs a bit of tweaking, or at least a dedicated starting pattern to get people into it. <br/> <br/>All in all though I thought it was a sweet game and congrats on your first LD!
Dec 16 04:22:00 9m 00s Growing Sakura I'm not sure that I fully took in the instructions and the concepts. However the levels a was able to beat was very fun. I like the look and the sound of the game as well. Great stuff.
Dec 16 04:28:00 6m 00s Curse of the Slime Queen I liked the concept of the game but I don't think that the gameplay is easy to pick up. There doesn't seem to be a way to escape losing. I think if there was a tutorial to clue you into some the gameplay ideas it would have helped. I liked the overall idea though.
Dec 16 04:34:00 6m 00s Buttons for Christmas The music is very Christmas-y and cheery. I'm not sure that it was working correctly though as the reindeer didn't actually hurt me.
Dec 16 04:46:00 12m 00s Complete Control I think it's very daring to try a simulation / strategic game in a game jam. I like the idea of what you had here. The graphics and the audio could be better, I didn't have much idea of what was going on from just looking at the game. I also wasn't able to conquer any other countries, even when I had double their power and income. Maybe I missed something there. <br/> <br/>Overall a brave concept needing some polish.
Dec 16 04:52:00 6m 00s Snowballin' That was really sweet. I love the graphical style and just how fun it is. Needs a bit more sound support and better performance optimization but overall very nice. <br/> <br/>My thoughts during play: <br/> <br/>"Awww yeah! Getting pretty big now. I can take down anything! ... What's that? A forest of giant trees that I'm not quite large enough to absorb but too large to avoid!? NoooooooOOOoooooooOooo!"
Dec 17 04:06:00 23h 14m Recnac This is a great concept for a game. I have to say though that whilst I appreciate you fitting in both themes, the game's platforming controls are really being let down by only using two buttons. I think that when you concentrated on puzzling level design rather than a lot of precise jumps the game was at its best because of this. In addition a little bit more visual signals to say what is dangerous and what is safe would have been helpful. <br/> <br/>Overall I really like the concept and most of the level design. I'd love to see this taken further.
Dec 17 04:15:00 9m 00s Safe or Sorry Tenuous link to the theme but I don't care! Great use of sound and graphics. Very atmospheric. Not sure whether there are different creatures later one. If not then some variety would be nice. Needs a little love on the end of game screens though.
Dec 17 04:19:00 4m 00s Super Wall Jump This game is very hard as you say. I don't feel that you have too much choice in the game, seems more like luck whether you die or not. The graphics are nice though.
Dec 17 04:28:00 9m 00s Fortress Hunt I found the jumping controls to be surprisingly enjoyable at times, although not always precise. I also like the RPG elements you included. It made me go out of my way to collect coins. Whilst the sound is there it didn't hook in with the game too well and the graphics need a little bit of variety. For instance the harder enemies that take more hits should probably look a bit different to the other enemies. Not bad overall though!
Dec 17 04:31:00 3m 00s A Firetree Tale I think the game could use a bit of instruction at the beginning, especially with regard to your life and what to avoid. I love your growing effects for both the main tree and the green areas and the concept is really interesting. The one feature I find lacking though is a way of looking back over your tree once you are defeated to see the cool effects that you created!
Dec 17 04:40:00 9m 00s Saneedling I love the sound effects! Love the music! Completely bemused by the premise! <br/> <br/>I don't really understand the game but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it! High score 2260.
Dec 17 05:04:00 24m 00s Colony XG-29 This is a great little game. I had two goes at it. First time I didn't get my supply chain set up correctly. Second time I didn't have any money coming in. Lovely little idea. Just needs a couple of extra mechanics to help along players that get themselves stuck, a little bit more to do and sound.
Dec 17 05:20:00 16m 00s Hijinks High: Orientation (Ludum Dare 34 Edition) I don't know that I made too much headway into the game but it seems well put together. The writing is good and funny at time. Not a bad little game.
