Fun gameplay! I suggest compiling shaders/caching during loading to avoid hitching during gameplay in HTML5. I enjoyed it!

extremely charming vibe! took me a sec to realize there were people in the beds :)
It was super fun to keep in mind all these medical rooms and run around them! Also I like how you made the main character and running animation for him. Seems like you didn't have enough time to complete the whole location but still it is really nice game, good job!
I saw this game recommended in the comments and decided to try it. I really shouldnโt be allowed near games like this, because I spent countless months playing Theme Hospital years ago. I instantly love anything with that vibe.
Itโs really fun running around and getting tasks on a pager. From the first second, you feel like a doctor in a hospital, constantly busy, with so much to do and everything depending on you. I loved that feeling.
Thanks for the Dem Hospital nostalgia. If you managed to make this over a weekend, thatโs really impressive.
It's very annoying to play because without memorizing all the codes, the pager only gives you the info "message", and you have to go to the red phone to check where you should actually go.
this game could have used a bit more explaining, but it really gets you into that stress level and finding your way pattern after a while. Maybe a starting tour or maps somewhere at the wall would have been fair. Well done.
@kedikat Thanks! Yup, I was learning about the shader compilation at the end when I noticed a bad lag spike, I took care of that one by dropping the shader that was getting built on the fly, I didn't realise others were still happening but all new to me there so appreciate the tip and I'll investigate how to do properly
@mk-dustan Cheers ๐ A charming vibe brought about by the usual time limitations I suspect but appreciate it
@beareye Thank you, I was pretty happy with the janky run in the end, haven't learnt any rigging yet so just some old school rotations around pivot points. I suspect the jank made it quirkier so probs for the best. Yes, usual triage of deciding what to get done so left the X-Ray department a bit bare but I also wanted to keep a full run short so didn't need more locations.
@gamescodedogs Interesting, I haven't heard of Dem hospital and struggling to find it, any hints for a search? I'm intrigued. Thanks for playing either way! If you want, I did upload the source code and repo so you can see how I built it over the jam timeline.
@mikoolec Thanks for giving it a go ๐ I appreciate that's a bit of of a challenge but it was the game loop of using an old piece of tech I was going for. I thought doctors would learn extensions and codes so they wouldn't need to check messages as much, especillay with a critical code where they might just head to the location asap
@johncoffee Cheers! I agree, a bit more of a tutorial at the start would be nice to add, really help the player. Mixed feelings about a map, I considered it but kind of wanted the game loop to be a little tough like that, you have to explore, check the signs and figure it out but perhaps it would have been nice to find on a wall around the corner like you suggested ๐ or more localised ones rather than the arrow signs.
@liam omg, I was so sleepy that I didnโt notice autocorrect changed Theme Hospital to Dem Hospital :)
a hospital shift run through a pager is such a clever interface, the extension and code system makes every bleep feel urgent without needing a big tutorial. the little people in the beds are a charming detail too, it makes the ward feel alive. did you tune the critical codes by hand, or let the difficulty ramp on its own? really fun concept.
The bleeping pager with specific extensions and codes perfectly captures that chaotic rush of a busy shift. This is such a compelling little game!
@gamescodedogs Ah ofc, I do kind of wish I had either made isometric or top down view rather than 3rd person tbh, I considered it but wanted a fast feeling game. Something for me to experiment with. Now if I could start making graphics like Two Point Hospital I'd be cooking.
Nice little game, it captures the hospital rush very well. I would like a little more time to reach places in the game start. Alse we need better professionals that beep me with minor injury while on a major trauma case =D
Nice game! I really like how implement this management mechanic! Audio is very comfort!
@perrarancino Thanks for playing! Hand tuned, I would have liked a bit of randomness but I figured for the jam best to try and test the difficulty and check via some scripts what was possible. I hoped that with a few failures most people would be able to get to the end with some missed bleeps and those who wanted to get a perfect score could play more.
@eugenik Cheers! Exactly what I was going for ๐
@helgust Thank you. Definitely one of my best bg music tracks I've made, even if it is a bit janky like the game ๐
@ltyrosine Haha, yeah I think a little bit of a slower ramp at the start with maybe something a little more dynamic there (if you'd played a few times then it removes the training wheels) would be a good idea. Goddamn bureaucracy, getting in the way of doctors doing their best!
I'm just a new unlicensed doctor lost in the maze of the hospital. What a rush, but really fun to play! Nice music and the beeps made the rush even more urgent. Running all around trying to find a certain place and was busy with a bunch of critical events and someone wants to say thank you hhhhh.Great job!!!
@cupofcuppuccino Thank you for the feedback and playing. Kind words about the music especially mean a lot to me. Glad you liked it ๐
Running around in a maze like hospital while having to deal with old tech like pager. Really creative use of the theme. Would have been better if there was a desktop build to avoid the stutters.
@lomna Thanks! I will consider desktop builds in future jams but I think I'd mainly like to figure how to get web 3D builds running smoothly. Thanks for playing!
Oh no, that's the end of my career! Really like the take on the theme, and it felt nice to walk through the hospital. I found it a bit hard to understand how the codes work, even though I tried to find the link. Also, I would have appreciated more "shortcuts" to be able to go from one room to the other, perhaps with a central hub in the center or something. Other than that, really cool game :)
@pimeko Cheers, ah yup maybe the extension codes for rooms could have been inside the rooms as well to help make the link clearer, they were deliberately a little different across departments as well. I had some crazy ideas about shortcuts at the start (jumping through windows etc) but it's a good idea!
Great result, very well polished. I really like 3D games at game jams.
Easy to understand, hard to master ๐
Looks and sounds great! As another commenter mentioned, might help to make the patients easier to see in their beds because at first I thought their heads were just pillows haha.
