Nice atmosphere in game

klausklapper 2025-10-07 11:08

Today I learned that being a space goblin is a dangerous, hard life. Not only are you constantly being followed by the no-good Corpo drones, you also have to fight the momentum and centrifugal forces of their bulky crates.

I had some good fun playing it, though once you master what I call the "Satisfying Slingshot" technique, it becomes fairly easy. It also doesn't really matter how much money you extract with. Would be nice to able to fly towards some secret pirate space stations in between missions and upgrade your ship.

So, would I become a space goblin again in the future? Yes, yes I would.

hugohil 2025-10-07 12:17

@furypn thank you for the kind words and playing the game :) i'll make sure to check yours !

hugohil 2025-10-07 12:21

@klausklapper thanks for the feedback! The "satisfying slingshot" (now canon) is indeed the meta ;)

it lacks some objectives for sure, money don't really matter here but with more time (and sleep) i'm planning on adding some sort of shop where you buy upgrades for your ship, your grapple or the portal. And also different kind of crates (what would be a goblin-themed base without explosions...).

captaincorgistan 2025-10-07 13:01

Tried to simply push the crates, but then recall that I'm an adult human being and read a controls section and learned how to grapple stuff :) From there had a smoother experience :)

Love the overall vibe, even not so much happening in the scene, it feels real in a way

hugohil 2025-10-07 13:08

@captaincorgistan ahah thank you! you're just a chill goblin doing goblin stuff in space, minding your own businesses, like trying to stay away from gnomish dept collectors ;)

I wish I had more time to add music and some obstacles though, but i'll definitly keep working on it.

blatalzar 2025-10-07 17:41

Very disorienting at first but quite fun :)

hugohil 2025-10-07 20:02

@blatalzar thanks! I’d love to add a little more to the intro and tutorial indeed, I think it can be a little steep at first but I’m glad you had fun :) Thanks for playing

trusty 2025-10-07 23:02

Had a fun time, would be cool if the amount you escaped with had some effect. Thanks for the game.

hugohil 2025-10-08 09:51

@trusty thanks for the feedback and for playing the game! I agree with you about the amount not being effective now, time couldn't permit it but i'm planning on adding a shop for ship upgrades and alike :)

negdo 2025-10-08 16:04

Awesome mechanics for the ship control. Graphics wise I think there should be some more visual clues in the background to keep the orientation. Moving particles are a bit disorienting.

eugenik 2025-10-09 05:50

this was really good keep it up!.

hugohil 2025-10-09 09:07

@negdo thank you for this feedback!

Keeping some sense of orientation needs more work for sure, I can't even count how many times i changed little things here and there to try and make it easier ahah.

Thansk for the playing the game and taking the time to write :)

hugohil 2025-10-09 09:08

@eugenik thanks! I'm glad you liked it :D

surfacedfox 2025-10-09 10:47

I loved the vibes of it, felt like something out of a y2k-era 3d cartoon title sequence. Driving itself feels a little disorienting, but. it's goblin, duh. xD

hugohil 2025-10-09 11:19

@surfacedfox ahah thanks! you clearly got the vibe :D

jorbits 2025-10-09 12:18

The controls took some getting used to, especially when the boxes orbit around you. I liked the atmosphere and sounds. Looking forward to the shop and maybe it would be interesting to actually fight the corpos.

hugohil 2025-10-09 15:50

@jorbits thanks for the feedback! You’re right it would be cool to have a way of fighting or interacting with the corpus, I’ll give it a proper thought ;)

fng-trashcat 2025-10-10 04:13

Yo this is nice! I really dig your background art with the crazy dual tones, very trippy in the best way! The little Kwicc ship is such a treat with the rust on the edges and silly exhaust pipe :sparkling_heart:

Incredible idea to let the crates actually influence the flight of the ship when you grapple onto them! Makes it a proper challenge to whip around kwicc and loot everything efficiently! I got caught trying to get one last one that kept going AROUND the portal instead of in :joy:

Great work!! I'd love to see this polished and complete! :ok_hand:

hugohil 2025-10-10 10:24

@fng-trashcat hey thanks! I did the ship modeling and texturing over the saturday night it was really fun to make the rusty texture and the smoke, i'm glad you liked it as much as i did :D

ahah you got caught for being a greedy goblin :P note that you can just press space again to release the grapple. it can be useful for emergency exits

thanks again for your feedback, motivates me to keep working on the game <3

fng-trashcat 2025-10-10 23:39

Yo thanks for the tip! I think I did that by accident a few times and didn't think to use it as a strat :joy:

cislaru-corneliu 2025-10-15 18:16

really best game jam:)

patuwu 2025-10-15 18:16

Ayooo, nice game with nice gameplay love the art style and the idea. Great job!

hugohil 2025-10-20 09:03

@cislaru-corneliu thanks for the kind words and for playing the game!

@patuwu thank you! glad you liked it <3

mushlord 2025-10-23 14:35

I love space games and the atmosphere. The delivery of the boxes is great. I enjoyed carrying them across space. Very good job.

ginger-kyoko 2025-10-23 22:04

Space goblins are really something new. Space goblins running from the cops—even more so. Well, thanks, that was fun. But the camera is rather disorienting, that's all. It also needed some cheerful music to set the atmosphere. Good luck with the future development!

By the way, if you like slightly absurd and strange games, you might want to check out our game too 🥴

hugohil 2025-10-24 16:39

@mushlord thank you!

@ginger-kyoko thanks! Yeah the camera definitely needs a bit more work and music was on the todo list but … you know :D I’ll make sure to check your game as soon as I get back on my computer!