Dec 18 01:57:00 20h 37m Just an Beaver Wow. I managed to get up to 2/6 trees - but only by planting them way in the corner and then standing diagonally across from them and mashing the attack button. Beavers everywhere! <br/> <br/>I like the concept. The controls really need explaining better - I didn't even know you could attack at first. The tress also need proper health bars so they don't get destroyed the moment a beaver touches them - I think that's way too hard. <br/> <br/>I liked it overall though - especially the cute jumping animations.
Dec 18 02:07:00 10m 00s Centi-Snake High score: 499716 <br/> <br/>I found that pretty fun. I appreciate sticking to the classic style but it would have been fun to have seen what you could have done by upgrading the graphics and the sounds. There was a lot of information on screen and it wasn't always easy to see what was going on. <br/> <br/>In the end I was stuck in between the outer wall and my dead body parts so I had nowhere to go but couldn't get hit. <br/> <br/>Pretty fun though.
Dec 18 02:16:00 9m 00s Button Quest Beaten in two attempts. Love this game. I think you could really make something out of this given a bit more pacing.
Dec 18 02:21:00 5m 00s Go On What a lovely calm and beautiful game. It's so rare to see people try something like this. The graphics and the music are excellent too.
Dec 18 02:25:00 4m 00s Ladder Grow Not sure I call the game over sounds easy to listen to music but that was an interesting game. I liked the smooth climbing animation. Not sure how to get pass the red door with the monster though.
Dec 18 02:31:00 6m 00s Seicho Boru I love the idea here and the style of everything. However the streets are far too small and I managed to get stuck between too buildings and couldn't move any more.
Dec 18 02:41:00 10m 00s The Complex Tarthus A nice little game. Couple of bugs though: I died on the first level and when I restarted the music was gone. I also got an Out of Memory error as well. <br/> <br/>I like the shifting of the camera - I wish there had been a bit more use of that. Also some feedback or display show what you can and can't do at any moment would be really helpful - it's hard to know if you can charge or throw a ninja star. <br/> <br/>Finally I think you should have a short pause when entering a new level to show where enemies are because it's a little unfair when you just load in and then get rushed by a whole bunch that haven't spawned just next to you. <br/> <br/>I'd like to see the concept taken a little further though.
Dec 18 02:47:00 6m 00s Cyclopi What an interesting game. I love what you've accomplished. It's a very satisfying game. I think if you added sound and a few more mechanics it would be an excellent little game.
Dec 18 02:57:00 10m 00s The Last of Egg What an interesting idea for a parody. I love the 6 years later and the beard. This made me smile so much!
Dec 21 01:53:00 70h 56m Partners in Crime A really interesting game! I was much better at the first phase than the second. The only criticism I have is that you say that the silent alarm has been tripped when we can all clearly hear it in the game :)
Dec 21 01:58:00 5m 00s GeometryTwo An interesting concept. It would have been great to have non-pixelated scaling on the main ship as it grew. As others have said, it gets pretty difficult very quickly.
Dec 21 02:07:00 9m 00s Winter Wilds Great little game, really enjoyed playing. <br/> <br/>One aesthetic bug: When you beat the game trees can poke through the end of game UI. <br/> <br/>Feature request: I feel as if I should be able to kill hunters. I managed to completely sneak up on one and was sitting on top of him for a little while before I realised I couldn't hurt him.
Dec 21 02:14:00 7m 00s Nukaland: corruption I like the idea of this game, but it does have a few problems. Like others have said the AI is too unforgiving. They move too quickly and outspeed your normal speed. <br/> <br/>I say normal speed as you seem to be handling diagonal movement by summing the vertical and horizontal input together. You need to normalize the resulting vector and then apply your speed to that. Otherwise you end up with what is present in the game: double the resulting movement speed in the diagonal directions than in the vertical or horizontal directions. This faster speed is the only way to avoid the enemies though.
Dec 21 02:19:00 5m 00s push your button then punch An interesting idea but needs some polish. I liked the idea of becoming so large that you are able to squash your opponent. However it wasn't clear what was going on some of the time. In addition the mazes generated sometimes completely blocked off the goals from one or more players which unfortunately should never happen. I think you need to build more robustness into this so that it is fair for both players each round.
