LD52 — Harvest

Crisis in Banana Republic by one-seed-fruit 2023-01-09T16:56:31Z

really frickin fun, good use of the zelda style sliding puzzles. I felt clever a number of times.

Would love an "Ideal" steps number at the start of the level to try and beat it. But it did get me to go back and play another time if I saw that I was below the ideal. :monkey:

Harvest or Die by Ninnec 2023-01-10T19:04:21Z

Fun game. Took me way too long to figure out the pickup seed mechanic, but you had a nice long instruction page with I appreciated, too many of these didn't do that.

Good mental balance between dumping slime into holes and trying to actually efficiently manage the garden. I appreciate the fact that as soon as I figured out I could bait the slime pretty easily then I died in a hole.

Hedgehog Tree by Alexascher 2023-01-10T20:09:44Z

Really fun to play. I liked the upgrades to the tree, that was really clever. Seemed to get real hard with two birds all of a sudden.

Loved when the wind came up all of a sudden. Super super well designed where I immediately intuited what was happening without being told, just with environment design. That's an experience that will stick with me for a long time.

Thanks for taking the time to make this.

Blighted Crop by Bearacus 2023-01-10T19:52:41Z

Great graphics, and fun real quick little game. Still not sure what's going on with the toxicity filling up. But did make it fun to run and gun.

Chess The Second by aslan 2023-01-10T18:51:46Z

dang, super cool. First time I ramped up to 4 players I got my ass handed to me because I was trying to systematically destroy opponents instead of trying to get eggplants ASAP. Learned my lesson. I think for balance sake maybe a bushel of hay should be able to buy a bishop, rather than an apple, and that queen eggplants should cost more than 3. The aI seemed to get strong pieces out a lot faster than I did on the largest game board.

Wish the player color as red was easier to understand, I keep clicking around on random tiles until someone let's me put down a farm.

I think it would be harder if each piece was forced to move every turn. I beat the AI a couple times by just leaving my pawn alone and hitting end turn and the AI ran into me. Either AI should be able to stop or I should have to make a move with every piece every turn.

I lost a bunch of pieces, including a queen by not understanding how far pieces could go. The "Can't move into sight line" rule wasn't really clear when I was playing with my pieces. Some balance here would be nice and make it less frustrating.

Oh, also frustrating that I never "won" the game. Couple of times I killed all the AI's pieces and resources, never got an end game screen. Then I tried taking over all the board spaces with my color, still no end game you win screen. I live and die for that screen man come on!

All in all, I had a ton of fun with this, played it a couple of times even though I'm supposed to be doing game rating spam.

Space Harvest Wreckage - Extreme 2001 by Melchizedek6809 2023-01-10T19:14:39Z

Great atmosphere, interesting core controls, not really my cup of tea. I kinda felt alone and helpless which is a feat.

I figured out the new plants issue @dmitry-k you need to go up to the seed bag and plant them.

I had other issues where even though the farmer expressed a desire for carrot, if I was hidden as a radish right next to a grown carrot and another grown carrot the farmer would also eat me. Seemed like the farmer is mostly eating in a known pattern.

Also, I could avoid the farmer just by running to the far end of the screen. Idk but I got through several days without having to hide underground because I found the hide and dig out controls really hard to master. So perhaps increase the farmer's awareness and also make the dig in and out controls a little smoother, quicker?

Overall, actually got my heart racing staying away from the dumb farmer, and I liked the animations where you changed plant types a lot.
