LD53 — Delivery

Station Run by smilewood 2023-05-02T12:32:55Z

Enjoyed the interaction between the dash and jump, was especially satisfying trying to calculate the necessary trajectory on the fly. Like others, I think it could start slightly faster, but I do think it suits being a slightly slower variation on the genre. Very nice work!

This is the LD game I've spent the longest playing so far! A whip-smart sokoban game. It's so clever how you avoid using a "wait" button to waste a move, and instead require the player to position otherwise unnecessary boxes to spots that let you push them without moving. Loved it, well done.

Bookmarking this so I can check it out when the new version's up; looks awesome! :)

Desert Mayhem by uniquecorn 2023-05-02T11:45:39Z

LOVE the movement of the vehicle! It's this super clumsy control scheme where the easiest way to turn around is to hold both forward or back and left or right at the same time, so you're constantly pulling donuts while you're trying to get anywhere. Very very interesting and silly.

Picking up body parts doesn't seem to work for me though--I just crash into them and they go flying away, so I didn't get to upgrade my vehicle, and each run ended with me being surrounded by like 20 identical cars and being unable to move. Which is also funny!

Planetary Postman by Lezzlebit 2023-05-02T11:32:24Z

Very nice riff on the sort of Mighty Milky Way gravity puzzler. Enjoyed the cute letters! The game hung for me at the level that says the letter looks like it's been passed back and forth many times. But great work :)

Delivering Lustful Spirit: Desire Manipulation by Eclair 2023-05-02T12:23:55Z

Very interesting and innovative gameplay loop! I liked the tension between needing to speed around and slow down; I think there's a lot more you could do with this mechanic if you were keen to expand it. The third level seems to be playing while the text is on screen--I lost it several times while still on the dialogue screen due to impatient clicking. Short and sweet. Would play a longer version of this!

I'm gonna have "Lemme get there, lemme get there, let me get there!" stuck in my head forever.

Frog vs Bog by Joseph Hydon 2023-05-02T11:03:29Z

Gorgeous little animations, and fun idea! I stopped playing on the fourth or fifth level with the one spear frog and the two snakes; I played the level six times and couldn't understand what else I could do to stop losing. Would love to see some sort of visual clarification between losing due to player dying and due to your warriors being killed. Well done!

Inconsiderate Delivery Driver Simulator by PI_Miners 2023-05-02T13:24:22Z

Congrats on your first jam game! Given the title, I feel like the aim is to have a wildly uncontrollable car, but I found the acceleration on the car's rotation way too high, and it caused me to play very cautiously instead. Perhaps you could try increasing the speed and acceleration of the forward and back controls, and lowering it on the turning? Other than that, you've got a perfectly functional game here, well done!

Infernal Express by BonzoChuff 2023-05-02T13:39:32Z

It took me a while to get the hang of it, but I really like the way the car controls. Just careening around hell, drifting around corners and running down suckers is a lot of fun. I feel like you could make the reverse sliiightly faster, but I also get that that's not the point of it. Just when I got stuck in a corner, it felt pretty punishing trying to get out of it and get back to speed.

One small nitpick--having the passenger limit before the delivery requirement tricked me into thinking I needed 20 people for the first delivery. Was lovely when I finally made it and realised I nearly had enough for my next delivery already, but I think you could make that slightly clearer. Other than that, I had a lot of fun and have rated this game quite highly!

I'm On My Way by KorionArt 2023-05-02T11:15:03Z

My goodness, I love the way you've drawn and animated the pigeon, and the swooping movements are *perfect*. I could play a whole game just swooping like this. I couldn't get to the end--I think the action is too far zoomed in (even though it just lets you appreciate that pigeon all the more!), so you can't really see where the spirits are coming from. And then when the colour palette gets all yellow and sunsetty, you can't see where the spirits are at all.

But wow, just a fantastic effort.

Wasteland Express by Gasimir 2023-05-02T12:00:13Z

Wow, great scoping and polish on this one. Genuinely stressful! Fun twist on the restaurant genre, with excellent art and tense gameplay loop.

Also, I thought the subtle tutorial was very clever--no words, no real explanation of what's happening, but just enough that you can figure it out quickly when the real game starts.