Dec 21 02:29:00 10m 00s Grow In VR I couldn't wait to try this game. Unfortunately after installing it on my Android tablet it wasn't working. All I could see when playing was a black screen so it didn't seem to be interfacing with my tablet's camera correctly.
Dec 21 02:37:00 8m 00s Wesh Grow I enjoyed the game a lot. The music made me really have some fun with it and get into the silly mood. I got to a level however where you need to slip through a crack between the pink and normal tiles and then pick up a power up. Once you get that power up you then can't get back because you are too large which is frustrating. Also whilst your movement speed / force increases as you add parts, and you are adding mass, you never seem to fall as a realistic rate.
Dec 21 02:41:00 4m 00s Grow Pandora I think that your game's economy is kinda broken. It's very hard to make enough money to proceed. The music is great however. What program did you use to make it?
Dec 21 02:45:00 4m 00s Nybble Nybble "You done died" :) Well at least I lasted 30 seconds on my first attempt. Reading your description I was worried that it was going to be unplayable, but it really wasn't. A nice simple game with a semi-interesting idea put on it.
Dec 21 02:52:00 7m 00s Help!!! IM A CACTUS!!! So first off - that much water is going to kill any cactus out there ( 0/10 realism :) ). <br/> <br/>The concept for this game isn't very new and the execution doesn't really come off as polished. The audio is pretty grating and the graphics, whilst clean, are fairly basic. I also had trouble using the exchange button, no mater how many coins I had it never seemed to work. <br/> <br/>It is a complete game though and not everyone gets that far though!
Dec 21 03:02:00 10m 00s In the beginning For a while I couldn't figure out how to get trees on the planet but eventually I stumbled across them whilst free playing. One thing to fix is to stop movement of the buttons when clicking on next in the tutorial. In fact clicking and dragging probably would have been nicer than click to select and then to move. Graphics too could have had a little polish as it was difficult to tell the buttons apart, especially when selected. A couple of icons would have gone a long way. <br/> <br/>I do love the style though when you get everything right, the atmosphere joining with the trees and the water looking really pretty. I'd love to play it again once it has had more work on it.
Dec 21 03:08:00 6m 00s The other side of the portal I understand the concept here but it doesn't hold up that well. Whilst you obviously spent some time making the graphics a game life this, with so few interactive mechanics, lives or dies on its presentation and unfortunately it isn't enough to pull you into the game by itself. <br/> <br/>I think had the graphics been more polished and the game expanded you could have had more of an impact.
Dec 21 03:15:00 7m 00s Turbo Pig I love the aesthetics of this game. The dancing trees are really cute. However there are some issues with it. In a game like this it is criminal not to auto-restart on falling out of the world and the level design is pretty long in a trial and error game like this. A better design would be to pause the pig's movement at the beginning, let the user place all the objects and crayon down that they want and then allow them to start the pig rolling when they want. Then if they fail you take them back to their last plan and allow them to edit it. Without this it's really frustrating to place until a time constraint - especially when the camera moves up and down with the pig rather than staying the same vertical position. <br/> <br/>Regardless of that though I enjoyed this game. Its style is cute and I would have liked to have seen more of it.
Dec 21 03:20:00 5m 00s Imagetchu Oh my god the audio in the game is fantastic! So much giggling. What a funny little game. I liked the graphics too. Great stuff.
Dec 21 03:28:00 8m 00s Higher, Higher, AAAAHHHHH I'M ON FIRE!!! I like the idea of this game. There are a couple of problems though, the largest of which is that there is no easy to use restart button (holding up and space didn't seem to work) and there is no auto-restart if you fall of the maps which means you soft lock the game as you can't recover. I liked the animation and the graphics as a simple game though and a appreciate your enthusiasm with the audio. <br/> <br/>Not a bad first game.
