| Dec 16 13:12:00 | Brother | I was not able to execute your game. I am running Ubuntu 13 and do not have wine installed. I'll check back later! | |
| Dec 16 13:18:00 | 6m 00s | Master Thief | I'm on Ubuntu running the following: <br/> <br/>java version "1.6.0_27" <br/>OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.12.6) (6b27-1.12.6-1ubuntu2.1) <br/>OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode) <br/> <br/>I received this message: <br/> <br/>Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: ld28/Driver : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0 <br/> <br/>I'll check back later! |
| Dec 16 13:28:00 | 10m 00s | One shot | That was very cool! I took the cigarettes, naturally, thinking that I could use them to barter for information on the surface, maybe get myself in as a chef's assistant or something. Unfortunately, the choices often just came back to distracting the guards and shooting them. Still, a very cool experience! I got the bad ending... <br/> <br/>Renpy! |
| Dec 16 13:47:00 | 19m 00s | Inquisition | This was a nice, mostly idle quest! I like idle games, like "progress quest", "linear RPG", and more recently "Megami Quest". <br/> <br/>You did a great job with the graphics and lighting effects. I would have liked to see a travelling dot, though. The font was challenging to read! A status bar to keep track of how many locals are helping me would have been great. <br/> <br/>In the end, I rescued my daughter and the game said "great, now get to the port!" Since I had forgotten which dot was the port, and since none of them seemed to be clearly marked "port", I gave up at that point. |
| Dec 16 13:57:00 | 10m 00s | Christmas Puzzle Nightmare | Awesome! Racking my brain searching for the "linchpin" in each level was totally fun. Nice puzzle music, too. Very good use of the theme, too. |
| Dec 16 14:07:00 | 10m 00s | Static Room | Oh man, this was awesome! I think you managed to make a very cool thing here. Then again, I am notoriously obsessed with symmetry, groups, and rotations. The procedurally generated music was also very cool, and is definitely something I will put in my tool box for later. <br/> <br/>Theme use could have been better! You could have had multiple control rooms that were non-static, and then every room could have had exactly one door. Well, that's just my opinion. <br/> <br/>Anyway: very fun! |
| Dec 16 14:12:00 | 5m 00s | Deci-minute Gamer Dinner! | I like the hotline-Miami style top down look. The wall collisions were pretty huge (my game has the same problem), and the doors were very narrow. Result: hilarious. <br/> <br/>The page load time was pretty long... |
| Dec 16 14:17:00 | 5m 00s | You only get one bullet | Cool puzzler! It is extra challenging because of the bug where you can't really restart after you fail ^o^//. |
| Dec 16 14:34:00 | 17m 00s | OneShot | This is a great game. Seriously: great. My reasons for thinking this are many. There are tons of "one shot" submissions for this compo, but yours is unique (so far) in that it doesn't require accuracy or method, so much as patience. Others will tell you: patience is my favourite controller. <br/> <br/>The glitch sound-track helps, too, as does the aesthetically pleasing "orbits". I mean, humans just love watching things turn: we are hard wired to find rotational symmetry and gears-like motion around a point attractive. When it all lines up for one moment, and you get the shot! BOOM! <br/> <br/>The game mocks you when you lose, and because there is no save, this actually starts to get to me. Emotions, man, they are an excellent control. <br/> <br/>Finally: the fact that you have to start from the beginning each time (I mean, the fact that this is an "arcade style" game) is perfect. I wish so hard that there was a leader-board for me to climb. |
| Dec 16 14:45:00 | 11m 00s | YOLO, Obviously | I do not agree with the views expressed in this game. |
| Dec 16 14:48:00 | 3m 00s | Series of tubes | Something strange, a bug perhaps? I played in firefox, and would frequently die for no reason. I never "collided" with any zeros, but the game seemed to think I did. |
