Apr 29 07:38:00 Flip It's an interesting game mechanic but it took me a little while to get the hang of how it worked exactly. You might want to include that it changes every tile _in the direction you're facing_. Once I understood that I got the hang of it.

Everyone is right about having to refresh. A restart would've been nice, but if you didn't have time you didn't have time.

Finally, I think the game is a little too hard. Most puzzle games like this introduce a flip number but then have "Par" so that you know how many flips you SHOULD do it in, but still have a few more to get to the next level. This is missing that element and by the time I got to the 40 puzzle I was a little frustrated knowing that if I made one mistake, I'd not make it (which is exactly what happened).

Cool game, but those are my suggestions. Thanks for playing NOPE. :)
Apr 29 07:52:00 14m 00s Tile Flip It would've been nice to have a limit. After a while it's just trial and error to make it smaller and smaller. This is also a fairly common puzzle game.
Apr 29 07:54:00 2m 00s Beneath the surface My system won't let me run the java app from a dropbox it seems. Sorry. :(
Apr 29 08:02:00 8m 00s Kamikaze Snail: They see me sliding, they hatin'! I was unable to connect to your site. :(
Apr 29 09:42:00 1h 40m Goat Guzzler This was a lot of fun. :) I dig the art style and the simplicity of it! Thanks again for playing NOPE and commenting!
Apr 29 10:08:00 26m 00s RMBR This is a really neat concept. Definitely deserves a "mood" rating. :D
Apr 29 12:18:00 2h 10m "It's all Ogre now" Dat spacebar tho. ;)
Apr 29 12:26:00 8m 00s Super Robot Miner It's a fun little game. I think that the controls could be better explained. I didn't realize that when I marked rocks in prospect mode that they could no longer be broken in dig mode. I also love the audio, but it failed a few times. I would start playing, die, restart and the audio would be lost.
Apr 29 12:38:00 12m 00s Moon Mole Massacre Hey, jcvsmc! Thanks for playing and commenting. I played Moon Mole Massacre and I had fun. I actually felt like the song was pretty catchy. :)

I found a bug (er...I mean feature!) where you can hold down the most button and just run the mouse across the screen.

I'd also recommend maybe a bash-y sound effect for when you hit them. The pop sound feels a little off.

It's still fun though! Thanks for making it and congrats!
Apr 29 12:49:00 11m 00s Dead men tell no tales Fun game. Health meters would be a solid addition to this. Not knowing what health units have left and not being able to control them kind of left me feeling detached from the action. That said, I think there's a lot of potential if you continue to work on it!

Thanks for making it!
Apr 29 12:57:00 8m 00s ... --- ... I think you did well with [S.O.S.]. It's a pretty simple game, but I'm impressed with the bubbles you added behind the sub. Maybe that's easy to do in Unity, but I feel like it's hard to do in Flash which is what I did my game in.

Glad you were able to get it done on time and make an entry even though you were late to the compo. Well done!
Apr 30 00:11:00 11h 14m COVERUP Thanks for playing my game and commenting! I like the "YOUR TURN" "THEIR TURN" moments and them sort of stomping around. I think it's fun.

The music is okay, but the frequency of all the instruments was a little sharp/harsh.

I think the game is a little hard since it's not just about finding the aliens but ALSO kind of a memory match game. I think you could go two ways with this:

I think you could keep it to a memory match game, but remove the movement aspect, but that seems boring.

My other idea is to limit the number of turns and add some color when you find out someone is definitely human.

I know I'm probably just not very good at it, but I think after a few minutes most people are just going to resort to guessing and then stop if they don't find the second alien soon enough.

Overall it was fun, though and I'm glad you made it. Especially since it's not just a subterranean game. Way to take a different angle on the theme! :D
Apr 30 09:06:00 8h 55m Air If you take the game further, I would really work on the controls as previously commented. If you're using WASD as suggested, Z is underneath you. That's an awkward gesture to accomplish.

