LD45 — Start with nothing

Naked in the snow by Marc Grabow 2019-10-08T04:00:47Z

So players were supposed to die in the end? Cuz there was not pickup item to survive, while there is only 1 enemy left. Might be some deep philosophical meaning to this?

Anyway, great concept of "start with nothing."

Great concept and music rly fit with the theme and art work. I wish the control (in terms of attaching and dettaching) is more responsive.

And the game respawns me back to the original pit with no other blocks to work out of the pit. Might still be some issue with the code? But really interesting mechanics to solve puzzles.

Stunning art and visualization on everything. (And way to go to use GameMaker Studio!!!)

I also really enjoy the game play, as it gets more intense. However, currently, I am kinda stuck on the level where the game introducing the enemy attacking with throwing-stars. Its almost impossible to have the enemy kill himself alone, and I am not sure whether my shield can only protect me, or also deal damage.

Personally, I would make the AI more aggressive. As your theme suggests that these demons are here to distrub me, at the moment, I have to put myself in danger first by getting closer and luring them to attack in order to eliminate them. But if the whole time, your concept is to put yourself in danger first before destroying your inner monster, then I think the AI works great.

And it is really nice to have mouse control along with keyboard. I think the mouse control movement just made the game doable and fun! GJ, guys

What a atmosphere you built! the art and music mesh rly well together. And somehow I feel related in just a few minutes. You rly capture the essences of those characters. I dont know how you did that, but those characters look alive and feel alive to me with just a few words with them.

Whoa! Didn't expect this much love from the community, and I have to apologize as I have just figured out I could respond to comments in this way. I'm one of the designers for Level-3 and Level-5, and it's the first time ever for me joining a GameJam and doing level design on an actual game. So I'm really stoked about the feedbacks y'all have provided.

There are definitely a lot of room for improvement, and we are planning on fixing many of the issues in the next few days, including the tile placement in levels, re-spawn to current level, narrative box, etc. Again, thank you so much for playing and commenting on our games! And plz come back and play again once we have fixed many of the issues you guys brought up.

Anyway, Y'all are amazing! Thank you so much for playing our game!

PS: Dun Huang is one who designed Level-4, and she really wants to know how do you guys think about her level. Plz leave a comment if you got rly strong feelings about Level-4 (I know I do, cuz that level is brutal >_<)

Nothing in Room by Colsk 2019-10-08T07:50:12Z

What a great game! You illustrated your point so well with the mechanics. The moment when I found out that I could go back to the 3D room, I immediately realize this is some deep level Shi**. Bravo my friend. Great concept, simply and clear art style. Dig it!
