LD46 — Keep it alive

Light in darkness by tgiant 2020-05-06T03:08:55Z

Couldn't launch the game on Linux, unfortunately ; the monkey-launcher worked fine, but clicking on "Continue" crashed with : ``` Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-lookup.c: 111: check_match: Assertion `version->filename == NULL || ! _dl_name_match_p (version->filename, map)' failed! ```

I'm afraid your game made me slightly more open to child murdering. But then I set up that huge concrete wall, and hearing them laugh wasn't so bad anymore.

But moles. Oh man, don't get me started on moles. I kept looking for the "Hire exterminator" button, but there wasn't one. Anyway he wouldn't have been able to enter, given the barbed wire fence, concrete walls, mine fields and miradors I installed (I may have imagined some of those).

Pretty cool game overall, simple and to the point, the only nitpick I can think of is lack of volume control. (Also : bonus points for "Boutestrape" in the page title.)

Robot Battery Dig by devharts 2020-05-06T03:38:02Z

Nice game, here are a few suggestions (some of them mentioned before) : - Battery appearance is too random, don't be afraid to cheat and not make them spawn "truly" randomly : you can pick a fixed interval and add a random "noise" to it (so it only appears a little sooner or a little later) ; you can also do it like Tetris did and say "there will be X batteries every Y cells no matter what" and place them randomly in this interval (if it's already the case, maybe the interval is too large ?). - It feels like when you're next to a battery, waiting until you reach 50% before picking it up lets you last longer. Though it doesn't score more points, it's a cheesy way to earn time. Maybe focus on the score display, or don't cap the battery level to a percentage ? - Keyboard controls would be appreciated ! I couldn't find any.

Otherwise the concept is well executed and the result is enjoyable.

Great work on giving some depth and mood to the game through writing and graphics ; though the gameplay itself is a little lacking. Adding some depth to it by introducing more stats, or possibly timing constraints could keep it more interesting, or adding several steps to the taming process (which lets you have a losing path that only sets you back a little).

It's nice however to see a game that is somewhat poetic with an original setting, since it's hard to pull off and thus few other games even try ; so keep at it in the future, it's definitely a rare strength !