I think the fading the screen to black is more frustrating than it is motivating at this point. The character swims very slowly so if you're trying to reach the surface for air, it's really stressful (in an unnecessary way) for the screen to also be darkening. Try having the low end be 50% darkness instead of 100. You'll get the same drowning/dying effect your going for without leaving the player blind. :)

Thanks for taking the time to create it.
Apr 30 09:39:00 33m 00s Find the Booty I was able to sort of piece together most of it before reading instructions. It's fun and I think there's a lot of potential here. Keep exploring how you can further engage players with this. Right now it does feel a little aimless, but you have your goals: keep morale up, find the path to treasure.

It doesn't take much, just flesh it out a bit more. Thanks for competing!
Apr 30 09:50:00 11m 00s Dolphin Dash I never really entered a state of rhythm with this game. I actually had a tough time getting the controls to work consistently - at times it registered me as gliding when I was on top of the water, so it wouldn't dive and I'd get hit by something. I got a little frustrated by that.

There are also just a ton of obstacles coming at you immediately.

Try tightening the controls as some have suggested and maybe adjust the frequency of the obstacles. If it's an endless runner, give players a little while to get used to JUST grabbing stars before obstacles start to come into play and then ramp it up.

I agree with the note about music/sound. Just a splashing effect would've been great here. I do think the art looks great, though and this could be a really fun game. Thanks for sharing!
Apr 30 09:58:00 8m 00s Eisenberg Overall, it's not bad. My character was constantly playing his running animation and he frequently got caught on geometry - that wasn't fun. Killing spiders was. I didn't really understand how to win from it and it needs much more polish, but it's a good start. :)

Thanks for sharing!
Apr 30 10:28:00 30m 00s Please Come Back I think you need to include that it was VERY directly inspired by another game at the TOP of your description. I feel like this game is getting a lot of votes based on it being original/innovative so that information is too important to be at the bottom of your self-described "wall of text." I'm sorry.
Apr 30 10:40:00 12m 00s No Eyes Willy I really enjoyed this. I think it's a fun take on several old classics. Nice to see you bringing something new to the genre.

I did find a big bug. You only have to turn on every other block most of the time - the collision makes it so that you don't have to do every one - Willy won't fall. I also saved Willy in level 3(?) and then just let him keep walking and he killed himself. :)

Still very fun. I'd like to play it with music and the graphics are nice! Thanks for making it.
Apr 30 11:15:00 35m 00s Drill Bill I thought this was a fun game. I think the controls for drilling down need work, but it's 72 hours. I hope you expand it further, I think this could be fun with more polish. Impressed by the number of modes and controller support option. :)

Thanks for sharing it! :D
May 1 00:38:00 13h 23m Surface Of The Skin Nice use of the theme and way to create a mood. I definitely felt the passion and personal nature behind this project.

I think the controls might need a little work as sometimes I was clicking and it didn't seem to register. The spawn points could also be less clustered so that you avoid so much overlap (which may be why my controls seemed off).

Overall I definitely think this was a very original idea and I appreciate you sharing something so personal. Thanks!
May 1 00:51:00 13m 00s Emotion Lord: Within The Heart I thought this was a really nice entry. I'm surprised it doesn't have more ratings to speak for it. I think you did a really great job of tackling the theme from an original angle. I like the gameplay and I think this would be a really fun game on its own or a cool minigame in an RPG. I don't know if I'd do the 3D aspect of it, it seems too much for what is a really minimal style of gameplay.

I also think that you might want to add some way of giving an emotion back to the person you took it from or trading emotions. I don't think it would be very hard to program and would allow you to make simple mistakes that you can fix.

For instance: I made it all the way to the gate, but I thought the orange was red. I took a red emotion and when I went back and realized my mistake, I couldn't do anything about it. That seemed a little unfair and if I'm truly a "Lord of Emotions" I should be able to at least put the emotion back where I found it, right? As it was I couldn't put down the wrong emotion or get rid of it so I would've had to restart and getting to the gate just wasn't compelling enough to make that happen.

In short: Create a stronger end goal, simplify your graphical style so that you can focus on the awesome game mechanic, and let the player put down emotions/destroy them/trade them.

Thanks for making this! :D
May 1 10:15:00 9h 24m Get Beneath The Surface This was very nicely done. I had a lot of fun playing it and I felt like you had a lot of fun making it. Great work! :D
May 2 07:13:00 20h 58m Terror from beneath I didn't feel like the game was hard. If you run far enough it forces the worm to come at you horizontally. Then you just bop it in the head before it dives and it won't hit you.

