I liked the story and the game is well put together.

The game would be even better if there was some variety to combat: some ranged or area weapons, consumables, something to add more tactical depth to the game. Right now, combat felt too repetitive to me.

Still, I got to the ending and my pirate crew retired to life in luxury. ๐Ÿ˜

Good game with a funny story!

Is there a good way to move the camera? I poked around random controls and found scrolling worked for zoom, but couldn't get click-and-drag or arrow keys to work to pan around.

I love the music track, though the music loop is a little too short. Great story, art style, and gameplay!

@johnstarich Next time we will put the instructions in the game instead of the description, I promise! You can drag the map with your middle mouse button

Oh that third level is brutal haha! Love the game, its very polished. Even options for a second language?! How did you find the time ๐Ÿ˜… That must be a first in LD history Graphics are gorgeous and the music / sound effects fit really well.

At first I did not know who the enemies were, which was a bit confusing. Maybe because I normally don't really play RPG-turnbased fighting games. Maybe the enemies could have had a little red dot above them? Or something else that indicaties "these guys are trouble"

Also, make sure to upload a cover image, it will give people an idea what the game is about. And make sure to rate + feedback other people's games, so yours will bubble towards the top. You'll get your minimum of 20 ratings much quicker

Edit: congratz on your first LD-entry!!

Dialog gave me a couple chuckles. The battling itself took me a while to figure out what to do since there wasn't much visual feedback, and I couldn't tell who the enemies were, but once I went back out of the game to check what I was supposed to do things made sense. It goes pretty smoothly once you know what you're doing. Nice job putting this together, I feel like you don't see many tactical/SRPG type games in jams.

The combat pleasantly harkens back to classics like Warsong and Shining Force 2 on sega, clear turn-based tactics where positioning, turn order, and careful risk management matter. The atmospheric visuals set the tone, the palette and stylization nicely create a sense of a retro adventure. On the first level I was confused about who was an ally and who was an enemy, but after a couple of clicks it became clear. I think simple red/green color-coding would help a lot here. Otherwise, the interface is intuitive, and the battle pacing holds your attention without dragging turns out. The game feels solid and shows promise, thereโ€™s room to add more depth. Overall a very solid foundation, atmospheric, clear, and tactically engaging. The game has the potential to grow into something bigger while preserving its current charm. Good game!

Not bad, doing this on your own must have been a monumental task, between programming and art, ALSO doing the story/writing is really impressive. well done

The One Pistachio is real!

Great game! Seeing a tactical RPG in a game jam is an unexpected but welcome sight. Would have liked more tactical options than melee attacks though, even a simple window to check each character's stats would have helped. The graphics and maps look very nice and the story is fun and self-aware. The whole package is very solid!

I had an issue in the second map where a character teleported after attacking and the game stopped accepting input, not sure what caused that. Maybe the attack UI button intersected with another character and clicking it activated both at once?

Solid game. Good combat mechanics and good dialogs. There were just small things to fix regarding graphics but it is very good overall.

I really like the art style. All the character designs are really good. The boat and the waves are well done as well. The only thing I'd change is that it's hard to tell who the enemies are. Maybe some kind of different tile or hp bar or something would help?