| Dec 16 15:22:00 | 34m 00s | 0RBITALIS | Beautiful! This is a very fun simulation. I think, though, that it doesn't do the theme great justice: any arcade game is a "one-shot" deal by default. <br/> <br/>Still, graphics gameplay and fun: and its web based! |
| Dec 16 15:33:00 | 11m 00s | UniSwarm | It took me three or four plays to really understand how this works, but it was engaging enough that I enjoyed exploring. <br/> <br/>I can pull units out of the red dot, but I shouldn't pull them all out. If I send units to nearby dots, my rate of supply increases. I want to create a big swarm, and eliminate the blue player. <br/> <br/>Elegant! I love abstract RTS games, though they often boil down to exactly this kind of gameplay. I don't think this is the only way to abstract an RTS, though: I wonder what else could be made! |
| Dec 16 15:42:00 | 9m 00s | Jump Chip | Challenging a beautiful puzzler! Would probably be really neat to play with two players. This reminds me a lot of "narcissus", which is a runner in a similar vein. <br/> <br/>The fact that you pulled off such graphics in 48 hours is really awesome! I can't wait for my work-flow to get that smooth. |
| Dec 16 20:34:00 | 4h 52m | FowL Play | OK, that was fun and looked good! Not my kind of game, though: I really have a heard time pointing with the mouse while side-scrolling. Maybe I just need more practice! <br/> <br/>Anyway, fun concept & nice challenge. |
| Dec 16 20:40:00 | 6m 00s | Super Dodging Thing | How does one run this game? What platform? Java? |
| Dec 16 20:47:00 | 7m 00s | Chambers | Wow. Wow. I got 3/8 but I have no idea why, or what. This game is compelling and mysterious despite seeming so simple. <br/> <br/>Also: thanks for including a Java 6 build. How should I know what Java version I'm running? I mean, Java? Common! |
| Dec 16 21:03:00 | 16m 00s | Exclamation Life | The story is definitely better than bioshock, but that's not saying much. I think this is a very interesting genre, and you did well to explore it for ludum dare. I would say: go deeper. Control the player psychologically, rather than just by limiting their options. <br/> <br/>Check out "in the stream". http://in-the-stream.com/ |
| Dec 16 21:07:00 | 4m 00s | Stranded | Server not found... |
| Dec 16 21:11:00 | 4m 00s | Can you hear me? | Same, nothing in either browser. Ubuntu. |
| Dec 16 21:15:00 | 4m 00s | Zombie Kung Fu | Can you upload a Java 1.6 build? |
| Dec 16 21:21:00 | 6m 00s | Robogenesis | Oooooh very nice. Adding speed to the memory game is neat, but there is something missing. At a certain point it just turned into a frantic click-a-thon because I knew that if I revealed a tread-set I had desperate little time to find another. This kind of detracts from the "memory" aspect. <br/> <br/>Loved the theme, and I'll have you know that at the end when the game prompted me with "click to send your creation to war", I closed the window and ended the game. My and my robot creation are off on some crazy adventure right now! |
| Dec 16 21:34:00 | 13m 00s | YOGO PATH | Veeeeery nice. Love the music and sound-effects. In particular, the elastic snapping noise of the mega-jump is cool. The idea is quite unique, and I especially like how evocative it is: one of the characters is slower, but it is left up to my imagination to fill in that blank. <br/> <br/>It. Gets. Hard! |
| Dec 16 21:42:00 | 8m 00s | Burning Love | I wish I could play, but: Unity Web Player! One day they will support my OS. |
| Dec 18 19:19:00 | 45h 37m | Valia V: A New Beginning | That was not the game I was expecting! Nice work on your first jam. I liked the music, and having to push page_up and insert in a typing game was cool (also the math). |
| Dec 18 19:27:00 | 8m 00s | Sculptors & Stones: Throw the Hammer | Wow! How do you not have a ton of comments: this game is great. It is a fun, fast-paced, and very unusual game. Also: it is very pretty. Sound effects, it needs those. |