The music is great and the gameplay is nice once you get the hang of it. I think that the aiming could be better and the controls need a little work. Simply moving left and right feels very limiting. You could probably add a jump or a double tap to leap left and right.

Overall I think you did a nice job and it was fun to play. Thanks for sharing!
May 2 08:10:00 57m 00s our god lives underground I have to say. While it's not a "game" per say and more of an experience, it's still an impressive one. The use of the camera angle, lighting, black and white, static effect, and sound? This has to be the game with the best mood that I've played.

Very well done. This was a pleasure. I'm really impressed. Thanks for playing and rating mine. :D
May 2 08:21:00 11m 00s Ice Treasure So I was going to suggest that you swap the cursor FOR the flame because I felt the controls were making it difficult, but on my third attempt (after reading some of the comments) I was able to beat it with time to spare.

It's definitely easier once you keep the flame moving and once I got that down, I enjoyed that it actually feels like you're melting it a bit and moving on to somewhere else so that you can see - just like you'd have to in real life.

I think there's a lot of potential here. Nicely done and thanks again for taking the time to play/rate my game. :)
May 2 08:33:00 12m 00s AHH LAVA! I thought the sound and the movement and the art were cool. I did find that I was hitting too many dead ends, though. Even with bombs, I'd hit a dead end, just blast through it quickly enough to not die and get to another group of walls.

I also wasn't exactly sure just how much the bombs blow up. Sometimes it would get all squares around it, sometimes it wouldn't.

It's a cool idea, but I wasn't able to get to the point where it felt like a fun challenge that I wanted overcome - just a statistically stacked challenge that always felt a little too against me.

Thanks for sharing, though. :)
May 2 08:47:00 14m 00s Pawn Really innovative and I love the use of the theme. I think the restart needs to come way faster. The duel takes some figuring out, in my opinion, since the solution is uncommon to most games (I jumped on his head multiple times, not realizing the true solution).

The music is good, the art work is neat, and the mood is fantastic, but you can die really easily due to the controls and restarting takes too long. My suggestion would be to give the player more control or shorten the respawn. You could do one or the other, but both would vastly improve the experience, in my opinion.

Great job and thanks for sharing! :D
May 3 01:46:00 16h 59m Aqua I really enjoyed the music, but the unlocking sound was pretty harsh on my ears. I think the gameplay is nice, but at one point I definitely had to use the up/w double jump trick to get to where I needed to be.

If that's not a glitch, then the web version I played in Chrome is having issues with double jump - I couldn't do it with just pressing the up arrow twice.

I think the game is JUST a little long and you can probably ditch the keys stuck in the wall and the extra treasure chest - they're a little confusing/concerning since you don't know how many keys you need for which gate.

Overall, it's well made and fun. Thanks for sharing! And thanks for voting/commenting on mine!
May 3 02:02:00 16m 00s DIVE I liked this. I did think the game was too small (it was tough to see) and I'd like to be able to reverse - if that's available it wasn't working for me.

I also think you should probably add a counter and a health meter, just so that we know what our score is. I didn't even realize shooting the dark fish gave you points so much as it just kept you safe. Until I read that, I didn't understand why anyone would venture to the lower levels and not just swap between one and two.

Also you should probably let people know that you can't switch until you empty a layer. I thought that was going to be a tactic and I got killed for trying to jump down when I was in danger.

Overall a nice original game. Thanks for sharing! And thanks for playing my game and commenting. :)
May 4 05:41:00 27h 39m Infection The game works really well and was a lot of fun to play. I played it about 5-6 times. I have a few suggestions:

The dates on the tombstone don't quite make sense, unless he was born on the day you start playing - I know it's to show the amount of time you lasted, but it's still odd.

I think the cells should probably be drawn to you instead of needing to collect them. If you're going to have to stop the game to buy things, I think that allows for better flow.

Other than that, I felt the targeting was a little off and the game should probably pause as you place turrets since you can't place any before the game begins.

