LD53 — Delivery

Parcel Blaster 2099 by graebor 2023-05-07T15:59:02Z

Great game, took me a while to get used to it, and I was wondering what the point of a "boost" was. Once I figured it out, I got a high score of 55 using the sudden boost strategy every time I shot a parcel. Pretty satisfying to play.

Submitting an arcade style game is pretty creative, and it increases playtime and replayability without having to make custom levels. On that note, this game is super replayable. I can definitely picture this being a super popular mobile game.

As was mentioned before, I think breaking should also consume fuel. Tbh, before I read that comment I thought it DID consume extra fuel, and avoided braking.

The art is pleasing, and the UI is fine though maybe the fuel meter could use some work?

I liked playing the game. Hope you liked making it just as much

ANGRY DELIVERY by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2023-05-05T12:47:57Z

This is a pretty fun game, seeing whatever you shoot fly away combined with the crisp sound effects is satisfying. More than collecting packages by bumping into trucks, I enjoyed dodging everything and shooting the obstacles out of existence. At first I was confused about the goal of the game, but that sort of just let me enjoy the mechanics a bit more. In my head, it made more sense to slam into the grandmas to steal packages from them (no idea where I got this idea). Or to shoot them down. Bumping into the trucks is much more risky though and needs skill. Maybe if you were to elaborate on this, you could make it a bit harder for the player to fall into such crazy debt. Since the packages only sell for 10$ each and you only get 2 packages from each delivery truck. Even then, since your default max integrity is 100%, you can only get 10 packages, or 100$ each time. But it's unlikely that you'd get that many in a short run, which costs 100$. My suggestion would be to add a way to get packages aside from bumping into trucks. Maybe shooting a truck gives you 1 package, and bumping into it gives you 5? Something along those lines.

Overall though, it was a chill game, and I had fun playing it. Although, I don't think I played it the ended way since I was deep down in the debtor hell. Hope you had fun making it!

The lack of music sort of gives it a more chilled out feel, and I like it this way due to its simplicity. I believe it actually adds a bit to the mood of the game. I'm glad you were able to finish it in time, and even somehow make a 2.0 version. You ended up with a good final product, so it was worth it.

Invernal Slumber by kohqctps 2023-05-05T13:06:05Z

This was really good. The graphics put me off at first glance, but once I started playing, I noticed how interesting the animations looked and after a while, I realised that I really liked the character designs. Somehow though, it doesn't mesh well when put together. I'm not sure why exactly that is but it might be the background art and tile design? They're not too bad but maybe it just doesn't match the characters. The game mechanics were pretty nice and intuitive after I figured them out. I was a bit confused about the whole wallclimbing thing, but once I got used to it, it felt obvious. It's pretty impressive for a game jam game, it really does feel like a complete adventure. Overall, I had a fun time playing and I hope you enjoyed making the the game!

This game is really quite nice. I loved how it looked, and the progression mechanics were a bit refreshing. I think it was a great decision to use ambient music for this type of game. The movement was also one of the things I enjoyed. The graphics are great, once again, I really like how the game looks. Although it's a bit plain, the open spaces made it easier to spot flowers. Maybe you could add more stuff later, like those bushes and other small features. Although, it did lag a bit on my pc, so graphics settings would be appreciated.

Although I did enjoy flying around as a bee for the most part, there are points to improve upon in the movement, though. As I upgraded the player speed, it became harder and harder to navigate precisely. I don't think you meant for this to happen, so I suggest that you could either add mouse controls, or add a keybind (something like the shift key) to allow for more precise turning.

The camera started glitching out when I tried doing stuff like barrel rolls. It seems to glitch out when you look either too far up or too far down. I feel like this could be a fairly big hit if you developed upon it further, I'd love to see more upgrades. Take the following with a grain of salt, but maybe a dash for the player, or some beehive upgrades? Maybe you could have multiple beehives! Some kind of clearly visible upgrades every now and then?

I hope you enjoyed the game jam, and keep up the good work!

@kyyrozu Of course, yeah. You made an amazing game, especially considering the time you had to make it. If you told me this took a week, I would've believed you.

A Bag by Zhiteng Chen 2023-05-05T11:35:30Z

This is the most complete game in the game jam. No improvements. Any attempt at expanding upon this would simply ruin it. 0/10, best game

Package for the King by MatterLinx 2023-05-05T14:12:31Z

This game was pretty fun. I liked how it looked, I have no clue how on earth you managed to put this together in time for the jam, but good job. The atmosphere of the game was solid, and it played as expected. It made me want to replay it, so I ended up finishing it twice. I wasn't able to get to the end without any character deaths though, my healers kept killing themselves on the trolls. (Guess I got trolled) Also, the cryomancer is sort of useless when you don't control him.

I do think you could expand upon this, either convert it into a full roguelike with procedurally generated levels, or add more levels and flesh it out a bit more. I personally would prefer the latter. The AI isn't bad, but it definitely needs more improvements. It was also a bit annoying to manually organize the party, since if you got close-range allies in the late-game he would stay in the back until you reorganized your team order with the "You should lead" dialogue option. This is a really fun game too though.

I hope you had fun in the jam, would love to see your entries in the next one!

Mouse Mail by Mateu 2023-05-05T10:58:10Z

This game was very fun to play, despite how minimal it is in terms of gameplay. The music is fitting and the art is pleasing to look at. The story is simple but ended up playing the game twice since I was curious. Replaying it does get a bit tedious though, since you can't fast-forward dialogue

Porch Pirate Panic by Stevie257 2023-05-06T08:00:55Z

It's pretty good, the semi pixel art, semi 3d model aesthetic was nice, I thought it fit the game pretty well. Using a wave based game was pretty creative, and I hope it decreased the workload. - The gun variants were nice. - The sound effects were satisfying. - The enemy variants were easy to understand and added enough complexity to the game. Although, I do think you should've introduced the sniper before the heavily armored vehicle, sort of felt lackluster by the time it joined since he was an easy enemy.

Another point to build on would be that it's pretty easy to rack up gold, and once you get the chain gun, you don't really need that much gold. That doesn't mean the game is easy though, it still took me a few tries to finish the 10th wave. But maybe if you were to expand upon it, you could add more items in between the AR and the chain gun?

One last think to add is that it gets a bit repetitive when you're starting over, but I think that's just a limitation of all shmups. Overall, good game and I hope you had fun at the jam!

P.S: You can spam the pistol to shoot as fast the AR

B.I.T.E by Zelirman 2023-05-05T08:12:38Z

Papers-please inspired game. Unsure how to rate this since it was unfinished, but the concept is pretty cool and you seem capable of expanding upon this. The text was pretty small though and I would appreciate it if it wasn't a browser game. Would be much more immersive

@fabula-rasa Oops, the "use me" boxes were meant to be trash cans that have "use me" written on them. Probably should've written something like "Don't use me" or something
