Cool
Attacks are quite cool, and the graphics are def interesting.
Messed with my eyes quite a lot. Also, it does start facing a wall, it does say 'turn around' on itch, but doesn't say the keys to do so, I was spamming WASD Q E for a while.
Interesting visual style! I like the monochrome 3D with dithering. I couldn’t get the Run option to work in combat, though.
@welovegames yeah, run was not implemented ;)
I’ve been waiting for at least 5 minutes now, but the game won’t start. Is it just me who’s unable to play?
Okay, I waited another 5 minutes, and game starts. It's pretty interesting that you using old mechanics like raycasting, but idk what is my purpose and goal, like, what am i doing in labyrinth?
@artemco Sometimes you start facing a wall, press left or right arrow to turn and you should be able to see something. You may also try restarting the game.
The 3D visuals, with dithering is original. Look like the levels are generated 👍
Raw mechanics are here, but it feel like you needed more time to make it ok
Game started, but unfortunately I can't walk. Probably faced some bug there
@Hoptoad walking is done only with arrow keys, not with WSAD. In case of a bug try restarting the game - you will get a new randomly generated dungeon
Very simple graphically, but the limited visual range goes a long way towards adding atmosphere. I didn't really need to engage with combat much; I got very killed by a skeleton on my first attempt, but on my second end I was able to win while only fighting a single slime, and then on my third attempt I generated almost immediately in front of the treasure chest and won basically immediately.
I've completed the game. Navigating the weird black and white maze was engaging but combat felt very repetitive, especially the fight with the skeleton. I think the fights could be more fun if the enemies used different moves so you have to adjust your strategy to them.
I really liked the monochrome graphics. Honestly, so much that the fights felt like a distraction :P But I understand that the goal was to recreate an old-fashioned dungeon crawler and the fights certainly fit with that theme.
Being able to parry is a nice touch, though there currently isn't much strategic depth to the fights. There is usually one clear best action to take. The fights would be more engaging if there wasn't always one action the obvious best. (Perhaps add some RNG?)
It would also be nice if there was more decoration in the mazes, so the player can try to navigate based on memory (rather than just following the left or right wall towards the exit).
I feel the goal of making an "old tech dungeon crawler" was reached, so congrats! The simple, monochrome graphics remind me of text based adventures and of early Wolfenstein. Very fitting.
I was pleasantly surprised upon finding treasure and unlocking the magic attack, which felt like a well deserved reward after a hard-fought battle against the skeleton. However, the most delightful moment of my playthrough was the option to choose between "ok" and "great". I naturally chose great, which felt great. I wish the game had a better ending to wrap up my adventure in your stylish, monochrome dungeon, but nevertheless, it was great. Great job!