It's an incredibly polished game for 72 hours and I could easily see this as a regular indie bundle kind of game. The visuals are nice and the soundtrack is solid. Also the sound effects actually match the soundscape so I'm a fan of that.

Keep going, thanks for sharing, and thanks for commenting on my game! :D
May 4 06:31:00 50m 00s Cave-In Jumpin' Hey there, BasselGaming. Thanks again for playing/rating NOPE, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I think this is a great start, but as you and others have made clear it's just a start.

I agree with people that I thought I was supposed to be able to use the pick - unfortunate that you didn't have time to implement this. I understand that changing art late is a pain though.

The collision for me was a little rough - specifically between my character and the rocks. He got stuck on them instead of jumping many times, so I would try to smooth that out a bit. I was using Chrome on Windows OS to play.

Survival is a great genre and this is a fun idea for it, but as others have mentioned it should speed up or something should change. As it is currently, I think there are SO many places this game could go. You simply didn't have time to take it to any of them. :\

Finally, I think you should add more description at the top of your entry - that's totally legal and would help people know the controls. You could also do what's known as a Post-Mortem journal where you can talk more about what you WANTED the game to be. I think many of us (myself included) would find that interesting.

I wish you the best of luck with your design And congrats on your first LD! Here's to first timers! :D

Take care.
May 4 07:04:00 33m 00s Super Surface Shape Shifter The game is definitely fun, but I'm not sure how much it relates to the theme. I know you say it, but I think it's a stretch since it's pretty much just shape matching. That said, it's the jam, so it doesn't matter SO much and the game is still a lot of fun.

I liked the music, I liked the gameplay, and I enjoyed how it sped up. The art could be better, but that's sort of expected. A few of the menu options were empty, so I probably wouldn't have included them.

Those are pretty much all of my thoughts. Nicely put together, I think if you kept working on it this would be especially fun on phones so I'm glad you've already gone that far. :)
May 4 07:25:00 21m 00s Under Our Feet So I think you might have been better off giving yourself a little more time and just entering this into the jam. I played the game a few times and the biggest suggestion I have is for you to look into camera placement and larping. For a game where you're falling a lot, your camera is a little too high. You just can't tell where many of the platforms are going to be.

The other issue is the jump - jumping is really difficult to get right, but it's crucial since it's your game's singular mechanic. As it was, I couldn't get through the game though I tried 4-5 times.

I'm glad you were able to get it to a place you were happy with (that's the true test of the competition, I think), but I really wish you had given yourself extra time because I think with some more refining, this would've been really great.

Keep working at it and thank you for sharing. :)
May 4 08:43:00 1h 18m The Valley Rule This is by far the most polished and best game I've played at this point in my ratings. Wow.

That said, PLEASE (if you haven't already) add a save point to the top of that cliff jump. I managed it ONCE on keyboard and I messed up the block. I almost rage quit, but when I tried it with a controller and Joy2Key as someone wrote, it was MUCH better. My keyboard is wireless so there can be a delay - I got similarly frustrated with the web version of Meat Boy, so just know that it makes a BIG difference and a save point would really help there.

I'm also not sure I totally buy the under the surface theme for this as people have said, but it's the jam and the game is great and you are in a cave, so be it!**

Would've given you a full 5 for innovation, but I got heavy cave story/Fez vibes from this. Opening the chest to reveal a glowing shape, some of the patterns in the stones, and the character even looks like she's out of one of those. It's still utterly great, just not 100% original.

Overall: Very fun. Great Music. Great gameplay. Just an awesome entry. Thanks for sharing. :) I'm excited you guys are going to make the full thing.

** Just saw the part where you wanted to do more with it. Makes sense. :)
May 4 08:54:00 11m 00s SUNK The game is well thought out. I think the controls could be explained a little better. I though I would have to KEEP pressing up, but instead it was more about pressing it at the right time - I guess I should've read the tips first.

The splashing, the timing gameplay, and really everything. Once I got the hang of it, it made sense. Nicely done. :)
May 4 09:26:00 32m 00s Princess Fart Overall the game was pretty decent for 48 hours but I think the art could've had a lot more going for it. I also wanted a bit more variety in the gameplay. The level design wasn't bad, though.