Dec 21 03:37:00 9m 00s Shape Shooter I like the "2much" score level. That was pretty cute. I thought that the game was going to be disappointing looking at the screenshots but it's implemented much better than I expected! I liked the movement and the mechanics, especially switching modes to avoid damage. I didn't find it very challenging but add a few enemies types over time and more powerups and it would be quite fun to play.
Dec 21 03:54:00 17m 00s Planets An interesting game. I love that you went to the trouble of modelling a solar system. It's a shame that you can't see in some way the effect you are having on the planet though. as others have said you shouldn't be using floating point numbers in your UI. I liked you choice of music, remember to credit who the artist was.
Dec 28 16:10:00 180h 16m Growing Ties Excellent game. I love the concepts and the use of the themes. Very impressed with the graph statistics at the end.
Dec 28 16:16:00 6m 00s Lands of TSR Lore The graphics are excellent. I felt there were a few robustness issues though. For instance I could try to pick up something and then another event would go through, like an attack, and the text would scroll past what I'd like to see. For those not familiar with Legend of Grimrock etc. I'd imagine they'd have trouble with playing the game. Great achievement for a Jam though.
Dec 28 16:24:00 8m 00s NanoBit The like the idea of this game. I feel like what is letting it down the most is its level design. It's way too easy to get stuck and be unable to continue. I feel like the pools should not be finite usage items. <br/> <br/>Also it was very hard to run and jump at the same time. I feel like the input logic is incorrect there. <br/> <br/>I'd love to see what you could have done with the level design with more time.
Dec 28 16:35:00 11m 00s The Climbers Best score after three tries: 163. This is a cute little game. I think that sometimes the physics and the collisions are a little ropey though. I'm fairly certain that I should have been hit by the obstacles many times before I actually was. Overall I found the game a little hard to grasp at first, just telling the player the two button may not be enough for those that haven't played QWOP or other keyboard twister games.
Dec 28 16:40:00 5m 00s Tripper I have the same inset window glitch that others are getting. Most likely it is due to resolution. A windowed build with a set resolution would probably solve that. <br/> <br/>As pretty much everyone else has said: nice graphical style, good music, interesting effects but the gameplay suffers for them.
Dec 28 16:49:00 9m 00s Bryan I think this game was very ambitious for the time limit but you did achieve a lot. I like the graphical style although there are a couple of problems. For example the spinning of the character looks unnatural and the trees and some other objects aren't layered correctly. However the character animation and the particle effects are lovely. <br/>The controls are a little weird too, probably should be left mouse click to fire instead of right as there's nothing on the left mouse button yet. <br/>Overall great job. Maybe next time write down everything you want to do and then really make sure you can handle them all (or put a bunch of them in a "nice to have but could be cut pile).
Dec 28 17:00:00 11m 00s Fleshgrowth Got to 27 blocks on the original version and it did soft lock. The artwork for the game is great, it's clear that you spent a ton of time on it. However the game itself is kinda lacking. The controls were not obvious and needed at least a sentence of explanation. In general the game is far to easy too. I like the idea of scrolling the obstacles across the screen though.
Dec 28 17:04:00 4m 00s DoNotFeed An interesting game. Gets way too hard and at some point you have no moves left and you just lose. Would have been nice to be able to switch the sweets on the left and right hand sides around.
Dec 28 17:11:00 7m 00s ZX (3 in 1) Congrats for having three games in one submission. I like the style of each of them and I think that they are all interesting. <br/> <br/>However its pretty criminal that there is no explanation for the controls in each game. It's really difficult to understand what's going on, which means that you die a lot, which means you never get to heard the cool music in the game. <br/> <br/>The game I was best at was the green game (but best is only a relative term). I'd love to see a more user-friendly version of this game because it really is the more innovative game I've seen here.
Dec 28 17:22:00 11m 00s Ball Crusher From Neptune I cannot get past 12 no matter how hard I try! This game is great! It's so simple and so easy to play and yet so challenging! <br/>I love the music, the graphics, the movement, the little touches like having your previous highscore remain on the planet and the overall text positioning and style. <br/>I have no idea how you managed to get to 71(!) even though you are the developer!
