LD23 — Tiny World

Tiny's World by chipcaramel 2012-05-01T05:39:00

I apologize for the terrible jumping mechanics. We ran rather short on time in the end and didn't end up with enough time for proper outside testing and user feedback. I will be posting a post-jam version later on with, hopefully, fixed jumping mechanics.

I've tested the Windows exe on my end with no problems. I would need additional information to be able to help with it. What was the error message you recieved? At what point did it fail? Did you make sure to place the exe ina directory alongside the two included DLLs?

The stamina thing is a known issue with the game. It actually gets too lenient later on with one of the other forms. It's a playtesting issue we didn't have enough time to address.

Very cute art style.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

William the Wopol by chipcaramel 2014-04-29T14:47:00

Thanks for the comments everyone. In regards to the sprinting issue, I'm just now realizing that I've got the run speed and walk speed set to the same value. Sorry about that! I'd fix it if I could. I'll see about putting up a post-jam version later.
The Wopol is supposed to be rather clumsy on land, so the way he walks is somewhat intentional. A proper sprint would have probably made it less annoying, though.
I'm aware of some sticking bugs with the attack, but most of them can be broken out of by tapping jump or attack, I haven't seen the one in the posted screenshot. I'll look into it.
Also I'm aware there's a very poorly placed enemy towards the end that's annoying to get past. The enemies on the last area were put in last minute, and didn't get any testing before being posted.
Hope that helps clear a few things up. Enjoy the game!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Noli by chipcaramel 2014-08-26T16:32:00

Thanks for all the comments, folks. We put a lot of work into this, and I'm glad to hear it was well received.

Regarding control input, I intentionally avoided using Z as a default key for anything in case anyone was using an Azerty layout.

There's full controller support and key binding if you press F2 and go into the input configuration, so feel free to rebind controls as you like it. "Interact" and "up" are actually separate key configs that can be bound differently.

If you have an X-Input controller, key bindings should be set up for it by default (A = Jump/Accept, X/B=Attack/Cancel, D-pad for movement, Left Shoulder for sprinting), but other controllers will work too, you'll just have to configure them.

Dialog progression is based on the 'accept' key which can be rebound as well, but I'll add Jump as a key it responds to for the post-jam version.

As far as sounds go, I'll do some audio balancing post-jam so it's not so jarring. In the meantime, there's a volume control there in the options menu for sound effects, so you can adjust the sound volume there.

I'll certainly experiment with the inertia too, to see if I can improve that handling there.

Thanks again for the feedback, everyone!

LD33 — You are the Monster

Little Monster by chipcaramel 2015-08-25T13:54:00

Hi everyone! Thanks for playing! A couple notes on the controls.
Hold SHIFT to sprint, by default. This can get you over the long jump if you're a fox.
While human, you can engage crawling by pressing left and right while holding down. This should allow you to escape narrow spaces.
Down+Jump should let you pass through certain kinds of platforms, allowing to escape some places you might get transformed in.
If anyone still has problems, can't get the above controls to work, or finds a spot that can't be escaped, even with the controls I just listed, please let me know exactly where the problem occurs and I'll look into fixing it for a post-jam version.
Also this game includes default bindings for a 360 or other X-Input controller, if you prefer to play with a controller. Other controllers should work too, but will require manually rebinding the controls.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Nukki the Shapeshifter by chipcaramel 2016-04-20T01:50:00

Apologies to anyone who tried using the key binding config and had trouble. I've reuploaded a fixed version.

Thanks to duskpn for reporting this.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Charles 2 - Charles and the Ancient Ruins by chipcaramel 2016-09-12T20:57:00

Hello everyone! I'm so glad everyone's been enjoying the game.
A few quick notes to help everyone out:

You can break a few small objects with your sword (sand mounds, torches, fire alarms), and if you have the Charm of Fabrication these objects will drop small items.

The shop at the beginning of the game sells bombs after you've collected the Tome of Bombs.

The game is pre-configured for an X-Input controller, so an XBox 360 controller should work out of the box, even under Linux.

Regarding the crash mentioned during the previous poster's stream, that error is due to a debug object we forgot to remove. You can safely press escape if you see that error and the game will continue normally.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Slime Mama by Jack Kaloger 2020-04-21T02:24:05Z

The WebGL seems to have a movement bug for me where the character moves incredibly slow. Way too slow to get more than a few food items before the time limit, but at random will get tiny bursts of speed. (Linux Firefox)

So next I tried the Linux standalone. Even though I can get into the game by pushing buttons, once the game starts, the linux version doesn't respond to ANY controls at all.

Finally I brought it over to my Windows box, and tried the Windows standalone version and initially had the same result as the Linux version, but for some reason after the second attempt at loading it, it started working and I was able to move at normal speed.

Outside of the technical issues, it's a cute game and an interesting concept. The pixel art is quite good, and the game controls well once I was able to get it working.

EDIT: I tried the WebGL version under Firefox for Windows, and the player was able to move normal speed. So the slow movement only seems to happen under Linux for me for some reason? Hopefully that helps.