I really didn't enjoy waiting through the repeating alien dialogue. Sorry. But I do think that slowly putting together the outfit is a good idea. :)

Thanks for sharing. And best of luck!
May 4 09:41:00 15m 00s Hi It's Julian This game reminds me a LOT of something SUDA51 might do - for a lot of reasons.

It's interesting and I like how experimental it is, but there's just not much here (and yes, I got to the end).

Congrats on finishing, though and thanks for sharing. :)
May 6 19:43:00 58h 02m Jeremy Brain: Brain Doctor I thought that this was really well done. It executes on an original idea very nicely. The humor is solid, the level design is nice. It's not the most complicated game in the world, but there are definitely many elements that I absolutely loved in the telling of it. The interactivity between player and story is really well thought out here, too.

I will say that the movement could be a little faster for how much of the territory you wind up retreading. If possible, I'd try to eliminate the retread entirely - you don't have to go back to the same room to have the father haunting him. Also, the timing on some of the audio meant that it was silent a lot for me, but then it overlapped a few times when it did come in. Overall design was good, but I did get impatient going up the stairs only to come back down so I just jumped off, "died", and returned to the front of the room where I could just walk. Again, I think I just wanted to get to it. My last critique would be to consider some other patterns if you turn this into something larger, the checkers and electricity lines were cool, but eventually everything felt too same-y - I'm assuming that's the nature of it being on a time limit, though. :)

All in all, I think this was a very well done game and I'm excited to see what you come up with next/if you make this into a full game with multiple characters.

People keep saying Stanley Parable, which I sadly haven't played yet, just by reading the description my brain went to Psychonauts and I'd say it holds pretty true to that idea.

Nice work! :D
May 7 04:12:00 8h 29m Shark Cull 2014 I had fun playing it, but it got repetitive pretty quickly. I really do want to hear the sound/music when you finally add it because I think it will add a ton to the game's feel. Without it, it was hard to feel like anything was changing.

I like the idea of the upgrades and that you have to be careful about how many people you put on your boat. Also, the menus and graphics in general worked well.

In short, I liked it, but I just think it needs more polish (which of course is hard to do in 72 hours).

Thanks for sharing and for rating/commenting on mine! :D
May 7 04:59:00 47m 00s SnakeFormer - Half Snake, Half Platformer I like the idea a lot. It's fun, but that third puzzle is really rough. I think the player might need more experience with the balls first if you make this into a full game. Just to get the hang of things.

I'm not sure I'm really feeling the theme here and I don't see an explanation. I guess the snake might be underground if there's lava, but I don't think it says that anywhere. :\

I like the music and I like the audio. The bite noises made me laugh. Level design is challenging, but not completely unfair. It's a great game and I'd love to see you continue it. :)

Thanks for sharing and thanks for rating/commenting on mine!
May 7 05:46:00 47m 00s Wormhunter I thought it was fun, but as others have noted, a little too easy and a little too short. I'm excited to see if you expand it though. I agree with everyone who says there's a lot of potential here.

I like the use of theme and I think the graphics worked out well for you. I also like the music. The sound effects need some work, they're pretty basic and both sort of hurt my ears.

Overall a fun game and a promising idea. Nicely done! :)

Thanks for sharing, and thank you for commenting/rating my game!
May 7 05:54:00 8m 00s Color Graphics Adventure I think the graphics look great and the gameplay is pretty good, I just didn't feel like I was getting anywhere. It just seems like you play until you die? You might want to add rounds or a level display to make the player feel like something is being achieved. Right now it just feels like you're in a loop.

I think the game would benefit from a background - especially to hammer home the theme of being beneath the surface. You say we're in a dungeon but we could really be anywhere.

Overall it's a good start, but I think there's a lot that could make this game better. Keep working on it, thanks for sharing, and thanks for rating/commenting on my game! :)
May 7 06:03:00 9m 00s Planet Corp. I really liked this. I thought it was really well put together and very well polished. I think the gameplay is pretty repetitive - after a level I sort of "got it" - but that's okay. I could definitely see this being a full game and the mechanics are interesting and original as far as I know.