| Dec 18 19:41:00 | 14m 00s | Fountain | A sophisticated game, full of possibilities. Of which I got 3 ^o^// Nice how succinctly you were able to express the concept, and you nailed the theme without needing to name your game "You Only Get One Fountain" or something. <br/> <br/>The fountain itself kind of looks like Marvin the Martian. Is that just me? |
| Dec 18 19:56:00 | 15m 00s | th3 r00m | Linux! I'm so excited! This was the first of Heiser Saint's games that I've ever been able to play. <br/> <br/>Really impressive! Very good length, very nice mood and atmosphere. I really loved the electric spikes, and the exploding metroid bomb-crabs. Can't wait to play Sig_NULL! |
| Dec 18 20:16:00 | 20m 00s | "a sword game" | The biggest sword was clearly the winner for me (because it was the last sword I tried, so it was the one I was holding when I finally figured out how to fight with swords). <br/> <br/>I really like games in which you have to learn something new in order to participate. At first, everything in a sword game was frustrating! My blade was falling al lover the place, I was never facing the right direction, and I thought the giant dudes were just invincible (actually, I thought the little ones were too). Once I learned the secret language of your game, and developed a fighting style that seemed to work, suddenly it was over all too soon! <br/> <br/>I killed all the little dudes in the last room, by the way. <br/> <br/>Also, I like to imagine that this game is set in the same world as that other game (the one with instructions). The other dude was a mysterious tune-wizard, and learning to control that little dude was fun too. <br/> <br/>Have you played Heavy Sword? Puzzle(action adventure)script. <br/> <br/>https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/puzzlescript/Heavy/puzzlescript/hgBFjWFHfOI/cQrIhl9Pc4sJ |
| Dec 18 20:22:00 | 6m 00s | Jam Panic! | Thanks: this story mirrors my first Jam. "I'm a web-developer, what do I know about game development. I can't make a _game_. Hmm, well there is that "Twine" thing... I could do that!" <br/> <br/>With regards to the ironic comment about women making games: maybe next time put it in context. "Growing up in north-America, playing video games in a basement with dudes, you naturally assume her tutorial won't cut it." Might have gotten your point across more clearly. |
| Dec 18 20:35:00 | 13m 00s | You only get one digit! | Ha ha ha, cool! You went with something very simple, and very new. |
| Dec 18 22:28:00 | 1h 53m | Choose Wisely | I'm going to throw in with the rest here and say: this is a solid game. The controls of the wall jump were cool: reminiscent of super metroid. I chose un kitteh (d'uh). |
| Dec 18 22:48:00 | 20m 00s | Who's the Worst Person in the World? | I chose to kill the head of Murder Industries: I could resist the symmetry there. A nice closed loop. I was disappointed by the fact that my choice seemed to be a "wrong answer", but then maybe they all are. <br/> <br/>This was nice! A little too American, maybe? I think this subject matter deserves to be collaborative: maybe try a remake with your pen-pal on the other side of the world? |
| Dec 20 21:24:00 | 46h 36m | YOLO Simulator 2014 | This game is jam-packed with bias! I lived to a ripe old age of 105 by alternating between "good YOLO" and "work". The question is: who decides what YOLO is good, and what YOLO is bad? For example, I think a lot of positive societal good came from some of the YOLO in the 1960, which your game would probably have considered "bad YOLO" (just based on the wealth differential). Game would be more mechanically interesting if it took a more neutral stance, and offered more shades of grey. <br/> <br/>Long live cow-clicker! |
| Dec 20 21:33:00 | 9m 00s | This world is broken | A wall-jumper! Wall jumping has a special place in my heart. I enjoyed the visuals, but not the sound of the jump. I think its a really neat concept to have the main character unable to just jump. |
| Dec 20 21:54:00 | 21m 00s | The last Stand | 55,000 pts! I win! I really enjoyed this, and probably played it longer than any other compo game so far. Simple reliable fun. |
