I realy liked it
I forgot i alredy commented this and made 2 more comments
Well, I think it's clear that this game is in the spirit of Papers, Please — it's very interestingly designed and conceived. The only thing I don't understand is why I can't disconnect from an already active call and lose my progress because of it? Once, I accidentally tried to unplug the wrong cable and ended up realizing that I couldn't even unplug it while the call was still active. enjoyed it!
a switchboard operator working "for the good of the Motherland", nicely ominous. the jacks, the cables and the paper-note tutorial look great in that warm pixel art. only got into the tutorial but it feels like papers please on a switchboard, which i'd play more of
@z1biks You can't unplug a cable once it's connected correctly because it was faster and easier to implement it that way than to handle what happens if you unplug the correct cable
And yeah, I made the cables slightly transparent which I thought would be enough (apparently not)
Anyway, thanks for the feedback!
I feel like the game is broken for me. I think that happened when I connected an upper cable to the caller. bug.png
Cool idea! Everything worked well and I thought the tutorial was really well paced and thought out. I don't know if it was coming later but it would have been cool to get a bit more story and dialogue snippets
Great game! The audio was great, and the tutorial was super helpful. The only thing I found was that the text was a little small (when it wasn't in full screen mode), so it was hard to read. I also notice that the wires covered the text, which made it hard to read what it said. I would suggest either moving the text down a little or putting the text over the wires. Overall great game, very fun, and well rounded!
Yo, switchboard game brother! Really cool game. Connecting everything feels so satisfying, and the sound design makes it even better. Awesome work! I tried to achieve that same satisfying feeling of making connections in my own game, but I don’t think I quite nailed it. You absolutely did!
I absolutely love your concept, you came up with a great idea
Great pixel art and mood ! First day of work is a bit too long but then its good :)
Nice one, it really has the Papers Please feeling. Well executed and very stressful. 😄 And impressive that you had time to include a tutorial in the game!
Love the art, and how the tutorial makes it easy to get into the game. 👏 Found it tricky 🎯 to connect a few targets, though. The offset between the mouse (pointer) and the connector seemed to vary, which led to some failed connections. Tried clicking the source and then the destination instead, might be worth considering as an alternative. Had tried prototyping something like this myself earlier, and realized how tricky 🫠 it can be to get everything right down to the pixel. The audio with the bgm was so soothing and loved the cozy vibes. Overall great submission! 🙌
the concept of a switchboard operator working for the motherland is really cool. the warm pixel art and the mechanical feel of plugging in the cables are really satisfying.
my main issue was the text being covered by the cables. it got a bit frustrating when i was trying to read the instructions and the wires were right in the way. also, sometimes the mouse offset felt a little off when trying to connect the jacks.
overall, a very solid and atmospheric entry. good luck!
Solid gameplay with proper inputs, nice graphics and cool music. Sound effects are asrm inducing =D
This "calls connection" idea was used in many games in this LD but yours present a nice dificult progress with proper tutorial.
Congratulations