Well done. Thanks for sharing! :D
May 7 15:39:00 9h 36m Descent Great work. I found the controls to be a little too precise (if that makes sense) there were times that I wasn't landing where I thought that I would or was maybe a pixel away. I also don't know about the wrap around world. I think I would've gone with rigid walls, personally.

The music was really happy but not annoying - which is incredible considering how short the track is and how often it loops. And the programmer art wasn't terrible! ;)

I played the game multiple times and got to about 30 as a high score before deciding I'd had enough. I think that you might want to give some instructions about the colors, but it was sort of fun figuring that out too - just a thought.

Solid design, I could definitely see you improving the art and adding some faster levels/higher difficulty/obstacles to round out the experience.

Thanks for sharing and good luck!
May 9 18:06:00 50h 27m Heaving of the Depths The graphics are nicely done. I do think that it could have more going on, but 72 hours is a short period of time. My one complaint is that when you kill things they seem to get a final shot. (As in, no health left, hit you, disappear)

If it's a bug, you should definitely fix that. If it's a choice, I'm not into it. It just comes off as unfair.

I also think this game would be so much better with audio. Even if all you had was a "shoosh" sound of the ship moving through the waves. The silence just seems awkward in such a brilliantly vibrant setting.

Thanks for making/sharing and best of luck!
May 10 23:24:00 29h 18m Dr. Pepsi Marriage Consultant Suuuper abstract, but I thought a lot of it worked. I don't know if it was out of necessity or artistic intent that you put the game in text files, but it made the game feel really disjointed and out of sync. I think I liked that. I'm curious about what else you'd come up with after this. :)

Nicely done. Thanks for sharing and thank you again for rating/playing my entry!
May 10 23:57:00 33m 00s this is kevin I think I agree with Empyrealhell a lot. The combination of really large maps, slow movement, and the tedious nature of the puzzles themselves makes the game feel very long. Add the very short sound loop and you get a game that feels like it's taking forever even though it's not. :\

I understand the desire to put in some music, but honestly I think the game would have been better off without it. It's a nice bit of piano, but the looping made it really take focus and distract from the fun of the overall game.

I think the story is interesting, but I don't have the desire to get the other ending since it sounds like it would take more work and seeing all of the sharp corners in the last level made me say "No thanks."

I think you've got a better handle on puzzle creation than I do, but I'd be interested in seeing what you could do with a smaller landscape. There was so much to the map and so little of it was used.

Overall it was still a good experience and a creative story/take on the theme, but those were the things that I felt limited what you were going for. Nicely done and thanks for sharing!
May 11 00:12:00 15m 00s Oshan: Exploring The Endless Deep Ocean Humans Left Behind Hard for me to rate this as it's largely an unfinished work. I would've liked it more if the rumble of the ship when it's moving was present when it stopped. As someone else mentioned, inertia would be nice.

It's interesting that the "treasure" is random, but I don't know if I can call this a game so much as some lovely artwork.

All the same, I appreciate the art and I hope you flesh it out later. I'd love to see what it becomes because I feel like there's high potential here.

Thanks for sharing!
May 11 00:22:00 10m 00s Orbital Burrow I really enjoyed playing this. I thought it was well put together and the art style and sound were both great. If I could make a suggestion it would be to have their be some kind of noise to let you know when each power was ready to use again.

I sort of picked up skills as I went, so I didn't realize you could bash things with the moon at first, but once I did, I enjoyed it. Overall I made it to 3:33 which I thought wasn't too bad - reading other people's scores, it seems I did quite well.

Nice game, well done. :) Thanks for sharing!
May 11 01:13:00 51m 00s An old man and space So this was great. I really enjoyed myself and I hope you guys continue to develop the game. Here are my notes:

1. I did find a bug where if I clicked too rapidly - cutting the fishing short - and then started it again and was successful, I would not get the reward and the "ta da!" sound just kept repeating.

2. Maybe other people found it different, but I'd prefer the left click be fishing and the right click be shooting. It's way harder to fish than to shoot and it should be the opposite since you use shooting so infrequently. That was probably by design, but the game is difficult enough without choosing the weaker click finger.

3. I'm not sure that I agree with this being "beneath the surface" since it's in space. I still think you did a great job and you are "fishing" so it makes some sense.

