LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Sacrifices must be made to the Dragon! by dae529 2018-12-10T21:50:05Z

@sumathbrod Thanks! I'll let the musician know!

Given a bit more time (I'd probably have wasted it) but there most definitely are a lot of the UI elements that in hindsight I'd had loved to spend more of the time on

@mordokay Yeah... There were only 4 choices to be made on the direct sacrifice choices scene. There are even in world sprites for each of them that might at one point make their way into a more polished version of the game, but for the most part, I couldn't keep up with the artist! :D

@niborious Thanks! I'll pass on the thanks to the musician and the artists (their first time with any kind of game dev!)

I know what you mean. We definitely spent a little too much time on the behind the scenes resource manageament over the UI for it. So, unfortunately, it all comes off as very chaotic and unfair without much of an idea of what the heck is going on! :/

We over-scoped with the amount of time that we were actually going to be able to put in and get it polished. And definitely learned a few lessons for next time around!

Great little puzzle game you've got there. Looks really great, the puzzles themselves are good and the progression of difficulty is quite nicely balanced. I was a bit confused by the second level until I'd skipped it and used the teleports on a later level (I didn't really get what it was until later), but other than that you got everything across without having to explicitly say much, which definitely added to the aesthetic.

If you're going to put a bit more time into this, I'd love to see some subtle animations on those cubes (something like snakebird), an undo last move button/key would be fantastic (that last level got a little annoyingly repetitive, having to go all the way back to the start by mucking up the correct movement path), and yeah, some sound/music would really bump up a lovely game

It's Not Lupus! by Deozaan 2018-04-27T09:54:21Z

Love the graphics and the sound design, and the video you posted about how they were made. The orbital shooting needs a little balancing: failed every time when actually moving around trying to contain it, but won every time when I just sat there and shot until. Definitely up there for best music.

Oh, and loved the eyebrow waggling!

Crazy Cube by YANIV 2018-04-27T10:04:55Z

Love the concept, a really great idea. As with most folk here I'd have loved some sound; as well as maybe the dice to moving just a little faster, particularly for moving in between sections

Speed Defence by Odd1In 2018-04-27T10:21:32Z

A really fun game there. Audio was great, and the movement controls felt really good. I think if there was a better indication that an enemy was under you / a greater indication that you were taking damage rather than just the health bar going down it would improve the feel a little more

VRn't by Michael Clavell 2018-04-30T20:37:10Z

That game was ridiculously well polished for a game jam. The audio, the graphics, and the control feel were all amazing, and I'm insanely jealous with what you guys managed to pull off in the time frame. If you're planning on doing anything else with it, I'd love to see some special moves: dragons, and fireballs, and incredible effects in VR; coupled with more flailing irl

Great art style, controls seemed a little slow. Fit the theme perfectly, great idea, and interesting game

TD blockBuilding - Blocks vs Blobs by dae529 2018-04-25T11:13:04Z

@Roidz Thanks roidz, don't you worry, definitely going to be playing some of these beauties out there soon. It's just been recovering from the jam+plus catching up on missed work/other responsibilities has meant a lack of gaming over the last couple of days. Just about to make up for it.

Thanks for the feedback. Was very much a winging it approach, without a huge amount of testing. Definitely something I'd like to finish up. There's something intriguing there, and a few variations on an upgrade system that we didn't end up implementing, but that's something to worry about later

TD blockBuilding - Blocks vs Blobs by dae529 2018-04-25T21:16:50Z

Thanks arzi!

Yeah, I know what you mean. The feel is definitely off a little, e.g. pressing left once and moving over 2 spaces. Probably need to slow everything down a little overall, introducing different in elements more slowly. Just a little too much chaos a little too quickly

Little Wings by Tikikala 2018-04-27T10:16:11Z

A nice little game you've got there, great chill music, and some decent graphics. I think you might need to make the hunger numbers a little more obvious. I didn't even notice them until maybe halfway through. Maybe a change in font, size, color and maybe a meter of some sort? And yeah, I got stuck in the seemingly infinite loop at the end, so must have missed the right option. So maybe some form of hint in the wording of the other options?