| Dec 20 22:05:00 | 11m 00s | Fill-In Fantasy | Ha ha ha! Awesome! I played two levels, doing mainly magic the first time and _only_ running away the second. Running away didn't seem to make me better at anything, though. Is there a way to win by evading all encounters (I guess that's a victory in and of itself?). <br/> <br/>Anyway: superb. |
| Dec 20 22:09:00 | 4m 00s | Earth | Nice. I found the controls very difficult, but the gravity effects and the quote at the end were very satisfying. Also, a very pretty game. Where did all those rocks come from!? |
| Dec 20 22:13:00 | 4m 00s | Shopping Madness | Oh man! This should come with a trigger warning! Such anxiety. So race against time. wow. Fortunately, I won in the end. |
| Dec 20 22:43:00 | 30m 00s | Ex Nihilo | I get the road crash too. Still, looks like you have the foundation for a neat RTS. I'd rather make peace with my homeland, though: my friends and family probably live there. |
| Dec 20 22:46:00 | 3m 00s | Seed The Universe | I also couldn't run the jar. Got the following: <br/> <br/>Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from ld28.jar |
| Dec 20 22:56:00 | 10m 00s | Gasha-power | Nice cute platformer, loved the gashapon mechanic. Could be a classic SNES platformer, no problem. It was quite slow on Ubuntu/FF, even the latest version. |
| Dec 20 23:18:00 | 22m 00s | Moon's quest | Wow. Simply amazing! Graphics are really great, sound is right on, and you're right: this game manages to be interesting even in its simplicity. I'm really happy that the Game Boy aesthetic is back in fashion. |
| Dec 20 23:23:00 | 5m 00s | lambda | Is anyone else getting "impossibly hard" from this? The little beige guys are just too fast! It was fun though. |
| Dec 20 23:27:00 | 4m 00s | Second | I got 12 points! What... was I doing? I just hid in a corner and clicked continuously. Still, pretty nice looking game with a neat/weird "OK NOW YOU ARE PLAYING" vibe. |
| Dec 20 23:28:00 | 1m 00s | Silkworm Princess | I would like a Linux build, if possible. Unity web doesn't work for Linux users. ToT;; I really wanna play this, though! |
| Dec 21 21:48:00 | 22h 20m | One Among Many | Very cool! I'm particularly fond of this kind of game, and I made one not too long ago. You throw into question the player's ability to pour themselves into their avatar. This is a very interesting topic. I beat the game! |
| Dec 21 21:59:00 | 11m 00s | Take one thing with you. | Sweet game! I was only able to get a meager 1,200 points with a potion, but I really like the concept. I think if there was a little more there to encourage survival, I would be more inclined to play longer. |
| Dec 21 22:28:00 | 29m 00s | You only get 1-1 | I will have to say that of the ~40 LD games I've rated so far, this one is going to get the highest rating. Such a great mariotroid-vania! I loved unlocking the helmet and double jump. I expected more back-tracking, but enjoyed all the spikes anyway. 48 coins 4 rubies. |
| Dec 21 22:43:00 | 15m 00s | EVA : You only get one... | I'm a Canadian living in Paris, so English is my native language but I played your game in French! "C'est mure son moche" ha ha ha! I enjoyed the breaking of the fourth wall, and the self-deprecation. Good times! I got completely lost when given directions, though, and then didn't want to click my way back to the junction again ^o^// <br/> <br/>High marks for you! |
| Dec 21 22:49:00 | 6m 00s | Gem breaker 28 | Not bad! Sad that it involved so much clicking, though. I enjoyed finding blocks that were acting as linch-pins, taking them out, and then watching everything fall into place. I agree with comments above that the game would be better if we could hold down click to break (like in some other block breaking games I've played...), or if there was a key-binding. |
| Dec 21 22:55:00 | 6m 00s | Monochrome | Unity, eh? From the sound of it, this is a pretty epically cool game that I won't get to play because there isn't a linux build. //(T.T)\\ |
| Dec 21 22:59:00 | 4m 00s | Skycrafters | I scored 70 as well. Oxygen runs out pretty quick. Also, a UI detail: I clicked to start, and then immediately fell off the bottom of the screen. This happened twice before I got to actually play. <br/> <br/>Fun game, nice graphics! |