That's pretty much it. I otherwise really enjoyed the game and I think that there is a ton of potential here for a full release.

Thanks for sharing and thank you again for playing/rating my game! :D
May 11 01:32:00 19m 00s Rosa Neurosa I certainly had a fun time, however my ending was pretty dark: http://tinyurl.com/kcntwth - My fault since I went there, but I still thought it was fun. Hahaha.

I liked the game play of running from the bulbs, but what do they represent? Bad ideas? I'm not really sure I understood that. Trapping them was pretty easy, but you did a nice job of giving them AI to get free.

I think my only other complaint - and this is minor - is that because I know that I'm making up whatever I want, I'm not really inclined to keep searching once I find an object. If you took the game further, I'd make the objects collectible. That way you're looking for the one that you haven't used yet and not just taking the first thing that comes your way.

The graphics were great. Love the talking sound effect. I think you can drop the bass a little on the found object sound. It's REALLY heavy compared to everything else.

Love that you used the theme in two different ways! Nice!

Overall it was a good time and I'm excited to see what's next. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to play/rate/Twitch my game! :D
May 11 01:42:00 10m 00s Le Ver Sorry it's taken me so long to rate this. The game was interesting. I liked your take on the theme and your use of narrative, visuals, and sound to create a perfectly executed mood.

I think by its very nature existentialism is a little bit of a hard sell. You wanted to convey a feeling of loneliness and pointlessness and you did, but I don't know if I can say that was fun. Innovative, absolutely, but I don't know about fun.

I think this was a very solid entry for 72 hours and you obviously put a ton of hard work into this. Very nicely done and thanks for sharing and playing/rating my game.

Take care! :D
May 11 02:01:00 19m 00s Escave! I thought the tension here was nice and you really created a well designed game. The music was pretty good, I would've liked some sound effects.

My only other suggestion would be maybe a radar of some kind? There were so many times when I only knew I was being chased after I was hit.

In terms of balance. I think it would be better if you could actually run away from the little spinners. I was kind of sad that there was nothing I could do once they were on me. They eventually did me in with very few steps left. Wish I had beat it, though so that's a good sign.

Thanks for sharing and thank you again for rating/playing my game! :D
May 11 21:28:00 19h 27m Read Between the Tropes A really cool take on the theme and I enjoyed my playthrough. I wasn't really sure what was happening until I got to the end and I'm really glad I got to it. It's really cool to examine all of those ideas in a way that is still entertaining.

My one suggestion is to reconsider the color palette on the site itself. The black on grey was a little bit tough to read.

Well done. :) Thanks for sharing and for playing/rating my game. I'd love to see what this would be like as a visual novel with music/art - maybe a Ren'Py game?
May 13 09:16:00 35h 48m Beneath Mr. Perfect Overall I think it's a great first entry. I unfortunately got stuck at the end after the feelings stopped coming. I received a GO AHEAD message but I don't know where to go and when I reached the middle of the screen my character got stuck.

I think that the strongest moment of the game is definitely the Coin/Help moment. If you continue to pursue this and refine it, I think you should look for more dynamics/mechanics like that. It was very effective. :)

Thanks for sharing this and thank you again for playing/commenting on my entry. Take care!
May 13 09:22:00 6m 00s They Come With Fire I liked this a lot. I enjoyed the music and I liked the look of the monsters. I think it fits the theme well and it has some interesting game mechanics (took me a second to figure out the out of water/reload thing).

It's a little difficult, but I think it's more challenging than frustrating and that's a fine line to walk. Very nice work.

Best of luck and thanks for playing/rating my entry! :) I'm glad you were able to finally get through it! I do plan to put a cursor line in to make it less confusing. ;)

Take care!
May 13 09:27:00 5m 00s Finna I think it's a great idea. I liked the flower bloom aspect and the music is pretty solid as well. I think it's a really cool/different take on Snake, so well done there, too.

My only complaint would be to figure out something other than money. It's a little weird that a flower is collecting money to grow. I'm not sure why that's happening and not water or something more normal. Just a thought, but the game is a lot of fun. Well done!

Thanks for sharing and thank you again for playing and rating my game! :)
May 13 09:37:00 10m 00s Save your tribe! I think this is a great start and a really solid first entry for LD. I agree with some people that I wasn't sure what was killing me and I also had a lot of issues with the obstacles being right in the same path as the reward - literally no way for me to get them. That's a bug you'll need to work out.

Overall, I like the idea, but the execution isn't quite there in this version. If I can make one final suggestion, place the player a little bit further away (towards the top of the screen). Right now he's pretty close to the middle and by the time obstacles appear there's little that can be done to avoid them.

That's it. Just keep going! The more you do the better it'll get!

Thanks for sharing and thank you for playing/rating my entry! :)
May 15 22:36:00 60h 59m Atomicle - LostAutumn.net Nice simple graphics and gameplay. I enjoyed the music a lot. It really is a fun game that I could easily see being expanded into a full commercial work. Well done and thanks for sharing. :D

The speed increase when you bounce is a little bit too much, but I'm sure I could get used to it as I got better. Keeps me on my toes.

This is a really awesome first entry. Very polished and well designed.
May 18 01:33:00 50h 57m Below Earth I got the java error people mention, but just running it a second time made it work for some reason.

The game is fun and I like the difference between using bombs vs using TNT. I have to agree that the moles and the sharks were a little annoying as enemies, but I liked that there were a variety of enemy types.

Personally, I prefer designed levels over random levels. That's just a preference, but I think it would've led to more interesting interactions with the enemy types. Since it was random, I think it their role less interesting.

Overall I liked the game, but especially since it was a jam entry, I'm wondering why no soundtrack?

Thanks for sharing this and congrats. And thank you again for playing and commenting on my game! :)
May 18 03:11:00 1h 38m Carnival Warfare The game is pretty good, but I do have some notes.

I didn't understand that I had to go to the red tent until I checked the in-game help. I tried going to the blue tent, but no matter how much I pressed X or Z nothing happened. The walk speed was also pretty slow and you might want to add the ability to upgrade just that - buying sneakers? I don't know. Lastly, the soundtrack was oddly quiet - I'm not exactly sure why that was happening but it was.

I still played through a couple of times (in windowed and fullscreen). For 48 hours it's a fun game and I'd like to see you expand it.

Lastly thanks for telling me about your LD27 entry - it was pretty interesting when you compare it to my current entry. Very similar ideas! :D

Thanks for sharing and for playing my game and rating it. Best of luck with the last days of the voting!
May 18 03:50:00 39m 00s Wriggle Worm I'm not sure what to say that hasn't already been said, so I'll just say that I think the game was a very solid effort. It has really high replay value as everything is just simple simple simple - which as we all know is extremely hard hard hard to do.

The one thing I would suggest is changing the damage sound. You say that it should be a relaxing game but a static sound is not super relaxing. Try to find something else.

I also think that while not THAT similar, the game reminds me of flow and as such would do well with some kind of relaxing music in the background.

Final suggestion would be to start off slow and ramp up the speed as the game goes on. Currently it all moves pretty fast right off the bat.

Nicely done and thanks for sharing!
May 18 07:00:00 3h 10m Metro Lance I enjoyed this a lot. It's a little too difficult, but that's okay. I like a challenge and once I figured out the controls it wasn't so bad at all. :)

I also agree with the people who have said the game needs audio. If you had been able to use a song generator to create a cool cyber punk tune I would've been REALLY into it.

I could definitely see this being a longer game you've set things up nicely and the art style is great.

Thanks for sharing! :)
May 18 07:26:00 26m 00s My Little Secret I enjoyed the game and the way that it turns out. I didn't play more than Ending 1 though I figured out how the others would probably go. It's an interesting use of the theme and I liked most of what you did.

I'd talk about the character/text speed, but you've already addressed those in your fixed version. Overall an interesting game.

Oh and "Yum. Panties." is the worst.
May 21 00:05:00 64h 39m The Sun And Moon Very nicely done. I wanted to see what the best game was and this was indeed an amazing experience. I'll probably write it up and just to be perfectly clear I loved it. I beat it but it was very challenging without being unforgiving. Loved it. Great work.
